Throughout pregnancy, she stayed in close contact and was always available when I felt worried or confused. Her guidance through the confusing days of pre/early labor and her arrival as soon as we needed more support made me feel really cared for. During labor, Jen really helped me cope with contractions and stay calm in between. She helped me get into a good flow and pulled many helpful things out of her toolbox (both metaphorically and literally) without disrupting my rhythm. Hospitals make me uneasy, but she helped me stay focused no matter what was going on around me. She kept me grounded when things got intense and I doubted myself. Jen interacted effortlessly with the medical team and brought up helpful questions I wouldn’t have known to ask (monitoring, IV placement, positioning especially during pushing). Between preparation during prenatal meetings and Jen’s encouragement and advocacy during my birth, I was able to stay confident and really be in the moment when my baby arrived. While I was initially unsure about whether I wanted to hire a doula, after interviewing Neisha I was convinced that it would be helpful to bring her on to support me and my husband before, during, and after the delivery of our first child, and I was not disappointed. I ultimately had a very positive birth experience, and I credit Neisha for giving me the preparation, knowledge, and validation needed to make informed decisions and clearly communicate my preferences during labor and delivery. Early on, she provided us with ample online resources to begin our childbirth preparation. During our prenatal meetings we developed a birth plan, practiced comfort techniques, and discussed the essentials of breastfeeding and newborn care. Throughout my labor Neisha calmly fielded our increasingly anxious calls about whether to take Pitocin and when to begin the epidural. She was a reassuring presence in the delivery room, suggesting alternative positions and providing encouragement to me and my husband through two hours of pushing. Postpartum, Neisha helped with breastfeeding, and continued to check in for several weeks after the end of our official contract as I dealt with a difficult and unexpected complication. Neisha’s professionalism and expertise combined with her warmth and sense of humor made her an invaluable part of my birth team. I would absolutely hire her again. Jessica is an absolute gift. She walked with me from prenatal to delivery and I am forever grateful for that. Jessica communicated quickly and thoughtfully when I needed her virtually, offering advice and encouragement when I needed it most. When she arrived during labor, she became everything I needed. She was able to read the room and mood to know if I needed encouragement or options or if I just needed to vent or cry. The way she carries herself with her knowledge, the nurses and providers also respected her which created the most joyous environment for birth. working with Natalie from newborn to over one year has been absolutely invaluable in supporting both me and my baby through the journey of breastfeeding. In those first few days after birth I was at my wits end and in so much pain. She helped me with latch techniques, ensuring my baby was feeding effectively, and addressed any initial challenges like nipple pain, burping and even went over my pump parts to ensure it fit my breast properly. She also educated me on recognizing my baby's feeding cues and offered many solutions for managing issues with my milk production and ensuring my baby was gaining weight. As my baby grew, the consultants continued to guide me through feeding schedules, my transition to working full time and being away from my baby, milk storage, and challenges like teething and growth spurts that sometimes disrupted feeding. She also supported me in transitioning to solid foods when we felt ready and educated me on choking and signs to look for and showing me how to balance breastfeeding with introducing new foods. Throughout the year, her emotional support and expert advice gave me the knowledge and confidence to meet my breastfeeding goals even when I felt this journey was near impossible due to my lack of supply.
