Hi parents! My name is Nicole Danley and I am a doula located in Southern California. I have been a doula since 2021, and I am also a student midwife with National College of Midwifery. I am a mother of two amazing teenagers, and one surrogate baby in 2021. My journey into the birth world began right after my surrogate journey, as the birth was very traumatic and life altering. After this experience I realized that there are so many facets of birth that are not explained to pregnant women and my mission in life began! My philosophy is that every new parent deserves compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgmental support as they adjust to life with their baby. I provide calm, hands-on care tailored to each family’s culture, preferences, and individual needs. Rather than taking over, I work alongside parents, helping them build confidence in caring for their newborn while ensuring they have time to rest, recover, and feel supported. As a DONA-certified postpartum doula and certified breastfeeding specialist with a background in midwifery and a PhD in Community Nutrition, I combine practical experience with evidence-based guidance. I support families with newborn care, feeding and lactation, postpartum recovery, nutrition, and emotional reassurance. My goal is to create a peaceful environment where parents feel heard, empowered, and confident in making the choices that are right for their family.

A calling that has been nurtured for 32 years. I began my career with children as a teenage babysitter. I have been fascinated by child development since I was little more than a child myself. Arriving in the USA in 1991 from Barranquilla, Colombia I was immediately employed by Universal Studios Child Care Center. This experience offered a wide range of infants to care for and deepened my desire to advance in my calling as a childcare specialist. It was in my interactions with various parents that I soon realized how what came naturally to me was frightening to some. In a very short time, parents were asking me to provide services outside of the care center. I was helping with establishing baby sleep schedules, nighttime care and creating baby routines for families. In 1998 I had met my birthing doula trainer and mentor Carmen of Gyntle Touch Birth. At Carmen’s recommendation I also became a certified massage therapist from Touch Therapy Institute. Immediately I offered my time as a birthing and prenatal doula to help low-income unwed mothers. This was my way of giving back in gratitude of my being able to pursue my life’s purpose and obtain a vast amount of experience with a diverse group of mothers. Over the last 32 years I have worked with hundreds of families, from birthing babies, preparing hospital care routines and directives, setting up nursery supplies, prenatal doula, lactation coach, night care, postpartum care, pregnancy and baby massage. Along the way I married and was blessed to deliver my own two children, with my mentor Carmen presiding as my birthing doula. A not so well-kept secret is that my husband and I are gourmet chefs, an additional service many families are excited to have made available to them. I consider myself truly blessed in that I am able to share in the most important part of a family. Incredibly, many of the children I have had a hand in raising continue to contact me throughout their life. I have had the wonderfully good fortune to attend many, confirmations, bar & bat mitzvahs, graduations from elementary, Jr. High, High School, College and recently my first Graduate school ceremony. I respect privacy and discretion, am able to travel, provide meal preparation and offer household management services.

Asia Rikard is a Pacific Northwest native that has found her way to Orange County, California. She began her journey as birth and postpartum doula in 2016 through DONA and is committed to being a compassionate advocate to empower your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. With an education in intercultural peacebuilding (transformative mediation) and business she is prepared to create space and support for all birthing persons regardless of your circumstances and preferences. She has experience and training in prenatal and postpartum nutrition, trauma-informed care, acupressure, VBAC, home birth, babywearing, and twins/multiples. When she isn’t attending births and supporting through the postpartum period, Asia enjoys spending time with loved ones, swimming, hiking, enjoying live music, and baking homemade bread. I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2016 and was certified in 2019 for Prenatal and Perinatal Massage Therapy. That same year of 2019 I became a certified Birth Doula. My journey to becoming a mother was not easy. I had two very different and difficult births that taught me a lot about myself and the challenges of childbirth. My first birth was a long and exhausting labor that ended in an emergency cesarean. I felt scared, helpless, and disappointed that I couldn’t have the natural birth I wanted. My second birth was a planned cesarian, I felt unprepared, anxious, and overwhelmed by the intensity of the experience and felt guilty for not trying to deliver naturally. Both of my births left me feeling traumatized and in need of healing. ​ These experiences made me realize that there is a gap in the traditional healthcare system when it comes to supporting mothers during birth. I felt that I didn’t get enough information, education, or emotional support from my providers, and that I had to advocate for myself and my baby. I decided to become a doula to fill that gap and to help other mothers have a better birth experience. As a doula, I offer personalized and continuous support to mothers before, during, and after birth. I help them prepare for their birth, cope with their pain, communicate with their providers, and celebrate their achievements. I want every mother to feel empowered, respected, and joyful during their birth.

I have always had a passion for working with children and families. I grew up on a small island in the heart of the Florida Keys. From an early age, I began babysitting and nannying. Once I graduated from high school, I decided to major in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and returned to the Keys to teach elementary school. For 10 years, I worked with many families and children of different ages and abilities, including those with special needs. During this time, I also began practicing yoga and as cliché as it may sound, yoga changed my life. It has provided me with an outlet to focus the mind, control the breath, and explore and appreciate the body. I decided that I wanted to share the powerful and lasting benefits of this practice with others. I have studied hatha, vinyasa, yoga philosophy, meditation, standup paddleboard yoga, and pregnancy + postnatal yoga. It was during my pregnancy + postnatal yoga training that I became interested in becoming a doula. I felt compelled to find a way to provide much needed support for individuals and families before, during, and after birth. I decided then, to pursue a new life and career path. I trained through DONA International to become a certified birth and postpartum doula. I have taken various additional trainings such as Body Ready Method®, Spinning Babies® workshops, rebozo techniques, LGBTQ+ family equality, Spinning Babies® certified parent education, basics of breastfeeding, and infant first aid and CPR. I am committed to using my experience, knowledge, and ability to hold space to provide unbiased informational, emotional, and physical support that empowers you to make the right choices for yourself and your family.
