As a trans man, I also recognize how often queer people and their families are underrepresented and underserved in medical settings. My practice centers LGBT+ parents and is grounded in trauma‑informed, non‑judgmental care through a lens of reproductive justice—so birthing parents and their partners feel empowered to make informed decisions about their bodies and their care. Marnellie Bishop (she/her) is a certified birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator. Marnellie has additional training as a Hypnobabies® Instructor & Hypno-Doula. She also serves the Portland, OR community as a board member and Chief Finance & Operations Officer at Community Doula Alliance. Prior to pursuing her passion to support families on their perinatal journey, Marnellie completed a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and used her degree to help grow and sell her family’s printing company. Hi! I'm Sophie Brabec, I'm a birth doula located in Battle Ground, WA. My passion for birth work was sparked by the incredible beauty and joy I see in pregnancy and birth. I believe that every woman in labor deserves compassionate, individualized support and that a calm, attentive presence is immensely beneficial during labor. I believe that women have an innate capability to give birth in the way that’s best for them. I'm eager to remind women of that innate capability and passionate about supporting women through their labor in order that they might have the birth they want. I aim to protect your birth preferences by being your advocate as well as encourage and empower you to approach birth confidently through informed support. My love of childbirth was ignited after the birth of my first daughter.  I was blessed with continuous support during my own birth experience and knowing the difference it made for me, I was inspired to be a part of a community of women helping each other through the most transformative and empowering moment of their lives.  My journey began focused on midwifery; however, after learning of doula work and the direct, personal impact it can have on a woman’s birth story, I knew this path was a better fit for me.  As a student of Mother Tree Birth Services, I completed a DONA approved birth doula training in 2014, followed by a 6-month intensive birth doula internship. I support all types of birth in all settings. I’m trained in Hypnobirth, the Mongan Method as well as traditional natural birth methods in addition to planned epidural birth. I will support your choices as if they were my own.

I am a mother to 7 and grandmother to 3 toddlers. My children range from 16-31 years old. Yes they are all mine and I gave birth to every one, plus 4 in Heaven. When I gave birth to my children I was able to do 6 of them unmedicated and all were delivered vaginally with no significant damage to my lady parts. All a testament to good education, faith, and great, knowledgeable caregivers. I would love to work with clients who are seeking this kind of birth. However, my passion and calling is to help parents to have the birth they are desiring, and to support them in their journey no matter the method; whether vaginal, unmedicated, epidural, C-section(planned or emergency), hospital, birth center, or at home. When I first started in the business of helping people I worked as an alcohol and drug counselor at a residential treatment facility. I worked with and guided people from very diverse backgrounds. That work has directly applied to my ability to effectively communicate with and support others. After my time as a counselor I co-founded and currently co-own a personal training business that specializes in training folks who are pregnant and postpartum. Becoming a doula seemed like a natural next step as an extension of what I'm already passionate about doing: helping and empowering people.

I am trained in Reiki and reflexology and while I was in massage school I took classes in pregnancy massage and labor massage.
