As a health educator by degree, my desire to support & champion others flourishes every time I hear a birth story. This fascination I have for all things pregnancy, birth & postpartum that led me to become a doula stems from my own experience advocating for my birth wishes and learning to trust my intuition. I've experienced a range of birth scenarios, including two cesarean sections, and three VBAC births. After my initial two C-sections, I felt a strong desire for a better birth experience. This led me to immerse myself in research about birth and VBAC options. With the knowledge I gained, I felt empowered to pursue a VBAC and was successful in achieving three vaginal births. I am passionate about educating and empowering other women to understand their options and feel supported in making the best choices for their own birth journey. My desire to become a doula first took root in experiences I had volunteering with local organizations and non-profits when I was in high school. My passion for community-based care began in the basement of a neighborhood church, where I first volunteered with a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families find and keep secure housing for their children. From these initial experiences, I got to witness first-hand how important it is for families to be well-informed and unconditionally supported in order to thrive together. The roots of my work as a doula and student midwife are the same as they were back then, before I even began birth work : when families are given non-judgemental support and evidence-based education during their transition into parenthood, they can have the most satisfying, empowering experience possible.
