I’m Hallie, the founder and CEO of Better Beginnings. My passion for supporting women and families through the incredible transformation into parenthood began with my own journey. After experiencing the challenges of the postpartum period with my first two children, I felt called to create a resource that could make this transition smoother and more supportive for others. That’s how Better Beginnings was born. Today, I’m proud to lead one of Minnesota’s premier teams for postpartum doula and lactation support. Our team is highly trained and deeply committed to providing compassionate, expert care to families during this pivotal time. As a certified lactation counselor and certified postpartum doula, I’ve spent over a decade working with mothers and families, helping them navigate the early days and beyond with confidence and reassurance. My work is grounded in both personal experience and professional expertise—I’m a mother of four, and I know firsthand how deeply the journey into motherhood transforms us. Supporting families isn’t just my profession; it’s my calling. My mission is to make quality postpartum care accessible and to create a nurturing community for mothers as they embrace each stage of motherhood and self-discovery. I’m grateful to share in this journey with you and look forward to supporting you along the way.

My name is Maggie Mau, and I am a mom of two girls and two very sweet rescue pups, Hopper and Eleven. My partner is a longtime teacher for Saint Paul Public Schools and we have lived in the South Como neighborhood in Saint Paul for the last 15 years! As a family we enjoy camping, hiking and exploring our country’s beautiful national parks. It is not odd to find us hammocking up at Como park, picking mulberries and reading :) I enjoy running, gardening, reading and baking and hosting regular gatherings of family and friends. I have been in the Twin Cities nonprofit sector my whole career, and the passion that I feel for the success of individuals and families in our community is now being carried forward in a different, but equally important way – through the support and empowerment of families as they navigate their birth journeys. I believe in leading with empathy and deep listening, in order to best support families to create their own powerful birth experiences. I feel humbled and honored to be able to share space and offer support to you - the amazing parents and parents to be!
South Saint Paul, Minnesota
I’m Paige and I’m a mom of 3. I spent most of my young adult life working with people with developmental disabilities. After that, I received my Sign Language Interpreting degree from Saint Paul College and worked with Deaf/Hard of Hearing folks before becoming a stay-at-home mom. I have spent the last several years raising my kids. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s my favorite job yet! Now it’s time for me to do what I really love: postpartum work! I have always been passionate about families, pregnancy, birth, babies, and postpartum. Parents deserve so much more support and education as they are growing their families. Many people tend to focus only on pregnancy and preparing for birth, but they don’t spend time preparing for postpartum. My goal is to help families be more prepared and supported for all that comes when adding a new baby to the family. I want families to have a smoother and more peaceful postpartum experience. I am based out of South Saint Paul, Minnesota and am currently serving the greater Twin Cities area.

I am a South Minneapolis-based birth doula and massage therapist. I have been a bodyworker for eight years, and co-own Total Solace Massage in Uptown, Minneapolis. I have attended trainings by DONA (2018) and Community Aware Birthworker (2024). My approach to birth is open-minded. I believe my role is to help you have the right experience for you, to make sure you know what options you have, and then help you navigate whatever is in the cards. Regardless of your birthing wishes, I bring my grounded, dedicated presence to my clients before, during and after the birthing time. Much of my life orbits care-work, especially through building strong community connections and supporting human bodies as they navigate change. Outside of birth and bodywork, I train in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, I’m slowly learning to bake bread, and I am trying to befriend the neighborhood crows.

Homemade Birth upholds the body's natural birth design while empowering families to craft unique and meaningful birth experiences. Just as homemade evokes the warmth and comfort of home, I aim to provide the same sense of security and familiarity during childbirth in any setting. And if you want to birth your baby where you made your baby, I’m here to help you prepare for your home birth every step of the way. As one of life’s most beautiful moments, your birth deserves the same personal care and attention as anything homemade. As a birth doula and perinatal occupational therapist, I love to help people find success and fulfilment in everyday activities, like birth! With eight years of experience working in mental health and addiction recovery, I bring a unique and compassionate skill set to provide empathetic, non-judgmental support to clients who may be facing additional challenges during their pregnancy and postpartum journey. Having had two home births myself, I have a deep appreciation for the unique and intimate experience that birthing at home offers. While I work with clients in all birth settings, I bring an experienced perspective to those planning a home birth. No matter where you choose to welcome your baby, I promote the familiarity and warmth of home in your birth space. I live in South Minneapolis with my husband and three young boys who keep us active and exploring our city. We enjoy biking the Mississippi River trails and trying new playgrounds (bonus if they have a coffee shop or food truck nearby!).

Your friendly neighborhood birth doula here to support YOUR birth! Daisy Doula MN attends hospitals, birth centers, and home births. A doula works alongside you in the prenatal, birthing time, and postpartum. I am a birth doula residing in South Minneapolis. I have a lot of interests and passions that led me to find birthwork. I find it perfectly intersects science and data, bodywork and movement, direct advocacy, and human connection. I love to laugh and cry with you, holding space for your emotions and experiences. I enjoy sharing my knowledge while being curious about everything I don’t know. After completing a B.S. at the University of Minnesota and a stint living in France, I started working as a consultant for our local utility companies, implementing an energy efficiency program for new home construction. By this time I was deep into a yoga practice and took a yoga teacher training at Yess Yoga in 2018. I learned so much and it exposed me to many holistic practices within the 8 limbs of yoga. Meanwhile, my all-female consulting team started expecting. They would come to the office with so much new information and questions after doctor/midwife appointments, not to mention what everyone was saying on the internet! I was so curious about it all! I discovered what a doula was and that people did it as a profession. Not long after I am happy to say I found a doula training and haven’t looked back.

Hi there! I’m Megan (she/her). I’m so glad you’re considering doula support for your or your partner’s upcoming birth. I believe all parents deserve judgement-free, evidence-based support during their labor, birth and postpartum. My journey to fully birth obsessed began during my first pregnancy. I needed to know all the things and hear all the stories. I quickly learned that many birthing people, especially those in marginalized communities, do not receive the care they deserve during their journey to and through parenthood. This is when I discovered doulas and the support they provide. So I hired my doula, had two supported and empowering in-hospital birth experiences and went on my way as a mom of two, working a typical 9-5 in corporate marketing— never quite shaking a new found desire to make a difference in the birth community. Fast forward a few years, endless heart-to-hearts with my family and friends about making a change and I finally enrolled in a doula training. I truly believe this is what I’m meant to do and I’m so glad to have found my way here. My goal as a birth and postpartum doula is to empower birthing people and their partners through judgment-free and evidence-based support. When I’m not doula-ing, I’m usually spending time with my husband, our two daughters and two elder pups. Before parenthood and a pandemic hit, you could find us skiing, hiking, trying new restaurants, taking on a house project we probably should have left to professionals or binging our favorite shows. Now, you’re more likely to find us at a local park, swimming pool or in our backyard. A meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee or glass of wine is the way to my heart. I am so honored to serve birth and postpartum clients in Minneapolis, St. Paul and all the surrounding suburbs.

"Most of us did not learn when we were young that our capacity to be self-loving would be shaped by the work we do and whether that work enhances our well-being." – bell hooks. This is a quote that has stuck with me as I explore my career path. Becoming a doula is something I did not follow through with until the murder of George Floyd. Seeing the striking images of pregnant Black mothers protesting around the country ignited the fire in me to finally complete my training to become a certified perinatal educator - meaning I can provide childbirth education, prenatal support, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and newborn care support. But my calling to birth work started on the day I was born with my mother being hospitalized for 2 months postpartum from an avoidable mistake during an emergency c-section. I value empathy, collaboration, and being open minded. As a doula, I am intentional about serving my clients in a way that supports self-empowerment, so they feel they have all the information they feel they need to make the best decision for them and their baby/babies. I do not shy away from vulnerability, and I believe this allows me to have relationships with my clients built on trust.

Hi all! I'm a DONA Trained Birth Doula who provides empathetic, personalized care to ensure families feel heard, respected, and supported at every stage. With my background in public health and a passion for improving maternal and child health, I strive to create a safe, empowering space for families to thrive emotionally, physically, and mentally. Additionally, I’m committed to offering evidence-based resources to families so they can approach birth with clarity, confidence, and peace of mind. My journey into birth work began with an early passion for supporting families, leading me to study public health. As I learned more about the challenges families face during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I became determined to advocate for care that works to empower families and reduce health barriers. A life-changing medical diagnosis at age 22 deepened my understanding of vulnerability, resilience, and the importance of compassionate care. It was this experience that has shaped my approach to supporting others through some of their most transformative moments. This, combined with my education, led me on the incredible path of being a doula. I understand the importance of emotional support and informed decision-making in creating a positive, empowering experience. I’m dedicated to offering families the tools and comfort they need to feel safe, calm, and confident throughout their entire experience. Every family and person is unique, and I believe that meeting each one with an open heart is the best way to ensure they feel seen, supported, and in control of their health, decisions, and future.

Here is a little background on me (the short version) - I started working at KinderCare during my summers in college. 2016-2018. August of 2018 I started nannying for a 15 month old while I was still finishing my Bachelors Degree. I stayed with that family until I graduated college in May of 2020. (I actually still have contact with this family and remain very close with them.) I graduated college from UMN Twin Cities with a BS in Child Developmental Psychology. After college I worked as an ABA therapist for Kiddos with Autism. Then I moved to a school district and worked in SPED with kiddos with EBD (emotional behavioral disorder). Finally that brings me to my current job 2020-now. I work as a Guardian ad Litem for the State of Minnesota. Essentially a cross between an attorney and a child advocate in the family court system. I am looking for some part time work for a couple of reasons, but the main reason is I recently lost my mom to chemotherapy complications in May of 2024. Since then I have been trying to find things that bring me joy in such dark times. Children are that joy for me. While I work with children in my regular career, I want to get back to my roots in providing direct one on one care for kiddos.
Edina, Minnesota
I have always been drawn to newborns, infants, children of all ages, and their families. There is a richness in family life that always brings about such a great sense of wonder and awe. There is a way a baby or toddler looks back at you and you know they don’t care what color your hair is, how many wrinkles you have, if you are overweight, underweight, or have zero sense of style. They just know how to LOVE. It is that unconditional love and trust in a baby’s eyes that instilled a strong desire in my heart to protect this innocence and trust by providing families with care providers they could trust. Care that is always gentle, loving, slowly paced, curious, and joyful. We want to bring this into your home.
