Nia Speight is trained through Madriella Doula Network and Virginia-State Certified, offering full-spectrum doula support from pregnancy through postpartum recovery. She’s worked within the family service profession for nine years, offering traditional yet personalized support. She also dedicates time advising families who need healthcare referrals, sibling assistance, and bereavement support. ⋆。°✩ As a mother who has experienced an unmediated home-birth, Nia fully understands the physical, emotional, and informational support families need, whether they plan to have a physiologic or medicated birth — both choices require the same level of mindfulness and preparation. She believes mothers should prepare for the internal experience of childbirth and postpartum by discovering ways to feel their absolute best, however that may look for them. Nia enjoys helping families prepare for their birth journey by narrowing down on what is most important to them, sharing pain management techniques, preparing for postpartum recovery, and offering tips to support their personhood and autonomy in the hospital environment. In postpartum, she offers hands-on support to ensure parents are well-nourished, comfortable, and rested. Mothers can expect traditional postpartum recovery support such as warming meals, foot baths, and belly binding. Overall, her goal is to be a positive addition to every mother’s care team! ⮕ visit www.vabirthdoula.com for more info!

Nia was heaven sent for my whole birthing process. She was extremely patient, kind snd accommodating. I am a second time mom with a huge gap so it was like the first time all over again. Nia helped to ease my fears by informing of options I was not aware of and weigh pros snd cons of each. She helped me create s birth plan and was my voice when I was hesitant to speak. Exercises, literature, in home sessions, phone support and postpartum visits…she does it all with grace. She helped me bring my baby boy into the world and for that I will forever be grateful. Thank you Nia❤️

I hired amy in 2025 for my first pregnancy PRICING: Amy had great pricing that was a little bit lower than most doulas you would find in KC proper. She was incredibly helpful in submitting paperwork so my work would reimburse me(trust me it was a lot of hoops to jump through and she did them with a smile) CLASSES: I’ll start by saying I was definitely someone who listened to a birth story or hypno birth video nearly every day on my drive into work. I think her classes offered great advice but much of the material if you were like me and constantly listen and read things could be learned online. I will say while I did feel like most of it was refreshers and was good to talk through different coping strategies, birth preferences, positions (this I felt was something I didn’t know much about and she had many print outs for), and ways to advocate for yourself. The longer version of will be at the end but I had to have a very quick delivery due to complications and my husband was able to really speak up and buy me some time using the strategies that Amy had made sure to really emphasize. I do think Amy had a lot to do with him telling the Drs. I need a few private minutes and asking for a different nurse to help me make my decision. ON CALL SUPPORT: Amy was so sweet and there was one time I had a rough appointment and was feeling beat down. She invited me to her house to chat and walk through my emotions. She was always there for a phone call or to help me find resources when I had questions L&D: I had an induction. We had built a plan with Amy for when I was further along and in need of support then she would come to the hospital. Unfortunately I had to have an urgent c section about 1 hour into my day. With that said I don’t have a lot of input on L&D with her as she was not the one we were frantically calling/ texting as I was going to the OR. She did show up after and offered to bring us food or any kind of comfort measures. She also offered to swing by to allow my husband some time out of the hospital (my folks were there so we didn’t take her up on this). I know Amy would’ve been there had we texted her because she was checking in frequently throughout the night when I was getting my cervix softened and rough when they started the pitocin POST PART: Amy was great about checking in and making sure I was supported. I was not super mobile and also had sooooo many people stopping by, she allowed me time that I much needed before my post partum visit. From the outside looking in - I could see this visit as even more helpful if you did not have a lot of people around the area. Overall Amy was great, you can tell she loves what she does and care deeply about her clients. I really leaned on some of the earlier teaching and strategies she gave me when I was told that my day was going to end differently than I expected.

I’m a caregiver who believes children thrive best when they feel safe, seen, and genuinely understood. I approach each child as a whole person—with their own personality, emotions, and way of learning—and I work to support them with patience, consistency, and respect. I value routines, clear communication, and creating calm, nurturing environments where children can explore, grow, and build confidence at their own pace. My philosophy is rooted in connection first. When children feel emotionally secure, everything else follows—learning, behavior, and independence. I partner closely with parents because consistency between home and care matters. I take pride in being dependable, attentive, and intentional in the way I show up each day. Caring for children isn’t just something I do—it’s work I take seriously, with heart and purpose.

Ashley is Amazing , compassionate, understanding , flexible, patient and loving. I love and value that she advocates for my wants and needs. Her being a mommy and woman herself shines through how well she really relates to what are all the motions and vulnerability we experience during birth that i never really even knew to pay attention to until I met with Ashley. Alongside her compassion she doesnt ignore core values of your beliefs and expectations as planet fitness would say she gives that judge free zone, or we listen and we don't judge. Im Thankful and grateful to have crossed paths with the heaven sent angel she is, forseeking and wanting to experience a doula since learning about them im glad she was matched with me to give me an unforgettable experience for what is my first pregnancy with Twins but also my final pregnancy/labor & Birth experience. "I can not recommend Jenn (Destiny Doula) enough! After having a c-section with my first born I was determined to have a vbac for my second pregnancy and wanted extra support to ensure that my wishes were heard! I started searching for a doula and after chatting with Jenn on the phone I knew she was a perfect fit. I was concerned for my husband when it came time for labor and delivery wanted to be sure that he was also taken care of so I could remain as calm as possible! Jenn is a saint, she listens and understands to what you’re wanting and she knew what to do to help me through labor when I didn’t even know what I needed. I still remember the calming smell of the essential oil she had misting in my room, the dimming of the lights and quieting the beeping machines. She’s like a Mary Poppins; she rolls in with everything needed and is so reassuring without stepping over your wishes at anytime. After 12 hours and vomiting through labor she was there to welcome our baby girl all while documenting it through pictures that I didn’t even realize were being taken. I cannot thank her enough for empowering me and helping me have the birthing experience I desired.

I believe birth is not just a physical experience; it’s a profoundly emotional and spiritual transformation—for the mother and the entire family. My philosophy centers on honoring your intuition, supporting informed choices, and holding space for you to feel seen, heard, and respected at every stage of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I meet you where you are—whether you're planning a serene home birth, a hospital delivery, or anything in between. Through education, advocacy, and unwavering support, I help parents navigate their options and move forward with confidence and clarity. The postpartum journey is just as important—and sacred—as pregnancy and birth. I believe this period deserves just as much care and intention. My approach is rooted in nurturing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—while creating a soft landing for you to heal, bond, and grow into your new rhythm. Whether you're a first-time parent or welcoming another baby into your family, I offer nonjudgmental support, compassionate listening, and practical help tailored to your unique needs. From emotional reassurance and newborn care guidance to light housework and breastfeeding or bottle feeding support, I work to create a calm, grounded environment where your recovery and your baby’s transition are deeply honored. My experience with Bridgette was fantastic. My main reason for using a doula was I wanted someone in the birth room to be a fierce advocate while I was medicated and in pain and unable to advocate for myself. She was that and so much more. I had to push for 4 hours to get my little one out after already being in labor for 18 hours. The doctor said I was close to needing the vacuum to get her out and I credit Bridgette's knowledge, encouragement of frequent position changes while pushing and encouragement to keep hydrated and nourished with clear liquids to why I was able to get my little one out without the vacuum. Another thing that was a great help was giving my overwhelmed partner guidance on the best ways of helping me and keeping him calm and involved in a stressful situation. In addition to that she got the BEST pictures of the delivery while respecting the fact I didn't want any from the angle you could see my more intimate areas. I'll cherish those pictures forever. My birth was a beautiful wonderful experience. I have to credit part of it to luck but the majority of it to Bridgette.

Hi everyone! My name is Grey Graham, and I am a Certified Postpartum and Birth Doula, as well as a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor. Currently, I service South Florida (primarily), but I am open to traveling to North Florida, as well as any neighboring states. In my honest opinion, I think children are a precious gem, they are Gods gift to us here on Earth. They're just so sweet and actually quite fun to be around, I believe that they are the future and we can learn more from them then we think. I also love to see people happy and enjoying the life we've been blessed with. I decided to become a doula become after constantly stumbling across people with fears/ bad stories about giving birth and having children. I saw that people were afraid of having an actual baby, anxious that they'd be abandoned in the delivery room, and nervous about how to take care of them after. I've heard moms break down thinking they're not doing enough and failing their infant. That's where I come in. My ideal practice is to give judgment free help families adapt to bringing their baby home, understand any concerns they have, and hopefully aid them into becoming able to enjoy this milestone of their life.

I can’t recommend Alora at Zenlena Partum Care enough! She supported me through my prenatal care, labor, birth, and postpartum journey, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better doula. She helped me prepare for labor, guided me through laboring at home for as long as possible, and kept me feeling calm, informed, and confident every step of the way. She also made sure my partner knew exactly how to support me by teaching him countermeasures, which made such a difference during labor. What stood out most was how much she genuinely cared. Her support didn’t stop after delivery she continued to check in and make sure I was doing well. If you’re looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive doula, I highly recommend Alora at Zenlena Partum Care. I would choose her again without hesitation. 10/10!

We are so grateful for Marissa! I knew from the moment we met she was the doula for our family. Her calm presence and joyful spirit was just what we needed for our pregnancy journey. Our meetings were informative and fun, and we felt so prepared going into labor. Marissa was extremely supportive through the whole process- always checking in to see how we were doing. She was a rockstar through delivery and stayed with us through the night until our daughter was born. I felt confident between her and my husband that I would be taken care of when I was unable to adequately make decisions during labor. On top of that, our two postpartum visits were helpful and honestly just comforting! At the end of our time together, we were sad to say goodbye because Marissa is forever a part of our family!

Postpartum care is essential for both mother and baby. It is important to make sure that your mental, emotional, and physical well-being are supported and balanced during this important season. Having an extended village is also incredibly valuable, which is why I chose to invest in a doula during this pregnancy. Mrs. Sabrina Cooper, @from_womb_to_mom, is truly a phenomenal doula. Mrs. Cooper supported me throughout my labor and delivery and served as my advocate during moments when I could not remember certain needs and details included in my birth plan. One of the greatest parts of my experience was the love, care, and support she provided during my postpartum journey. I booked her for two weeks, and during that time, I was able to get much-needed rest, eat nourishing meals, and learn helpful techniques for caring for my newborn. I miss her already! Doulas are needed, and I truly believe we should see more of them supporting families in our hospitals and homes. If you are currently pregnant and located in the Hampton Roads area, please book Mrs. Cooper now! The love, support, guidance, and care that you and your baby or babies will receive will truly make your experience unforgettable. Thank you so much, Mrs. Cooper, for everything you have done for me and my family. Your support has meant more than words can express. May GOD continue to bless you and the beautiful work you do. 🙏🏾🫂👶🏾 Mrs. Cooper captured the hospital picture of my newborn. I think she should go into photography. 🤗 Website: https://www.fromwombtomom.com/

When my husband and I were seeking a doula, we initially selected Mylah due to the affordability of her services. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that she consistently exceeded the original scope of her responsibilities. She genuinely demonstrates care for her clients, at least that was certainly our experience. Without delving into excessive detail, employing a doula was a crucial decision for support during this pregnancy. I have historically encountered difficulties advocating for myself with various medical professionals, my family, my workplace, and virtually all aspects of my life. I had grown quite weary of these challenges, but Mylah was instrumental in making this entire journey a success for us. She remained steadfast in her support, never dismissing my feelings, and consistently checking in on my husband and me, even inquiring about our son to see how he was adjusting. We dedicated months to crafting the birth plan, and she provided me with videos and feedback on exercises to prepare my body for the approaching day. When circumstances necessitated a medically induced labor, she maintained her composure. Adapting to the situation and providing the stability we needed for a successful unmedicated labor followed by a medicated vaginal birth. It is safe to say that without her, I do not believe I would have mentally navigated this pregnancy well. Previously, although I couldn't articulate it at the time, I experienced the onset of postpartum depression shortly after my son's birth. This time, despite being connected to a continuous infusion of IV medications, experiencing minor bleeding after birth, receiving significantly less support from other sources, and encountering numerous additional challenges, I can joyfully state that I am thriving, not merely surviving. I am uncertain how the remainder of this year will unfold, but I am confident that I will genuinely cherish the memories of my daughter's birth and newborn days. Thank you, Mylah, for helping me positively reframe my previous birth experience. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. To any of my friends or colleagues who may require a doula, I will wholeheartedly recommend your services.

Gena was an absolute gift as we navigated the first few weeks of our son’s life. Having had a very difficult postpartum period with my first son, I did all I could to prepare for the birth of my second son which is how I met Gena. She was able to immediately put me at ease when my anxiety was front and center and helped me get centered when things felt extra difficult. She had faith in me when I wasn’t so sure and we talked about life and newborns striking a perfect balance of knowledge and friendliness that is hard to find. If you get the chance to work with Gena you will be all the better for it. I highly recommend her.

Hi! I’m Tunisha (Nisha), a passionate certified birth/postpartum doula, mother of three amazing kids. My own experiences with pregnancy and birth taught me just how transformative this time is, and my philosophy is simple: every parent deserves to feel empowered, respected, and safe, no matter how their birth unfolds. Before becoming a professional doula, I was the go-to person for my friends and family, providing hands-on support, encouragement, and care during their pregnancies and early postpartum days. I believe in 'mothering the mother'—offering calm, non-judgmental, and practical support to help you navigate this incredible journey. I would be honored to hold space for you and help you welcome your baby with confidence.

Recent review

Tunisha became my doula when I was 7 months pregnant. Throughout my journey, we had zoom meetings and communicated daily. Tunisha always checked in on me and shared informative resources for my pregnancy. Fast forward to the actual day of giving birth. Tunisha came to the hospital with such positive energy and calmness. She guided me through every contraction by reminding me to focus on my breathing and by pressing on my hips and back (this got me through the pain). During the time of pushing, she spoke out with encouragement and I held on to her voice. She made me believe in my body and what my body was capable of doing. She was my advocate and my rock. Tunisha asked me if I wanted to labor and push in all the different types of positions; I did and I finally found a comfortable position. I gave birth unmedicated and this was an amazing experience. I always felt safe and secure with Tunisha by my side. I am forever grateful for the support of Tunisha.

I cannot recommend Michelle highly enough! She was an absolute rock star during the birth of my baby, who arrived 6 weeks early. Through all the uncertainty and stress, Michelle was there every step of the way to keep the calm and peace, offering unwavering support and reassurance. She was a true rock for my family, ensuring I was taken care of and advocating for me throughout the process—especially during the scarier moments when doctors weren’t explaining things clearly. Michelle stepped in to make sure we understood everything. Her compassionate presence made a world of difference. On top of that, she captured beautiful, meaningful pictures when we first brought our baby home from the NICU. I HIGHLY recommend Michelle for anyone looking for a dedicated, kind, and supportive doula.
