LaTory has been an incredible asset for our family since the day we got home from the hospital with our son Lachlan. She arrived right on time as soon as we got home from the hospital and has been with us every week since. She has a calm yet upbeat and optimistic demeanor, and she always puts my mind at ease. She follows my direction for how I want him to be fed, where and when I want him to sleep, what swaddles to use, etc but she also has very helpful suggestions when I need them as his needs are growing and changing every day. Our older kids love her too, she always has such a nice energy and a smile on her face. She is reliable and punctual, and very responsible. We are so lucky to have her!

I am Amanda Wheeler, owner and therapist for HealTHY Mind PLLC. A bit about me, I obtained a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Spelman College in 2002 and a Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, in 2004. Following my graduate work, I had the opportunity to provide in-home therapy for families who experienced challenges that might eventually lead to out of home placement for their child(ren) and/or adolescent(s). I also worked with families whose children were being reunited with them following temporary residential treatment. As a licensed clinical social worker I partner with individuals to promote overall wellness using a variety of strategies, including cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused approaches. I have over 15 years experience of working with families with young children. More recently, my work has been primarily with prenatal and postpartum mothers who experience depression, anxiety and social isolation. As key elements of a holistic approach to treatment, I support natural remedies such as optimal nutrition, exercise, building support systems, and meditation in addition to talk therapy and medication management.

Reid Byrne, Founder of Mother Nurture Midwifery, is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Adjunct Clinical Professor who has worked in a full-scope, hospital-based midwifery practice. Reidâs quest to enrich the mind, body and spirit has guided her inspiring career, culminating in the establishment of Mother Nurture Midwifery, providing compassionate, convenient telehealthcare. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Reid served five years active duty and two years reserve duty in the United States Marine Corps as a Communications Information Systems officer. During this time, she provided pastoral counseling while facilitating spiritual growth retreats for the military and their families. Reidâs spiritual nature led her to Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Practical Theology. While in divinity school, she became pregnant with her first child. Reidâs own experience of pregnancy and birth opened her eyes to her true calling: helping women through the most transformative time in their lives. She became a DONA certified doula and began to chart a path to midwifery. Reidâs journey in womenâs healthcare began during her yearlong apprenticeship with a home birth midwife. At the time, home births were a polarizing topic in Virginia and the midwives who supported them were often ostracized by the medical establishment. Recognizing this unfortunate reality, Reid shifted her focus to supporting pregnancies and births in a hospital setting, while maintaining relationships with home birth midwives, with the hope to collaborate in the future. Reid earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University and completed midwifery training with a Master of Science in Nursing at Frontier Nursing University. During her nurse-midwifery training, Reid also completed the Caritas Coach Education at the Watson Caring Science Institute and University of Colorado, learning how to be an even more caring and compassionate advanced practice nurse. Reinforcing her maternal mental health counseling capabilities, Reid has completed a post-graduate certificate in Advanced Evaluation & Management of Psychiatric Illness in Reproductive Age Women via the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Reid is a Certified Massage Therapist, Hypnotherapist, Doula, and Reiki Master/Teacher and has practiced these healing traditions throughout her career. In addition to providing telehealthcare directly to pregnant and birthing women, Reid established Mother Nurture Midwifery to encourage the collaboration between birth providers of all disciplines and settings. Having enjoyed empowering birth experiences with both of her children, the first in a hospital and the second at home, Reid entered the medical establishment to foster positive relationships between medical practitioners and the midwives who support home births. Serving as a bridge between these two worlds, Mother Nurture Midwifery connects women, midwives, medical providers and others in the birth community via the convenient and safe telehealthcare model.

My name is Traequanda Brock and my interest in birth and postpartum doula work came about during my graduate studies in the social work program. I have been in the social work field since 2011 and graduated from Howard University with my Master of Social Work degree. I have always been passionate about equity, especially for those who are marginalized. I learned of the disparity among black women/black birthing persons and the rate at which they werenât surviving due to birth related complications, that are completely preventable when given the right care. As I learned the huge impact doulas could have on the life of black women/black birthing persons, I knew where my calling was leading me. I am trained through the National Black Doula Association as a birth and postpartum doula. I know that my purpose is to be of service to others and that so happens to be in this field. My interest is for birthing persons to get back in touch with their bodies and all that it can do. This looks like, trusting yourselves and tapping into your intuition, nurturing your mind, body, and soul; with the nutrients you feed it, exercise, meditation, ancestral traditions; as well as leaning on your supports through this beautiful experience.
Traequanda was my doula. She was excellent from beginning to end. She kept my partner and I well informed, was intentional, and patient. Traequanda is a gem.
