I am Thandia from the island Jamaica,A Certified Newborn Care Specialist,Sleep Trained Certified and CPR certified.Migrated 10 years ago as a Social Worker where my passion was to serve. My love for newborns is natural from my childhood,A mother of 6 and 2 grandkids, knowing the stress of motherhood and unto the adjustment stage I knew my help would be needed in your homes,My experiences where self taught independently when I figured this was my career and upgraded myself getting trained and certified.I love having new parents anticipate learning from me while asking tons of questions and seeing their trust is placed in my hands with their beautiful little babies. At the end of my service I need to know families are back to normalcy while their bundle of joy is on schedule,Sleep trained, safe and is growing healthy at the same time.In my spare time I read books, enjoy my boys and play family games . My Philosophy is "Life is great when you be the one to make it beautiful"

Our choice of choosing Thandia was the best thing for our baby,Very professional, punctual, organized, respectful and supportive.Josh was born premature and we had some hitches on who we'd choose to hire,He spends 5 weeks in ICU and coming home with a weight of 3lbs 8 ounces was a challenge given my husband and I were first time parents,Thandia was recommended be a good friend of mine and she pulled through every task needed without guessing,we'd asked tons of questions and off the bat she responded with a variety of info that is still valuable today. We miss her so much and never wanted her to leave. She is a 10 out of 10.

Geeta supported our family as an overnight doula during the first few weeks of our daughter’s life, and having her in our home was such a relief and a pleasure. She not only made us feel more confident as parents, but took time to check in on my own recovery in addition to caring for our daughter. She was an absolute pleasure to work with!

Stariera B

2 years of experience

Hello and welcome! I’m Stariera, a certified full spectrum doula, wellness coach and a master’s level social worker serving people throughout New York City. I enjoy working with people and have developed an understanding of human behavior psychology, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving. My decision to become a doula was born from a desire to support women earlier in the journey — from pregnancy through birth and into postpartum — helping them assess, explore, and process both the joyful and challenging emotions that can arise. I believe that when we recognize and tend to difficult feelings early, we can create space for healing, confidence, and connection in the newborn phase and beyond. Prior to Doula care, I bring 10 years of experience as a Social Worker supporting individuals and families overcome challenges such as health issues, emotional stress, housing instability, family conflict, and behavioral or socio-emotional needs. In addition, I supported mothers navigating postpartum depression and the emotional complexities that can come with new motherhood. Through that work, I developed a deep understanding of how critical emotional support, self-awareness, and self-care are to the postpartum experience — not just for surviving, but for thriving. This background allows me to hold space for clients with empathy, nonjudgmental, and a deep awareness of the complexes life can bring; especially during the perinatal period.

Hi ! My name is Shane and I am the Melanated Mermaid Doula Services. I am a trained Fullspectrum Doula with a focus on Birth and Postpartum services. I am also open to supporting abortion related services. I have a love for birth and preparing for the beautiful event. My passion with working with expectant families is to help them connect with one another, prepare and feel confident during and after their births. I want the people I work with to gain a confidence with their bodies but also feel safe and secure in advocating for their needs during pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I have a passion for nutrition and movement so I am sure to include different health measures and these two factors in my services as well. I have a degree in Psychology from Syracuse University and take what I learn from my formal training in the classroom and incorporate it in how I handle and care for my growing families during our time together. I love to laugh and bring joy in homes of the people I work with and hope that along with educating you on your body and body's super powers I can also bring comfort and confidence on this birth journey.

I had the privilege of having Shane as my doula during my pregnancy and childbirth, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the support, knowledge, and comfort she provided throughout this journey. From the moment we began working together, Shane's warm and calming presence made me feel supported and understood. She possesses a deep knowledge of childbirth and postpartum care, which she shared with me in our prenatal meetings, empowering me with information and confidence as my due date approached. Shane was incredibly responsive to my needs and preferences, always ensuring that my birth plan was respected and advocated for. During labor, her expertise and soothing demeanor were invaluable, providing both physical and emotional support that significantly contributed to my positive birthing experience. She knew exactly when to offer words of encouragement, when to give me space, and how to assist in pain relief techniques that made a significant difference in managing my labor pains. Postpartum, Shane's support was just as impactful. She visited us at home, offering advice on newborn care, breastfeeding, and adjusting to our new family dynamic. Her follow-up care and genuine concern for our well-being were beyond what I had expected, making the transition into parenthood much smoother and less overwhelming. Shane's passion for her work and her compassionate approach to supporting families during one of the most transformative times of their lives is truly remarkable. I wholeheartedly recommend her services to anyone looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, empathetic, and truly dedicated to providing the best possible care. Thank you, Shane, for being an essential part of our journey into parenthood. Your impact has been profound and will be remembered fondly.

I have been helping to improve birth experiences in NYC and Westchester County for over a decade. This is my philosophy: You don’t become a different person when you become pregnant, begin labor, enter your birthing space, or bring your baby home for the first time. You’re still you, having an intense and transformative life experience. As your doula, I take the time to learn who you are and what will help you and your family to feel comfortable, informed, prepared, and ready to engage with your birth, both in advance and through the ever-changing moments of the birth process. I am passionate, flexible, and comforting, but also grounded, no-nonsense, and strongly evidence-based.

First of all, I must commend the Doula Project itself as an invaluable advocate. Sometimes the medical establishment views us within categories--especially when we are unusual as a result of identity--while the Doula Project listens to us as individuals in order to advocate for us to have the birth closest to our ideal within the context of medical wisdom. From the start I really appreciated Vicki's encouraging me to ask questions, to determine what the range of choices was, and to understand the benefits and risks of each decision. In my own case, I did decide because of advanced maternal age and medical advice to have an induced labor. Vicki was there to meet me at the hospital when I checked in, and she made sure that between her and her Doula Project partner on my case, I always had a doula to advocate for me from start to finish, through 27 hours of labor and beyond. Indeed, Vicki took the first photo of my baby, within minutes of her birth! From our first pre-birth meeting, Vicki correctly identified me as a physically fit person who would benefit from maintaining a physically active relationship to my labor and delivery. I brought a yoga mat and pilates ring to the hospital, and Vicki advocated for my being able to use them, even though my baby had to be monitored throughout the induced labor: we set up my yoga and pilates equipment right next to the bed, and Vicki advocated for periodic breaks from the monitor, especially in light of the fact that my baby was doing so well throughout. When I delivered my daughter, I surprised a number of the doctors, including one who thought a C-section would be a foregone conclusion, by delivering vaginally, after only about five minutes of pushing. I am very grateful to Vicki for her steadfast advocacy that led to such a positive birth experience for me and my daughter.

I work in homes and virtually as a Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula, dedicated to supporting families during the earliest and most transformative stage of parenthood. My work centers on evidence-based newborn care, sleep shaping/sleep conditioning, feeding support, and creating calm, sustainable routines that help both babies and parents thrive. I believe the postpartum period deserves thoughtful, knowledgeable guidance, and I approach each family with professionalism, discretion, and deep respect for their values. My goal is not only to care for newborns overnight, during the day, and 24/7, but also to empower parents with the confidence and education they need long after my time in their home has ended. I primarily work through the agency Well Supported Family, which provides experienced in-home newborn and postpartum support for families across the United States. Our team includes Newborn Care Specialists, Postpartum Doulas, RNs and LPNs who offer overnight newborn care, daytime postpartum support, and extended care for families adjusting to life with a new baby. Our work focuses on safe sleep practices, feeding support, and helping parents establish sustainable routines so the entire family can rest and recover during the early weeks at home.

Working with Karina during the first months was truly one of the best decisions we made as new parents. From the very first night, we felt calm knowing our baby was in capable, knowledgeable hands. She not only helped us establish a gentle and sustainable sleep routine but also took the time to explain the ‘why’ behind everything, which gave us so much confidence. Our home felt peaceful, our baby was thriving, and we were finally able to rest. We’re incredibly grateful for the professionalism, warmth, and steady guidance during such a vulnerable time!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our baby nurse, Alecia. She came at a moment’s notice when I unexpectedly delivered five days early and showed up at our apartment immediately after we arrived home from the hospital. As a first-time mom recovering from a C-section, her support was truly invaluable. Alecia’s calm, warm demeanor is unmatched. She is quite literally a baby whisperer. Within just 72 hours, she helped get our baby boy into a comfortable routine with eating and sleeping, and he feels completely at ease with her. She works around the clock, is incredibly attentive, and provides thoughtful, reassuring guidance on every aspect of newborn care. My husband and I genuinely would not have been able to do this without her. Alecia even accompanied us to our first pediatrician visit, offering support and confidence during what can be such an overwhelming milestone. She has been a bright, steady ray of light during an intense and emotional time, learning how to care for a newborn while I was also recovering from surgery. We wholeheartedly recommend Alecia to anyone looking for an exceptional baby nurse. You will not be disappointed!

I also provide help around the home whether that be cooking, cleaning or any light household chores. In terms of my achievements, I have had the privilege of helping numerous families navigate the wonderful yet challenging journey of welcoming a new baby into their lives. Through my work as a Postpartum Doula and Newborn Care Specialist. I have been able to support new mothers in their physical and emotional recovery while providing essential care for their newborns. By implementing effective sleep and feeding routines, I have helped establish a sense of calm and stability during the critical postpartum period.

Recent review

Breanna Gay was an amazing postpartum doula for our newborn baby boy Dekari from June 2023 to August 2023. She was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us through our first couple of months at home. Any questions we had, she was able to answer. As nervous first-time parents, we had so many questions, but she made us feel much more comfortable knowing that she was super experienced, and it showed! From the beginning, she was there to support us, even before our baby was born. We were able to text her all of our questions, and she replied quickly. She came in and helped us organize our nursery and set up all our gadgets. When our baby came home, she was there the first night, supporting us through breastfeeding and our long nights. She even helped tidy up the house and made me a little midnight snack because Iwas up all night. Breanna is such a joy to have, and I would recommend her to any family looking for support.

I can't say enough great things about Jossy. We hired her as our postpartum doula for the first six weeks following the birth of my son. From the moment I first spoke with her, I was drawn to her easygoing attitude and comforting nature - I spoke with a number of doulas, and Jossy was the one I felt most at ease with. The conversation flowed naturally, and it was immediately clear how much she loves being a doula. Even though Jossy was only helping us with postpartum care, she was so sweet in sending regular check-ins leading up to my due date and giving tips and suggestions for issues I was dealing with. When I first met Jossy in person, I immediately felt completely comfortable around her and felt comfortable having her in our home and with our son. She quickly felt like a friend I could confide in and joke around with, which made all the difference in the first few weeks of postpartum. Jossy was so loving and sweet with our son, and it was so clear that she cared very deeply about his safety, wellbeing and happiness. After our overnights, she was always checking in to see how she was doing and offering ideas and suggestions of things to try with him. No matter how tired she was after back-to-back overnights, Jossy always arrived on time and with a smile. She was also so sweet with our high energy dog. Thank you Jossy for everything (and I wish we could have you to help us forever)!
