Olivia Gooden

I want to introduce myself. My name is Olivia Gooden, CD(DONA)and I am the owner of Another Mother's Touch Doula Services. I became a mother 33 years ago with my first child. I remember being in that delivery room alone. Even though my mom and baby dad was on the outside in the waiting room. I was alone. I felt alone. Things happened so fast. Some of those things are still a blurry to this day. About 27 years ago, I witnessed my first child being born outside of my own two and it was amazing and since then I've witnessed or supported about 12 others and this was before I got my official doula training. It came so natural to coach, encourage, inspire these mothers through and after seeing those miracles being born over and over that I wanted to do this. Back then, at first, there wasn't a name for what I found myself loving to do. Then eventually I heard them calling it a birth coach but there wasn't anyone close by to train and certify me, which I found out as time went on that I didn't have to be certify just to support another mother. If we go back in history there were midwives and other women and mothers supporting the laboring mother but somewhere along time, we got a way from that but I wanted to be that support. As time went on I began to hear the word, Doula. Doula is a geek word that mean " woman's servant." It is also define as a trained companion who is not a healthcare professional and who supports another person through a significant health-related experience, such as childbirth, miscarriage, induced abortion or stillbirth, or non-reproductive experiences such as dying. (I don't support abortion). Types: There are a few types of doulas: birth doulas, postpartum doulas, and antepartum doulas. A birth doula provides assistance to another woman before and during labor and childbirth; a postpartum doula provides assistance to new parents after their baby is born (though some doulas offer both services). Once again there was no one close around me that had ever heard the word, doula. It began as a desire in my heart over 25 years ago. June 2020, during the pandemic I had the opportunity to go through doula training. Even though I don't have to get certified and dont have to have the training, I wanted the benefits that would come along with having both. Not only would I be a blessing to mothers and fathers but I could benefit from what the industry will be in the future. As a mother, it feels good knowing that you have the support of another mother and/or woman by your side along with any other supporting person while you are bringing a precious gift in the world while you are at your vulnerable state. November 14, 2022 i became a certified Birth Dona (CD) through DONA International. Another Mother's Touch is here to support you.One mother supporting another mother. Trained and Certified. Olivia Gooden CD(DONA) Owner of Another Mother's Touch LLC. Doula Services Trained and Certified *CD means Certified Doula

My name is Janis Adams, I am a certified Labor Doula and I live near Atlanta. My background is in early childhood education. I am a mother of six and a grandmother of thirteen! I have worked in public school and currently hold a brokers license in Real Estate. Years ago, I went through labor and delivery with a couple I knew when they had their third child. Afterward both mom and dad thanked me for being the extra hands they needed! A week or so later T said, " You should think about becoming a Doula," you were so helpful! I thought to myself, "What's a Doula?" Since that time I have been involved with and supported many births over the years. The first time I ever went through birth as a support person was with my best friend 42 years ago; while I myself, was a week away from delivering my own first child. I have also been at the births of most of my grandchildren. I’ve also been there to assist, encourage and support my own daughters as they went through the birth experience for the first time. It was during the Pandemic that I enrolled and took courses to be come a labor doula. During that time the number of people that could be in the labor and delivery process was limited to just the mom and the dad unless you had a doula. One of my daughters and her husband were having their first child and they wanted me to be there. My daughter called and said to me that I had to become a doula! She gave me no choice! I am experienced with home births and water births. The things I do to relax are reading, gardening, sailing and traveling. Also, I have started a homeschool group and teach several students since the pandemic. In all, I have come full circle back to education but this time with adults and children!

I am a professional labor doula and childbirth educator. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia. I am a dedicated and compassionate labor doula, committed to empowering women and families throughout their pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum journey. With a background in mental health and a passion for supporting expectant mothers, I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and empathy to my role as a doula. My calming demeanor and reassuring presence help to alleviate anxiety and promote a sense of calm during what can be an intense and transformative experience. I have called North Georgia home for the last 18 years. I’ve been married to my husband Adam for 5 years. We have two boys under the age of four. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering on my church’s hospitality team, gardening, and spending time outside with my family. I became interested in becoming a doula after experiencing the benefits of hiring a doula for my second birth. I find great joy in walking with women in their motherhood journey.

I genuinely cannot begin to say how thankful I am for Alexis and how she walked with us through our journey to parenthood. We had two prenatal meetings where she met with my husband and I to talk through our birth wishes and just get to know us as people. She focused on getting to know the "why" behind our birth wishes and not just the "what." Her background in counseling was such a perfect fit with her doula services as she helped us walk through the crazy emotions that surround birth and becoming a parent. We talked through how I would feel emotionally if my birth didn't go "according to plan;" we talked about how our marriage was doing in the midst of the pregnancy. Her birth class was super helpful in it made us informed and prepared about what would and could happen during birth. She did check ins after every OB appointment to see how things were going and see how I was feeling every step of the way. When my water broke, she checked in every few hours to keep up with my early labor and give us tips for the early contractions and then met us at the hospital when I was in active labor. I had all back labor, and she and my husband took turns giving me counter pressure on my back for hours. She helped guide me on when to switch positions and try new tactics. She was even there to help with little things like moving our car because it was still parked out front. After our son was born, Alexis stayed with us a few more hours until we were fully settled in our recovery room. She did a follow up meeting with us about a week after delivery and just sat with us and helped me process my birth experience which thankfully was everything that I wanted, but it's still a lot to process. Alexis set up a meal train for us and even brought a meal herself. She texted and checked in with how I was healing, how I was doing emotionally, and just how I was adjusting to motherhood every few days after birth and then weekly for the first two months postpartum. My husband and I genuinely felt like we weren't in this alone, that we had a guide walking through it with us. It was so nice that my husband could support me emotionally and didn't have to worry about having all of the knowledge to specifically support me during labor - he could focus on being my husband and not my coach. We just felt so supported and encouraged the entire journey. She constantly went above and beyond what a typical doula would do. I cannot rave about Alexis enough, and our plan is to have her present for all future childbirths.

Growing up in a household that valued holistic health, I learned early on about the importance of caring for our bodies and staying active. My personal journey through health challenges in early adulthood emphasized the need to look beyond symptoms and find the root cause of issues. This experience also highlighted the significance of advocating for one's own health and finding medical professionals who truly listen. With a longstanding passion for helping others and sharing knowledge, I realized my true calling when I took a childbirth education class. This revelation led me to the world of doulas, where I discovered a profound need for support during the birthing journey. The term "Doula," which means "a woman who serves" in Greek, perfectly encapsulates my mission to empower families in their birthing experiences and health choices. My passion for photography beautifully complements my doula work, capturing precious moments during birth that families will treasure forever. This unique combination provides families with both emotional support and lasting memories of their birthing journey. In addition to my doula services, I offer childbirth education classes that guide and empower families. My goal is to help families find their voices and stand firm in their beliefs throughout the birthing process, instilling confidence and a sense of control. When I'm not busy supporting families or teaching classes, I enjoy spending time with my husband, George, and our adventurous cat, Grayson. Together, we explore the great outdoors, whether kayaking, hitting the beach, or hiking. If you are seeking a dedicated professional to make your birthing experience empowering and memorable, you've come to the right place. With me by your side, you can trust that your birth plan and needs will be fully supported throughout your journey.

As a first-time dad, I thought my main job during labor was to not pass out. Turns out, with Savannah by our side, I got to be an actual support system instead of just a nervous wreck holding a granola bar. From the first meeting, Savannah made both of us feel completely at ease. She answered every question, even my ridiculous ones like, “is there a wrong way to hold a leg during pushing?”. She helped us create a birth plan, and more importantly, she made sure we felt confident when things didn’t go exactly according to that plan. When labor started on a Tuesday at 2 AM, she was the first to text back ,faster than my mom, which is saying something. Lol. By Wednesday afternoon, after countless counter-pressure techniques, words of encouragement, and somehow keeping my wife calm through contractions that could bend steel, she was still going strong. I, on the other hand, was running on fumes and hospital vending machine coffee. She even reminded me to eat so I didn’t become the patient instead of the support partner. Then came the magic moment. As my wife was delivering our little one on Wednesday night, Savannah coached me through every step. She knew exactly what we needed even when we didn’t but she always asked before stepping in to make us feel comfortable. This whole experience was a blessing. Thank you Savannah for taking care of my wife and helping welcome our new addition to our family.

I can't speak highly enough about Shaniqua. She is warm, extremely knowledgeable, and puts you at total ease. Shaniqua was both my L&D doula and postpartum doula for my first born. I was ridiculously anxious about all things childbirth and newborn care, and Shaniqua was my number 1 support. She is a baby whisperer and absolutely loves her job. It is rare to find people that are so good at what they do. I recommend her to every one I know. If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with Shaniqua, don't hesitate to book her!!

What would I have done without Natalie? I don’t want to know! I was growing increasingly anxious throughout my pregnancy, as I was going for a VBA2C, and I frankly feared pushback from OB’s, and/or my birth not going how I was hoping by potentially being fearmongered into unnecessary interventions. So, I decided to hire a doula, for the first time ever, and as soon as I did, I instantly felt relief, knowing I had someone experienced on my side to guide, support, encourage, provide factual information, and help advocate for me as needed. Natalie was recommended to me by another doula in the area, and as I had previously seen her presence in various local mom groups, I was happy to go with her. From our very first messages and FaceTime meeting, I was happy with my choice as I instantly felt comfortable with her. The fact that she has many children and has experienced different birth scenarios herself, made me feel even more secure in my choice. All throughout the remainder of my pregnancy, she was always there whenever I had questions or doubts, always giving such great information, providing evidence for both sides, as well as sharing her own experiences. She would even send things that she came across on her own time, thinking it would be beneficial for me, and it always was! When my pregnancy came to a hard decision at the end, (things that were out of our control), Natalie accompanied me to an OB visit, and I’m so grateful that she did. She kept me calm and grounded, reminded me of all of the facts and risks, and she was so helpful in asking questions that I wasn’t able to muster up in the moment! That was huge for me. Overall, I have no doubts or regrets about how my birth went, and I credit that largely to Natalie. If I didn’t have her support and advocacy, I might be questioning if I really made the right choice(s) in the end, and then would likely be feeling unsettled. But I am happy and feel complete peace of mind, and that is so important! It felt like I had an experienced big sister throughout the whole process, looking out for me, and that’s exactly what I wanted and needed. She is precisely the kind of person needed for such important and I’d even say sacred work; considerate, warm, informed, fair, experienced, etc, and she’s also so generous! Bonus points to her for being natural-minded and proficient in herbalism too! If I have another pregnancy, I am absolutely going with Natalie again!

Jenn supported us with the birth of our first child. From the first time we met with her, Jenn exuded confidence and was very knowledgeable, which put us at ease. As first time parents, we didn't know what the process would be like and appreciated all of her tips and best practices that she shared with us. We felt informed and equipped to make the best decisions for our family. She helped us craft a birth plan, shared relevant resources with us and communicated with us often in the weeks leading up to the birth. Jenn is very responsive, punctual and professional while being down to earth and approachable. Not only did she care for me as the birth mother, but she also ensured that my husband was supported throughout the process as well—which was very appreciated by us. Jenn went above and beyond, staying with us for awhile after our daughter was born to make sure that we were well settled in our hospital room. We love that Jenn took photos and videos of precious moments that we will cherish forever. Jenn is thoughtful and caring and shared snacks and personal stories with us for our postpartum visit. We highly recommend Jenn and would hire her again in a heart beat if the opportunity arises!

Storm Savage

Yes, I was actually named after Storm from X Men, so standing up for what is right is in my DNA. My love for women’s health started at just 7 years old when I experienced my older sister give birth. Now at 23, I’m experiencing the journey firsthand as a first time mom. Conceiving naturally while navigating PCOS has been an absolute miracle, and it completely solidified my awe and respect for what our bodies can do. That personal experience shapes exactly how I show up as a birthworker. My approach centers on a holistic, body led style, leaning heavily into somatic movement and herbal wisdom (combined with evidence-based practices), to help you intuitively flow through labor. Just like my namesake, political advocacy is a massive part of who I am. When I'm not supporting births, I’m fighting for women and PCOS awareness, leading educational discussions, and speaking out against political injustice. I’m a member of the Atlanta Peach Book Club where we strengthen community through education! My downtime is filled with creative outlets and animal companionship. You can usually find me painting or relaxing at home with my pets. I have three cats and a dog who keep life cozy! I offer both in person and virtual care, always rooted in an open, judgment free space. Your background, values, and choices guide everything we do, and I would love to walk beside you through this massive life transition.

I cannot thank her enough for the incredible support she provided during my birth at Northside Hospital! Since I hired her quite late in my pregnancy around 37 or 38 weeks, we only had time for one long virtual prenatal visit, but she completely stepped up. Within just a few days, she supplied me with so many helpful handouts and information, including great resources for postpartum planning. I was really struggling to afford a doula since it isn't covered by my insurance, and the fact that she provided her care for free was a massive blessing. She was always personally available whenever I needed her by text or call. She answered all of my questions and was completely honest if there was something she didn't know, which I really appreciated. What I loved most was how comfortable I felt with her. We are close in age and knew each other previously, so there was absolutely zero judgment. She phrased medical things in a way that was so easy to understand. She was also incredibly thoughtful and culturally responsive; when I explained that I have trauma from past OBGYN experiences and felt uncomfortable with certain language, she immediately adjusted her wording to make me feel safe. We even hit a few hiccups with the medical staff during my time at the hospital, and she was right there by my side helping me through every single one of them. She is building a wonderful practice, and her dedication and honesty make her an absolutely great birthworker. She was perfect for me!
