As a first time mom, I knew I wanted to have a natural birth without an epidural. Since this was my first pregnancy, my husband suggested we work with a doula. Being fairly new to Georgia, we didn’t know where to start. But thankfully, a close friend of mine who is a nurse highly recommended Mrs. Patmon. I am so grateful she did. Mrs. Patmon is incredibly patient, passionate, and knowledgeable about what she does. She comes from a strong background in doula care and offers a holistic approach, always respecting her clients preferences. She made herself available to me at any time day or night which gave me so much peace of mind throughout my pregnancy. She helped me create a detailed birth plan and supported me every step of the way in carrying it out. During my third trimester, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and she guided me through it as best as possible. She also offers teas, oils, massages, exercises, stretches, and so many helpful techniques to prepare my body for a natural labor. When I went into labor, Mrs. Patmon showed up fully prepared and ready to support me. She made sure my medical team had my birth plan and advocated for my wishes throughout the process. During contractions, she provided hands on support with massages and used special oils that helped intensify my contractions and progress labor more quickly than I expected. I arrived at 4 cm dilated, 70% effaced, and -2 station and in less than four hours, I was pushing. My experience with Mrs. Patmon was nothing short of amazing. Before connecting with her, I was not going to use the service for my homebirth as I was not sold on the benefit after meeting with doulas in the Atlanta area and coming up unsuccessful due to feeling like a number for materialistic gain. My husband and I could not have imagined someone better to walk along side us through the birth process, especially for our first child. Christy is deeply knowledgable and an incredible leader. Me nor my husband had any issues getting questions or concerns answered with a vast amount of information, care, and prayer. Throughout my pregnancy, she gave me the knowledge and instilled the confidence to trust my body that it would do what it is created to do. If we have more children, Christy is certainly the person we will be calling! I had a precipitous birth, which Christy handled masterfully. We had a beautiful birth plan drawn up and everyone knew their roles. However, when push came to shove (no pun intended) Christy was able to quickly, professionally, and compassionately help us throw our plans to the side and was a wonderful advocate for me in the hospital when I was unable to advocate for myself. Though it was quick, because of Christy, I knew exactly what was happening through each stage of labor which kept me from being fearful. She was the thread of calm in the chaos of such a fast labor and made what could have been a rather traumatic experience a beautiful one.
