Hi, I’m Nikki, a dedicated doula and naturopathy practitioner, and owner of Scared Beginnings Birth and Wellness. As a mom of three, I have firsthand experience with the joys and challenges of motherhood. My own journey included struggling with unexplained infertility, and it was through embracing a holistic approach that I found the path to healing and conception. Originally born and raised in Texas, Jessica has called Arizona home since 2015. Although the heat is brutal, she prefers that to Texas or the cold any day. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business in 2022 while pregnant with her 4th daughter. She and her wife share 4 beautiful daughters whose ages range from toddler to teenager. Jessica is a certified postpartum and trained birth doula who has been supporting families since 2016. Her journey to this work started 5 years after motherhood began, when her new provider for her second pregnancy told her she was a great candidate for a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). After taking a childbirth education course and meeting her first ever doula, her mind was opened to the education, choices, and options there are when being pregnant, in labor, and freshly postpartum. Jessica is passionate about helping others access that knowledge and feel confident in combining education, intuition, and support to make the best decision for their baby. As a postpartum doula, her goal is to respect your sacred space and provide daytime or overnight support to help ease your transition from pregnancy to motherhood (or adding an additional family member). She uses her experience servicing clients homes, her education and training, and journey raising and caring for her own children, to lovingly support families whatever way that enhances their experience the most.

I first got into birth work after a tough delivery with my first little. I knew birth wasn’t meant to be scary. Birth is a transformative, inceredibly sacred experience that should be honored and not feared. In 2022 I left my job working for a federaly recognized tribe to persue birth work. In 2023 I officially launched by doula business and in 2024 I began assisting midwives who have been birthing babies for over 45 years. Working along side elders in the birth community has truly impacted the way I navigate and see birthwork. It has been an honor and extremely educational working along side these women. As a doula/birth educator I encourage mothers to listen to their intuition AND understand the way our bodies work to grow, nuture and birth our babies.
