Becoming a doula was from a calling rooted in my deep desire to support and nurture others. As someone who has always been sensitive to the world around me, I understand how important it is to feel safe, seen, and empowered, especially during major life transitions. My journey as an artist, nature lover, and spiritual seeker has taught me the value of mindfulness, connection, and holistic well-being. I’ve spent years exploring different ways to express myself and make a meaningful impact, and stepping into the role of a doula feels like a natural extension of that. My philosophy as a doula is centered on creating a safe and empowering space for expecting mothers who often face unique challenges in the healthcare system. I believe in the power of intuition, self-advocacy, and holistic care, integrating mindfulness and emotional support into my practice. I want my work as a doula to help mothers feel heard, respected, and in control of their birthing experience. I also see birth as a deeply spiritual and transformative process, one that should be approached with reverence rather than fear. By combining my knowledge, natural empathy, and passion for well-being, I aim to guide and support mothers through one of the most powerful moments of their lives.

Hi, I’m Courtney a postpartum doula and certified lactation counselor, and mom to a singleton and a set of twins. I’ve breastfed all three of my children for over a year, and through that experience, I found my true calling: helping new mothers feel confident, supported, and empowered in their postpartum journey. Feeding your baby is deeply personal, and I’m here to help you find what works best for your family. Whether that’s breastfeeding, formula feeding, pumping, or a combination. My priority is helping you feel informed and supported every step of the way. I bring patience, compassion, and a listening ear to every visit. This work is my passion, and I’m honored to support you during this beautiful, vulnerable, and transformative time in your life.

Hey badass birthing warrior! I'm a mom of two tiny humans, a certified Birth Doula, Birth Photographer and Childbirth Educator serving expectant families throughout Southeast Michigan. I usually serve within an hour of Jackson, MI. I got my start in birth work by being a wedding and family photographer first. Then on Pinterest, I found birth photography photos and I thought it was beautiful. So I got into birth photography and was hooked. Then after I had my first kid, I took a birth doula training and realized that this was my calling. Not everyone has an empowering birth story and I want to help change the cultural attitude around birth by making them excited, (It's okay to be a little nervous!), confident and prepared for birth. Birth is a transformational experience for both the birthing person and their partner.

Amanda is such a huge blessing! She is very knowledgable and a comforting, supportive presence during such a vulnerable time. My husband and I were not originally going to hire a doula, but at the last minute (8 months pregnant) we decided we would want the extra support for our home birth as we are both first-time parents. We found Amanda through Facebook recommendations, and she was able to meet with us quickly, answer all of our questions (even bring up points we hadn't thought of yet), and provide us with the resources and knowledge to have a successful home birth. She does offer some prenatal education classes and while we were not able to attend the first session due to how late we found each other, the second session was so worth it - especially the exercises for pain management! The day of labor she was quick to respond to us and even coordinated with our midwife so that I could focus on my labor and my husband could focus on me. She provided excellent guidance and support to my husband so that he was the one comforting and helping me during labor and she was able to step in when needed. She even took care of our dog! We truly could not have asked for a better experience or a better doula than Amanda, and we have both said that we would absolutely work with her again if we are still in the area!

I'm Stephanie with Gentle Birthing, and my interest in birth work was awakened the day my first child was born in 2010 at home, surrounded by our midwife and birthing team. It was at that point I realized that more women need to know their birthing options. We had 4 more home water births in South Carolina before returning to Southeast Michigan where we welcomed our 6th child at home in 2020. I enjoy learning about the physiology of pregnancy and the process of giving birth and am fascinated with all the different natural coping techniques for pain management. With each of my own births, I implemented something new I had learned along the way. I hope to support expecting mothers in the ways I have received encouragement and support from the birth workers in my life. Their support changed the way I thought about birth and what I was capable of doing.

Stephanie was a great help to us as we prepared for the arrival of our fourth baby and during delivery as well.

Chris was absolutely wonderful to work with. She has a great bag of tools and a lot of knowledge & experience to help you achieve the birth you want. I had a hospital birth and really appreciated how she was gentle but firm on techniques and suggestions to help me to continue to process during labor. I also very much appreciated that she backed my birth plan at the hospital (and helped me compose it during pregnancy) and was a wonderful advocate for me. If I have anymore babies, she is someone I want on my birth team again! She has also been so encouraging and helpful postpartum.

We so often are in search of magic, without realizing we have it right inside of ourselves. For me, becoming a mother has proven that to be true. Birthing Ancestors was created from the idea that when you have a child you are not only birthing a future generation, but you are also birthing yourself as a parent - someone’s ancestor. It is my greatest honor to holistically support you throughout every stage of your childbearing journey, and help you to discover the magic that has always been inside of you. Since becoming a certified Full Spectrum Doula in 2021, I have fallen deeply in love with this work. I have expanded my knowledge to support clients from fertility/preconception planning thru postpartum, with special interests in herbal and nutritional support. I also have 200hr yoga teacher certification giving me knowledge in anatomy, stretching and strengthening muscles, relaxation techniques, and preparing the body for labor.

Recent review

Micalyn is an amazing doula and I highly recommend her services. I am forever grateful for her crucial role in making my unmedicated, hospital birth a positive and empowering experience. The prenatal meetings were very in-depth and included healthcare during pregnancy, rehearsal of labor positions, and the construction of a birth plan. Micalyn also provided me with handmade herbal tea and was readily available via phone or text at any time I needed support. Going into my birth, I felt prepared and confident. I was immensely thankful for Micalyn’s presence during my labor and birth. Whether it was conversation or physical touch, her peaceful and loving presence was so appreciated. She made the hospital space as beautiful as possible with Christmas lights near the bed and flameless candles around the bathtub. Micalyn collaborated fabulously with the hospital staff, and everyone was very impressed with her. When I was pushing, she was the one who suggested the position change that immediately resulted in my baby’s delivery. Micalyn was right there by my side when my son quickly entered the world: she called to the midwife to catch him and her shoes got drenched with the birthing fluids! Our postpartum visits were extremely helpful. When my son was a few days old, she came over and taught me how to do things such as put a diaper on and wear a baby wrap. She also brought me another handmade tea for sitz baths, which felt amazing. Micalyn is clearly made for this work and I can’t recommend her doula services highly enough!
