My journey as an artist, nature lover, and spiritual seeker has taught me the value of mindfulness, connection, and holistic well-being. I’ve spent years exploring different ways to express myself and make a meaningful impact, and stepping into the role of a doula feels like a natural extension of that. My philosophy as a doula is centered on creating a safe and empowering space for expecting mothers who often face unique challenges in the healthcare system. I believe in the power of intuition, self-advocacy, and holistic care, integrating mindfulness and emotional support into my practice. We had 4 more home water births in South Carolina before returning to Southeast Michigan where we welcomed our 6th child at home in 2020. I enjoy learning about the physiology of pregnancy and the process of giving birth and am fascinated with all the different natural coping techniques for pain management. With each of my own births, I implemented something new I had learned along the way. I hope to support expecting mothers in the ways I have received encouragement and support from the birth workers in my life. Holistic nutritional full circle doula, Lorenda provides educational, emotional, and physical support to moms and their support team through their journey of parenthood. She received her certificate as community-based doula at Black Mothers Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) in 2018 and trained as a full circle doula with Shafia Monroe Consulting, 2022. In January 2023, Lorenda became a Medicaid Provider as a doula, and trains other doulas to become Medicaid providers for the state of Michigan. As a leader, Lorenda serves on the Doula Advisory Council with the State of Michigan and is the president at Motor City Doula Association where she leads monthly meet ups with other doulas in the community.
