✨ Hi friends! I’m Jess (she/her) — a queer birth & postpartum doula based in the Bay Area. I grew up around birth and babies (shoutout to my nurse mom!) and fell in love with supporting new parents early on. After seeing so many of my friends navigate birth and postpartum without the support they deserved and needed, I knew this was the work I was meant to do. I offer care that’s supportive, inclusive, and centered on you—your values, your vision, and your unique journey into parenthood. If you’re pregnant, postpartum, or just dreaming about building your family someday, I’d love to support you. 💛

Recent review

We were so lucky to connect with Jess through the Birth Companions when looking for doulas in our area who worked with our insurance. After our initial call with Jess, we felt energized and educated and grateful she had availability to work with us. Our early sessions were so informative. Jess made sure to answer all our questions and also prompted helpful reflection and discussion about birth planning that we hadn't yet considered. She previewed for us what the labor process might include and simultaneously assured us that she would be there to help navigate the hospital since you can't plan for everything. She gave us videos and literature, so we felt all the information we accessible and evidence based. When I went into labor, Jess was there at the wee hours of the morning and cheered me on the whole time. She helped with communication and advocacy (I wanted an unmedicated labor), supported my partner to participate (he caught the baby), and stayed with us as we got cleaned up and settles in postpartum. As first time parents, her calm confidence and converation was such a gift! I wholeheartedly hope every birthing parent gets a champion like Jess (or better yet...Jess!!) with them as they navigate the exhausting and amazing process of welcoming a baby.

ANGELINA, we have already made it clear to you. You have already went to yelp. We have reviewed your reviews., you go around making bad reviews because at a snap of a finger, one time visit we could not make due to an emergency induction for another mom. Out of 300 births, you are the only person who has ever tried to hurt my business the way you have. I personally feel that you have to heal in your postpartum that’s a priority to me versus my feelings at this point I have parted ways with you for more than one reason this is a public platform and I will not disclose any of your personal information. I did an absolutely fantastic job as doula , I did not ask you to write a review on this website, you made flaws claims and accusations about contracts. I have never made anyone sign. You made false claims about me not being communicative with you about a postpartum visit. You made false claims in regards to my professional professionalism. I helped watch your sweet baby boy while you were able to have a successful delivery. I have treated your family with absolute respect. But one thing I will not tolerate about my business as false accusation.. I will not move forward with any type of care in the future, and we have parted ways.

I'm a queer, Black birth worker offering sliding scale doula care in the East Bay. I was born and raised in Oakland and I only take on a handful of clients at a time so that I can give you as much individualized attention as possible. I trained as a full-spectrum doula in 2021 with Sumi's Touch and have been actively supporting clients in the transformative process of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for over a year. Before that, I worked as an infant-toddler teacher for years and I incorporate education on newborn care in my work as a doula. I believe that education and information is critical to you being able to make choices that work best for you and go into birth with confidence and grounding in your abilities and understanding of your own body and baby. The goal of every birth is to create an environment and process that is uniquely comfortable and grounding for the person giving birth and so I provide a number of prenatal sessions to prepare parents with the knowledge and tools to make their own informed decisions while also being ready to step in and advocate on behalf of the parents' needs at any point. I am particularly interested in mindful birthing and finding the methods of pain reduction that work for each person, building a birth environment that feels as familiar and homey as possible (music, lighting, calming scents, etc), and being anything and everything you may need from home to the hospital, whether that be a coach, cook, massage therapist, fierce advocate, or photographer. I also have an affinity for postpartum care that encompasses lactation support, postpartum healing, herbal remedies, baby care, or just doing your dishes so you don’t have to worry about that too.

I was in labor for three days, and I can’t imagine how I would’ve managed without Leila. She is the support every person deserves during this process. She listened to my needs and helped me create a birth plan that reflected my personality. At the hospital, she advocated for me fiercely, pushing for alternatives that aligned with my wishes, even when the medical team repeatedly fear-mongered. Postpartum, she offered invaluable advice that helped me process my labor experience and navigate lactation. I am incredibly grateful that I had her by my side.

I believe with every conviction that mothers hold innate wisdom to birth their babies. , I honor your intuition through holistic care and embodied practice—supporting you through pregnancy, birth, and the sacred postpartum transition. As your Sister in Christ, I offer faith-based birth support for those wanting so. We approach your labor as an act of worship—leaning on prayer and rejoicing to reveal God's strength and love for you. I am a community-first birthworker, passionate about making holistic wellness, coaching, and education accessible to women in my community. My work blends embodied childbirth education and hands-on support across pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As a Birthing From Within–trained mentor, I offer education that goes far beyond information—our work honors the inner journey, emotional landscape, and transformation that birth invites. Alongside this, I provide holistic, nurturing care including herbal remedies, gentle bodywork, mindful movement, breathwork, and food as medicine—supporting the body’s natural physiology while tending to the nervous system and spirit. My Philosophy: Honoring the MotherBaby Dyad I intimately understand and uphold the crucial MotherBaby bond and believe in family-oriented care that follows natural instincts. This belief shapes every facet of my postpartum support and education: Attachment Parenting: I educate and support families in honoring bonding practices such as exclusive breastfeeding, safe bed-sharing/co-sleeping, elimination communication, and babywearing. Holistic Recovery: I offer nourishing, restorative care in the first 40 days, drawing from my training as a Postpartum Practitioner mentored by Pilar Chandler, Doctor of Ayurveda for Women’s Health. Lactation Philosophy: The Power of Human Milk I am deeply committed to the evidence supporting human milk as the optimal standard for infant nutrition. While I support all feeding choices with heart, my philosophy is rooted in the conviction that exclusive breastfeeding provides unparalleled protection and nourishment. This is not just "good"; scientific consensus confirms that breast is best for both maternal and infant health outcomes.

I love working with pregnant moms, and what makes me unique is that I offer quality, personalized care for moms and their birth partners. I am calm, down to earth, patient, and heart-centered. I like keeping my clients inspired and informed about their care. I am compassionate. I advocate fully for the families I serve and truly feel that this is my calling. My primary goal is to help moms feel safe and supported with smooth pregnancies and healthy pregnancy outcomes. Together we can do this :) As a holistic doula, I use evidence-based research in my practice and have over twenty years of experience working in holistic health, serving female clients and their birth partners. I work with families to develop comfort measures throughout pregnancy, relaxation techniques, birth partner support, and a comprehensive birth and postpartum plan. To be as flexible and accommodating as possible, I offer telehealth visits, in-person visits, and phone calls. My own journey to becoming a mom is quite unique. After years of infertility, several rounds of IUI, and even IVF, I finally had my miracle baby. I know firsthand how valuable a doula is in a mother's life, supporting her entire journey while also providing support to precious birth partners. I am passionate about helping provide access to mothers who need it most, offering comfort and care during their pregnancy journey while helping reduce disparities in maternal health. On a personal note, in addition to my doula work, I have an extensive background as a facilitator with a wide range of communities, uplifting women and youth while creating film and photography. I also have an extensive background in Higher Education. I am spiritual, and this grounds how I show up for every family I serve, listening closely to their needs, providing emotional support and comfort, and advocating for them every step of the way. Hello! I’m a certified full spectrum doula dedicated to providing compassionate and judgment-free support to families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. I value community, connection, and honoring each family’s unique journey. As a doula, I practice through a trauma-informed lens. This means I prioritize your psychological safety, bodily autonomy, and emotional well-being across all reproductive journeys. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and fully in control of your choices, while actively working to minimize stress and prevent retraumatization in medical or personal spaces. My goal is to create a safe and empowering space where parents feel supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way. My background is in elementary education and I owned and facilitated a licensed child care home for many years prior to teaching. I enjoy watching families grow and thrive. In my spare time, I love gardening, traveling the world, and learning about other cultures.

Recent review

I first met Tamra while she was volunteering to teach Native American children how to make regalia. My children loved her and she was incredibly patient and kind, with a passion for education. Imagine my delight when I found out she had become a doula right after I found out I was pregnant with my third child. She knew I didn’t have a large budget and she worked with me and supported me every step of the way, from prenatal visits, birth, lactation support, then when I was feeling defeated, she stepped in to help with newborn support. Within two weeks, my new daughter was sleeping on a schedule and I was finally able to catch up on sleep. I truly don’t know how I could have done it without her. She also used her own Native American heritage to make me feel comfortable, including smudging my space, cooking indigenous meals, and blessing my home and family.

I am a full-spectrum doula trained by Doula Trainings International (DTI) and hold a Bachelor's degree from San Jose State University. After experiencing the challenges new parents face firsthand with the arrival of my own two children, I dedicated myself to improving support for families during this transformative time. I firmly believe in the power of community, as captured by the phrase “it takes a village.” I am committed to being that supportive presence for your family, guiding you through every aspect of the birth, labor, and postpartum experience.

Recent review

Sarah was an unwavering source of support during one of the most physically and emotionally challenging experiences of my life. After choosing to have an at-home abortion, I found myself in the hospital due to unmanageable pain and later faced complications and prolonged bleeding for over two months. Through it all, Sarah was there—offering not just physical comfort, but deep emotional and mental support. She provided reassurance when I felt scared, advocated for me when I felt unheard, and helped me navigate the overwhelming aftermath with patience and compassion. Her presence was a lifeline, creating a safe space where I could process my emotions without judgment. Whether it was through gentle encouragement, grounding techniques, or simply holding space for my emotions, Sarah made sure I never felt alone in my healing process. I am beyond grateful for her kindness, knowledge, and unwavering care during such a difficult time.

Asia's hope is to empower, inspire, and support women to achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

Recent review

I have worked closely with Asia for many years and in some very high-intensity, high-performing situations. While I may not have hired her as my doula on account of not being pregnant (because I'm a male) I can definitely recommend her on a professional level. Asia is a very positive and confident person, an intuitive listener, and a selfless caregiver. She is very knowledgeable and is able to deliver quality care and anticipate your needs. She is the type of person I refer my expecting patients to, and the right one for the job of helping you welcome your newest one into the world. I recommend Asia without any reservation or hesitation to anyone in the greater Austin area looking for a competent and confidence-instilling doula!

My family has been lucky enough to partner with AnneLisa during our postpartum journey. She is self proclaimed holistic and that term is just right. At night time, AnneLisa comes to your house and spends time checking in with the Mom and finding out any information about baby. She writes notes about her night with baby and shares with both parents. She ends her service by making a very large breakfast (her oatmeal lasted me at least 3 servings each time). During the daytime, she checks in on Mom again, and that can come as talking, French hair braiding or massage. She can also teach you newborn skills like how to take baby out for a walk, or how to bathe baby. On top of all this, AnneLisa partners with a wonderful woman in the insurance industry who can help you check to see what is covered and even help try and get reimbursements. If you’re looking for a doula, while I can only attest to her postpartum skills, I’m sure she’s amazing as a birth doula as well. I highly recommend working with AnneLisa.
