I believe all parents deserve judgement-free, evidence-based support during their labor, birth and postpartum. My journey to fully birth obsessed began during my first pregnancy. I needed to know all the things and hear all the stories. I quickly learned that many birthing people, especially those in marginalized communities, do not receive the care they deserve during their journey to and through parenthood. This is when I discovered doulas and the support they provide. So I hired my doula, had two supported and empowering in-hospital birth experiences and went on my way as a mom of two, working a typical 9-5 in corporate marketing— never quite shaking a new found desire to make a difference in the birth community. Fast forward a few years, endless heart-to-hearts with my family and friends about making a change and I finally enrolled in a doula training. I truly believe this is what I’m meant to do and I’m so glad to have found my way here. My goal as a birth and postpartum doula is to empower birthing people and their partners through judgment-free and evidence-based support. When I’m not doula-ing, I’m usually spending time with my husband, our two daughters and two elder pups. Before parenthood and a pandemic hit, you could find us skiing, hiking, trying new restaurants, taking on a house project we probably should have left to professionals or binging our favorite shows. Now, you’re more likely to find us at a local park, swimming pool or in our backyard. A meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee or glass of wine is the way to my heart. I’m a wife, mother of three, and proud grandmother of two. I work as a Community Education Coordinator and also volunteer as an EMT with the Remer, MN ambulance service. I've always had a love for pregnancy and birth. Becoming a Doula has been a long-time dream of mine, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently completed my Doula training. I'm passionate about supporting women through labor and delivery. My goal is to make a positive difference in each birth experience by offering calmness, compassion, care, and words of encouragement. I believe every birthing person deserves to feel supported, empowered, and heard—and I’m honored to be part of that journey. I live in Lakeville and am serving around the Twin Cities area. My interest in being a doula started when I realized I was really fascinated with birth after having my daughter. I also love supporting those around me and supporting expecting moms seemed to be the best way to support those in my community. My personal experience with pregnancy and birth were both challenging and empowering. To hear that story you would hear about personal transformation, courage, fear, and an immense amount of joy. My name is Marika Brown, and I am a Jesus-loving Christian mom of 7 living children and 4 babies in Heaven. I am a DONA-trained birth doula. My background includes a B.A. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Evangel University. I have been homeschooling my children for 13 years and recently graduated my oldest child, while my baby is approaching his second birthday. My journey to become a doula had been years in the making, starting with the birth of my own first child and instantly wanting to learn as much as I could about pregnancy and birth. I have always loved listening to other moms' stories about their births and babies. With my own back-to-back pregnancies and newborns, the time had not been right to pursue professional training to be a doula, but I knew it was something I wanted to do "someday." As a loss mama and high-risk patient myself, I have a special interest in supporting moms during a pregnancy after loss, or pregnancy complications. I completed DONA birth doula training in June 2025. I love to support moms with any type of birth-epidural, natural, high-risk, C-section, induction, spontaneous, VBAC. I am a South Minneapolis-based birth doula and massage therapist. I have been a bodyworker for eight years, and co-own Total Solace Massage in Uptown, Minneapolis. I have attended trainings by DONA (2018) and Community Aware Birthworker (2024). My approach to birth is open-minded. I grew up on a rural Minnesota farm and have been working in maternal-child health since 2006, with experience spanning labor and delivery, community birth, lactation consulting, postpartum care, nursing education, pregnancy resource center work, and breastfeeding support group leadership. I earned my Master's of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from Bethel University in 2024.
