Kaila Mikenzie Fredrick

3 years of experience

Hi, I’m Kaila — birth mentor, labor doula, and host of A Mother Is Born. I believe birth should feel like a big deal — in the best possible way. My own experience giving birth was transformational. I felt honored, trusted, and supported throughout. It was beautiful and powerful… and also incredibly rare. Most women I know didn’t feel that way about their births — and that’s what pulled me into this work. I support women who want something more from their birth experience — whether they’re preparing for the first time or recovering from a difficult past one. I offer in-person doula support in Utah County, and virtual birth mentorship to families anywhere. I’m especially drawn to: Parents who see birth as a major life event — and want to plan it with care, not just "go with the flow" Parents who had a birth that left them feeling disappointed or traumatized — and who want a different story this time My approach is rooted in values: self-trust, autonomy, and honoring the body’s wisdom. I don’t believe in rigid checklists or cookie-cutter plans. I focus on helping you figure out what matters most to you, and then build a plan that supports that. I’ll teach you to advocate for yourself — and I’ll step in to back you up when needed. You won’t be alone. My favorite part of this work? The women. The honest conversations. The deep relationships. Watching someone grow into motherhood with intention and power is the biggest honor of my life. A few personal things: I’m a very type-B personality. The bad? My car is always a mess. The good? I am flexible, intuitive, and empathetic. In my personal time, I love learning the names of all the local plants. It's probably an even nerdier hobby than learning about birth! I have a deep weakness for dark chocolate, and never go to bed without second dinner. I truly believe that birth can be one of the most powerful and positive experiences of your life — when you have the right support. I'm excited to meet you!

I can’t find the words to say how grateful I am to Kaila. She helped my husband and I achieve the birth experience we so hoped for and for that we will always be grateful. We would wholeheartedly recommend Kaila to any friend or family member or anyone looking for an organized, loving, kind, knowledgeable doula in Utah county :)

Kaytalyn Winston

4 years of experience

Hello! I'm Kaytalyn Winston, Certified Birth, and Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Support Educator, Childbirth Educator, and Newborn Sleep Consultant. My passion for birth began through my own motherhood journey. I am the mother of two beautiful children, my daughter was  born at a birth center and my son was born at home. Experiencing the power, beauty, and transformation of physiological birth firsthand deeply shaped my view of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. My experience of being fully held and supported by a doula myself ignited a love and drive for supporting women as they navigate their own journeys into motherhood. In addition to my personal birth experiences, I have also had the unique honor and privilege of serving as a surrogate for a close friend. Walking through pregnancy and birth from both the perspective of a mother and a gestational carrier has given me a profound appreciation for the many different paths families take to welcome a child. I believe that every mother deserves to feel seen, supported, informed, and honored throughout each stage of motherhood. Birth is not simply about bringing a baby into the world, it is a transformational rite of passage for a woman and her family. My role is to provide compassionate guidance, evidence-based education, emotional support, and practical care so that families can make informed decisions and approach birth with confidence. My birth philosophy centers on trusting the innate wisdom of the mother and the physiological design of the body while ensuring families have the knowledge and support needed to navigate birth in the way that feels right for them. I strive to create a space where women feel empowered to use their voice, trust their intuition, release all fears and tension, and make decisions aligned with their values and goals. I support families across a variety of birth settings, including home births, birth centers, and hospitals. I have a special passion for supporting physiological birth, VBACs, water births, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and helping families establish healthy newborn feeding and sleep rhythms. Experience and Expertise: • Birth Doula Support (Epidural Support Certified, Spinning Babies, Hypnobirthing, Evidenced Based Birth)
 • Postpartum Doula Support
• Childbirth Education
 • Lactation and Feeding Support
• Newborn Care Education
• Newborn Sleep Solutions
 • Birth Planning, Preparation, and Pregnancy Support
 • VBAC Support
• Birth Story Documentation
• Intended Parent and Surrogacy Support
• Emotional Releasing, Processing and Birth Debriefing
 • Practical Household, Nutritional Meal Preparation and Recovery Support During Postpartum I hold a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and have completed professional birth and postpartum doula, and lactation training through MaternityWise International. My background in education allows me to teach and guide families in a way that is approachable, individualized, and empowering. It is my desire to walk alongside you, providing the support, encouragement, and education you need to feel confident throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and beyond. Motherhood is sacred work, and it is my honor to support and celebrate you every step of the way.

I believe women should have all the support they want and need at every birth. I truly feel I have been called to do birth work. I want to help women find their power so they can have the best chance at the birth they desire. I became a birth doula because I believe in the innate primal ability of women to do precisely what our bodies were designed to do, grow and birth babies. I became a doula because I want women to know they can in a world were we are constantly told we can’t. Our society has become obsessed with “problem solving” that we treat birth as if it is a problem to be “fixed” when in many cases, if left perfectly alone, women would have no problem at all. I completely understand necessary intervention for legitimate concerns or complications. There is certainly a time and place. However, my ultimate goal is to help women through birth with as little intervention as possible, with as much knowledge as possible and with full informed consent to any intervention presented. If you want to have natural, intervention free birth, will take the time to educate yourself & truly prepare for birth—you are giving yourself & your baby the best chance at experiencing the birth you were designed to have!

Emily was my doula for my planned home birth, which ended up being a transfer to the hospital. I cannot express how much her presence made my whole experience better. She was so helpful and calming throughout the entire process, especially when we had to transfer. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a doula. She’s the best!

Hi! We're Savanah and Sheryl, the Neighborhood Midwives. We've been working together in the birth world for the past four years and recently chose to focus exclusively on home birth. This shift allows us to slow down, be more present with the families we serve, and find a better balance in our own lives too. We believe true health starts from within. Our approach blends lifestyle support, movement, and herbal medicine—while also embracing modern medicine when it’s needed. If you're hoping for a calm, familiar, and intimate experience during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey, we’d love to connect and answer any questions you have.

I had Savanah and Sheryl as my midwives for my first birth - I approached my pregnancy and delivery in a holistic way and they were both so helpful, their bedside manner was truly exceptional and so thoughtful every appointment, and most of all - they were truly THERE for me during my delivery. It was a long labor and they brought me such a sense of peace every time they walked in the room. They both had a way of meeting me where I was at with every question and emotion that came up. I always felt respected and genuinely cared for with both of them - never as an inconvenience, they never made me feel small with my questions or lack of experience. They gave me great lactation support and resources for breastfeeding as well, which was HUGE for me. I can’t wait to work with them again in the future.

Hi! I’m Krysta. I'm a Christian Doula and Lifestyle & Birth Photographer serving Salt Lake & Surrounding Counties. No Woo Woo. No Nonsense. I simply believe in physiology and a woman's baseline, biological ability to grow, birth and nourish her baby, contrary to a growing system that has taken what is inherently feminine, diminished it, and replaced power, self trust, and raw beauty with self doubt/ fear, control and protocol. I trust the body first, while respecting informed medical care when it's necessary. Intervention should be intentional, not automatic. My philosophy is mother to mother support, having someone on your team who understands what this season asks of you, respects what you value most, and who will support you to birth in a way that feels aligned and empowered. I am confident in my ability to help you feel prepared, educated and FULLY CAPABLE walking into your birth. No rituals. No crystals. Just grounded presence and support. Your intuition about your body and baby holds power. Your Autonomy matters. Your voice should be the driving force of your experience. "Modern obstetrics often centers around control, not trust. Birth is treated as something to endure instead of something to lean into. The system doubts the body’s natural rhythms, replaces intuition with intervention, and calls it safety."

Hello, my name is Bizza and I am a birth and postpartum doula located in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am so passionate about birth and empowering birthing people with support and knowledge so they are fully equipped for whatever childbirth brings their way. My background is all things babies, from being a professional nanny to doula work, to being an Auntie to so many children. Knowledge is power and there are so many unknowns in childbirth. It is my joy and desire to equip birthing people with enough knowledge and support that when the unknowns come up, and they will, you are not blindsided. Rather, you are able to make educate, informed decisions. In my free time I enjoy reading, tending to my plants, baking, and gaming with my friends.

Recent review

Elizabeth was an incredible support during both my birth and postpartum experience with my third baby. During labor, she was constantly by my side—rubbing my back, helping me stay comfortable, and bringing such a calm, reassuring presence. After birth, she even made sure I had a clean, dry bra, which felt like such a small but deeply thoughtful act of care in that moment. Postpartum, Elizabeth was truly invaluable. I was healing from a sprained pelvis and could barely walk after birth, and she stepped in seamlessly to support our entire family. She took wonderful care of my two older children—getting them snacks, playing with them, and making sure they felt safe and loved. I always knew they were in great hands. She also made sure I was fed and hydrated, snuggled my newborn when I needed time to connect with my older kids, and supported me with so much kindness and attentiveness. Elizabeth went above and beyond, and I am so grateful for her care. I couldn’t recommend her more highly to any family looking for a compassionate, dependable birth and postpartum doula.

Hey Mama! I am so glad you are here! Congratulations on the start of your new, wonderful, beautiful journey that is Motherhood! A little about me: I am a certified birth doula, wife, and a mother to 3 amazing kiddos! Michael (6), Julia (4) and Damien (2). Becoming a mother, along with witnessing the birth of my niece was the reason I wanted to become a doula. There is so much I wish I would have known when i was pregnant with my first born and so I am passionate about informing moms of their choices and helping them navigate pregnancy and birth. Whether you want to go natural, are open to some interventions or have a planned c-section, my goal is to help you through this amazing journey. Reach out if you would like to learn more about me or want schedule a free consultation!

Being a third time mom I decided that this time around I'd benefit from having a coach since it would be my first time with an unmedicated birth. I was grateful for Carrie's professional advice and approachable attitude in our first meeting. She made sure I knew all expectations up front and supported my decisions. We share the same Catholic faith and I appreciated all of her prayers for me and the baby before and after birth but especially during! There were a lot of new terms that I was learning and she guided me through decisions when I needed more information about issues such as delayed cord clamping and different methods for pain management. We met twice before the day I gave birth. One time was meeting with my husband as well so he knew how they could partner together to help me. The next with a more hands on appraoch of pain management techniques. Her patience was truly admirable checking in with me daily starting around my due date and going through the next 2 weeks while baby boy had us waiting! She made sure that I knew about her back up doula and that vice versa her doula knew about my preferences in case something was to come up. The early morning my contractions started I gave her a heads up an hour after they were consistent. She planned to come to our home asap around 7am when I was already in active labor. From that point on, she was with me every single contraction with hip squeezes to relieve my all encompassing back labor! She provided a birthing comb for a distraction technique along with ice packs. I truly believe she was a key factor in how I was able to manage an unmedicated birth with a 9lb 14oz baby boy! I would hire her all over again to help with any future births.

Kimberly Onile

Hi! I'm Kim, your local midwife. The story of how I came to be here in Utah, serving women through pregnancy and birth is an interesting one. My education consists of a Bachelor of Art in Sociology with an Emphasis in Ethnic Studies, a Juris Doctorate with Emphasis in Criminal Law, and Certification as a Professional Midwife. My calling has always been to serve people in a humble, practical and pragmatic way. Creating positive change in people' s lives in the most efficient way possible. Over the years, this guiding principle has taken me on many adventures through different areas of life, different communities, and around the world. I grew up the child of two Air Force parents (Lawrence Hardeman and Cynthia Wright), traveling back and forth to Japan over my early years and around the US as I got older. During my settled years, I lived in Kansas City, Missouri. Unbeknownst to me, a distant ancestor of mine was one of the first to settle that area before Missouri was even a state. Peter Hardeman Burnett, a lawyer who defended Joseph Smith while detained in the Liberty Jail, adventurer who led 1000 pioneers on the Oregon Trail, and eventually became the first governor of California. During my college years I became a mother for the first time and with the help of a fantastic nurse midwife I endured 19 hours of pitocin induction with no epidural. I was so young and naive at the time I didn't understand the true blessing she was in my life. That revelation hit me during my second birth, where a midwife wasn't available. That was the hardest pregnancy, the most life threatening delivery, and the most depressing postpartum experience of them all. I waited five years before deciding I was ready for another and this time I studied, I scoured my city for resources, and I found another amazing midwife. That birth was magical. I created an experience with the support of my midwife, my husband, my mother and mother in law that healed every traumatized part of my soul. My fourth birth was even better because I had a home birth midwife that time who helped me feel empowered and confident beyond what I had achieved in my prior pregnancies. This is when I decided that a law degree is nice, but midwifery lights my FIRE! I started my training soon after my son's birth and haven't looked back since. Beginning a career as a midwife during the height of a worldwide pandemic, when hospitals prioritized control over freedom in birth, was truly a gauntlet. Women sought out of hospital birth for the first time, fueled by fear and anxiety. I learned to meet women where they were at and move them into a space of peace, calm, and confidence in their bodies and their babies. In that space, my midwife mind was developed. I served hundreds of families in Missouri and Kansas, some families as far as 3 hours from my home because no midwife would travel to them. I gladly chose to drive hours round trip for home visits and births, because on those long drives through the Kansas plains, I was able to lay down prayers with every mile. Asking God, "Where do you want me? How do I get there? When should I go?" Like my ancestor, Peter Hardeman Burnett, the answer was "Go West, to the mountains". Full of faith, I began winding down my Kansas City practice and made plans to move to Utah. I married my spouse under the aspen trees at the foot of the mountains in Rotary Glen Park in Park City, UT and began building a life here. Now, I find myself rooted in the same valley as you all, with open arms and an open heart, ready to serve the families that are sent my way.

Kim has provided nothing but the best care throughout my entire pregnancy and after for my little boy and I! I have felt honored and valued- nothing less! She is markedly professional, yet empathic and open with personal anecdotes when asked. While passionately supportive of your goals and values, she openly explains the full spectrum of each topic to empower your best decisions- ultimately respectful and supportive of your final decision. I love how Kim is so knowledgable about natural ways to address comfort/concerns and willing to try these before moving onto medical interventions. I was continually impressed by her ability to recommend several natural remedies to try when I mentioned anything under the sun! Not only that, but why they work and their benefits/risks. Her philosophy and passion about midwifery is evident. Im so grateful for her role in my natural childbirth and hope to have her again for a homebirth with our next child! Thank you ♡

Whitney San Diego

I’m Whitney, a mother, doula, and the big sister who shows up with steady hands, a soft voice, and deep belief in you. My work is gentle and intentional—holding space, offering guidance, and helping your birth vision unfold with clarity and confidence. I’m here to massage tired feet, melt tension with counter pressure, and bring comfort from my Mary Poppins bag of tools. I support you and your partner as you move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with intuition, trust, and the reminder that you don’t have to walk this path alone. Birth is sacred. Support should feel like sisterhood.

Recent review

Working with Whitney as our doula was one of the greatest decisions we made for our birth. She was absolutely incredible! From the very beginning, she jumped into action and had an amazing ability to read the room and know exactly what was needed all while maintaining a calm presence. One of our biggest hopes in hiring a doula was for my husband to feed confident and supported during labor, and Whitney exceeded every expectation. During our pre-labor visits, she walked us through our birth plan, answered all of our questions, and taught us strategies and techniques for pain management. Throughout the weeks leading up to birth, she stayed in close contact, checking in over text and offering reassurance whenever we needed it. When I was induced, Whitney was the first one at the hospital. My labor involved more interventions than I had hoped for, and she helped me understand each one, talk through my options, and know what questions to ask the midwives. Through every contraction, she was right there providing counter pressure and steady emotional support. Even though my birth took unexpected turns and didn’t follow my original plan, Whitney helped make it a magical, empowering and truly beautiful experience. I would recommend her to absolutely any and everyone. Whitney is a gift, and we are so grateful she was a part of our story.

MADISON GORDON

Passion for helping others has been ingrained in me for as long as I can recall. Creating a secure space where individuals can embrace vulnerability and find unwavering support is a facet of my character that brings me immense pride. No one should feel alone; it has always been my inclination to extend beyond expectations, offering a comforting presence to loved ones and patients navigating moments of solitude and unease during transitions in hospitals. To me, being your Doula is not just providing you counter pressure and support. It’s about creating that positive birth space for you, where you can completely surrender and lay trust into your surroundings! Where you can be fully present with yourself and your baby as they transition from being a part of you on the inside and into one of their own in your arms on the outside. This is your story that I, as your doula, am honored to be a part of. You are in control of your birth space and who is in it! For each of my birth clients, I craft personally written affirmation cards and offer assistance in materializing your dream birth space. Post-birth, as the fourth trimester unfolds, I step into a role of unique support. This chapter, where families acquaint themselves with quirks and routines, is as distinctive as each individual. As a postpartum doula, I provide physical and mental support—whether it’s lactation guidance, rest, household chores, meal prepping, or engaging in profound conversations about life. In moments of exhaustion and when things seem askew, always remember: You are enough! Beyond my doula work, I engage with clients through informative calls, providing education on a spectrum of topics ranging from childbirth and parenting to Montessori principles. When I’m not immersed in these enlightening conversations, my off-hours are a dynamic blend of creativity and rejuvenation. To stay grounded and invigorated, I venture outdoors, whether it’s through the exhilarating experience of cold plunging or the serenity of a hike in nature.

Madison was crucial in my positive postpartum experience. As our postpartum doula, she helped me, a first time mom, navigate the new realm of caring for my exhausted body while learning about and caring for my newborn. I couldn’t imagine anyone else in my little bubble with me. She had so much expertise and really had a way with my baby. She encouraged confidence in me and allowed for much needed rest whenever I needed it. I can’t recommend her enough. I’d hire her over and over again.
