Hi, I’m Kaila — birth mentor, labor doula, and host of A Mother Is Born. I believe birth should feel like a big deal — in the best possible way. My own experience giving birth was transformational. I felt honored, trusted, and supported throughout. It was beautiful and powerful… and also incredibly rare. Most women I know didn’t feel that way about their births — and that’s what pulled me into this work. I support women who want something more from their birth experience — whether they’re preparing for the first time or recovering from a difficult past one. I offer in-person doula support in Utah County, and virtual birth mentorship to families anywhere. I’m especially drawn to: Parents who see birth as a major life event — and want to plan it with care, not just "go with the flow" Parents who had a birth that left them feeling disappointed or traumatized — and who want a different story this time My approach is rooted in values: self-trust, autonomy, and honoring the body’s wisdom. I don’t believe in rigid checklists or cookie-cutter plans. I focus on helping you figure out what matters most to you, and then build a plan that supports that. I’ll teach you to advocate for yourself — and I’ll step in to back you up when needed. You won’t be alone. My favorite part of this work? The women. The honest conversations. The deep relationships. Watching someone grow into motherhood with intention and power is the biggest honor of my life. A few personal things: I’m a very type-B personality. The bad? My car is always a mess. The good? I am flexible, intuitive, and empathetic. In my personal time, I love learning the names of all the local plants. It's probably an even nerdier hobby than learning about birth! I have a deep weakness for dark chocolate, and never go to bed without second dinner. I truly believe that birth can be one of the most powerful and positive experiences of your life — when you have the right support. I'm excited to meet you!

Lauren provided incredible support as my doula as a first time mom who just gave birth. I wasn’t familiar with what doulas do exactly but she explained her services and purpose very well! Her support was incredible through out my pregnancy and birth experience. I appreciate the space of calm, positivity, strength, and acceptance she created for me to pull through this whole thing. She was very kind and patient. Answered all of my questions thoroughly and was patient even when I'd ask the same question over and over again. She worked with me and my fears and made the experience not as scary as I was thinking it would be. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting an at home birth. I'm gonna use her again if I get pregnant again. She even was able to draw my blood sample with minimal pain, unlike the doctor's office that drew my first samples. She made me feel safe and in control of how I wanted to have my birthing experience be. It was thoroughly wonderful and an enjoyable experience.

Being involved in birth work has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember! I graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Social work where I found joy in listening, and empowering people. Soon after graduating I gave birth to my first daughter and it reignited my passion for birth and desire to want all mamas to have a positive experience during childbirth. I completed my doula training with songbird maternity learning skills to support mothers such as breathing exercises, optimal positions for labor and pushing, massage and more. Charlee has been so incredible to work with!! She has the kindest and most calming presence. My water broke a month early with my first, late at night and my husband and I were in shock. Charlee came to the hospital so quickly and jumped right in to help me and help my husband know how to help me. She was so attentive to all of our questions during pregnancy, labor and postpartum. She was so aware of us. She’s been so sweet to check in on us and our baby many times. She brought us the yummiest food, chatted and offered help postpartum. She’s become such a sweet friend to us, we are forever grateful!

I believe women should have all the support they want and need at every birth. I truly feel I have been called to do birth work. I want to help women find their power so they can have the best chance at the birth they desire. I became a birth doula because I believe in the innate primal ability of women to do precisely what our bodies were designed to do, grow and birth babies. I became a doula because I want women to know they can in a world were we are constantly told we can’t. Our society has become obsessed with “problem solving” that we treat birth as if it is a problem to be “fixed” when in many cases, if left perfectly alone, women would have no problem at all. I completely understand necessary intervention for legitimate concerns or complications. There is certainly a time and place. However, my ultimate goal is to help women through birth with as little intervention as possible, with as much knowledge as possible and with full informed consent to any intervention presented. If you want to have natural, intervention free birth, will take the time to educate yourself & truly prepare for birth—you are giving yourself & your baby the best chance at experiencing the birth you were designed to have!

Emily was my doula for my planned home birth, which ended up being a transfer to the hospital. I cannot express how much her presence made my whole experience better. She was so helpful and calming throughout the entire process, especially when we had to transfer. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a doula. She’s the best!

I had Savanah and Sheryl as my midwives for my first birth - I approached my pregnancy and delivery in a holistic way and they were both so helpful, their bedside manner was truly exceptional and so thoughtful every appointment, and most of all - they were truly THERE for me during my delivery. It was a long labor and they brought me such a sense of peace every time they walked in the room. They both had a way of meeting me where I was at with every question and emotion that came up. I always felt respected and genuinely cared for with both of them - never as an inconvenience, they never made me feel small with my questions or lack of experience. They gave me great lactation support and resources for breastfeeding as well, which was HUGE for me. I can’t wait to work with them again in the future.

This will probably be my most favorite review that I’ll ever write. Where do I even begin? It was rather serendipitous how Khristen and I met; She had contacted me to groom her dog Moki, and we automatically clicked. Right away when you meet Khristen you’re just like “YES!” Her spirit is infectious and you sense a genuine soul right away. When she told me how passionate she was about her field I felt it was meant to be since I had been praying for a Dula! For my husband and I, choosing Khristen as our Dula was the single best choice we could have made for our family. Almost a year later and I am still stumbling over her kindness, hand written cards and diaper rash creams galore! She is just the best. She was passionate about her vocation right away and her consistency throughout was just so refreshing especially considering her role was and is so vital. Being a first time mom I didn’t know what to expect when trying to deliver but I was automatically put at ease with how much knowledge Khristen had acquired and her endless experiences with being a mother herself in general gave us so much peace. When our desired plans changed and we found ourselves looking at a C-Section still Khristen was still on top of her game. Giving us pamphlets on anything we could think of and constantly going above and beyond to help with additional concerns and questions had throughout the remainder of the pregnancy Khristen never stopped diligently answering and seeking resolution. Not only was Khirsten so wonderful during pregnancy but she was also just as attentive and crucial postpartum. She helped us endlessly with laundry and cleaning, to food and delivery, she really just served as such a foundational piece to complete our what should have been stressful newborn journey and facilitated it like the super hero pregnancy personal assistant of our dreams. We really can’t stress enough how grateful we are to have had Khristen as a coach and support system during such an important time in our lives. She’s just one of a kind, beautiful hearted, genuine and irreplaceable. Thank you so much for everything, Khristen! We love you so much! 🩷🩷🩷

Elizabeth was an incredible support during both my birth and postpartum experience with my third baby. During labor, she was constantly by my side—rubbing my back, helping me stay comfortable, and bringing such a calm, reassuring presence. After birth, she even made sure I had a clean, dry bra, which felt like such a small but deeply thoughtful act of care in that moment. Postpartum, Elizabeth was truly invaluable. I was healing from a sprained pelvis and could barely walk after birth, and she stepped in seamlessly to support our entire family. She took wonderful care of my two older children—getting them snacks, playing with them, and making sure they felt safe and loved. I always knew they were in great hands. She also made sure I was fed and hydrated, snuggled my newborn when I needed time to connect with my older kids, and supported me with so much kindness and attentiveness. Elizabeth went above and beyond, and I am so grateful for her care. I couldn’t recommend her more highly to any family looking for a compassionate, dependable birth and postpartum doula.

She stayed with us after delivery to make sure I was doing okay and even met with us postpartum to check in and make sure we were transitioning home okay. Kylee was the most amazing doula I have ever had! I would pay her prices any day to have her! She was always so quick to answer any questions I had. The day of the labor she showed up so quick I couldn’t believe it! If I didn’t have her support during the labor I don’t know what I would have done. She helped me with counter pressure and tens unit that was a total game changer! I dilated all the way to a 7 with her help before I got the epidural! Her class was also the best! I’m so glad my husband and I could go together and feel so prepared for our labor. She was the best support and I felt instantly connected to her on our first intro call through zoom! Even though I didn’t know her that well I felt so comfortable around her! I would highly recommend Kylee and I tell all my pregnant friends about her and her class! Hypnobabies also really helped me have a great mind set for my labor!
