From the very first time I spoke on the phone to arrange a meeting with Shelia Dilling, I felt instantly comfortable with her. As a first-time mom, I was nervous but determined to have an unmedicated birth, and Shelia gave me the confidence, knowledge, and calm I needed to make that happen. From her attentiveness and help with planning—providing birth plan templates and guiding my husband and I through both a Plan A and Plan B—to the moment labor began, her knowledge and reassurance gave me the strength to move forward with confidence that I could have a positive birth. When labor started, Shelia was there right away. She walked laps with me, helped relieve contractions with hip squeezes, and gently guided me through different positions to help my body progress. She came completely prepared with everything—from a labor comb and soothing music to thoughtful reminders that helped me stay grounded and focused through every wave. One of the things I appreciated most was how she advocated for me when I needed something—like getting the birth pool filled—and how she intuitively knew when to suggest trying it to help ease my transition. She was my voice when I was too tired to speak and my calm when I felt like I couldn’t go any further. She ensured I had everything I needed without even having to ask. Shelia never left my side. She comforted me when I was exhausted and even helped hold my leg during pushing. Her presence was steady, kind, and full of compassion. With my full permission, she even got the most amazing photos during my labor and with the birth of our baby that I will have to remember it forever. After our baby was born, she checked in on us for a postpartum appointment, making sure I was recovering well and reminding me that she was always available if I had questions as a new mom. I can honestly say I couldn’t have done it without her. She made me feel safe, cared for, and strong through one of the most powerful experiences of my life. I will forever be grateful that Shelia Dilling was part of our birth story.

Where do I begin…… If there’s one thing The Most High will do is cover HIS daughters I must say I couldn’t have asked for a better doula. I didn’t expect I was going to actually obtain a doula so last minute (8 months) within my pregnancy but also one that understood my birth plan. Ruth made it her business to support me in my boundaries set for medical care when possible changes had arised within the delivery. She is beyond helpful and knowledgeable in this field of care and made me feel comfortable and confident to bring in my first born son with her unconditional support. Never would I have imagined her to be able to be there for the 36 hrs of delivery but she was intentionally in ensuring my bonus daughter was tended to throughout those hours and I was cared for properly following within delivery and following his birth. Although the staff within hospital were very unbecoming with Ruth and the support of my family I couldn’t have asked for a better birth experience and it’s genuinely was because of her attentiveness to my care and the care of my son without any hesitation to tell staff what I needed when I needed it. I pray for every birth of my children in future in able to have her there to support me. Much love and respect for her purpose in this difficult field of care. I would recommend her 1000% over and over again. Ruth is a phenomenal woman and I’m so beyond thankful I was able share my birth experience with her ♥️

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this doula and the services she provides. She was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. Her attention to detail and the genuine care she has for her clients truly set her apart. She took her time to answer every question, was consistently present, and supported me every step of the way. She is incredibly flexible with timing and rescheduling, which made the entire process feel stress-free. It’s clear that she truly cares about her clients and always follows through on everything she promises. In the birthing room, she was an exceptional advocate for me. She also went above and beyond postpartum, following up and even taking time out of her own schedule to create thoughtful, personal trinkets for postpartum care. Those gestures meant so much and showed just how deeply invested she is in her clients’ well-being. Overall, she is an outstanding doula. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who feels like a true safe space—like another sibling, another parent—someone who naturally fits into any environment and supports you wholeheartedly. She is truly exceptional.

I was not able to see Katherine as we are too far away from each other; however, that did not stop her from being so kind and thoughtful as to still provide me with a list of resources as I continue to look for my doula. If we were closer, I would 1000% hire her. Sizzly was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and with a lot of experience which made me feel she is very trustworthy and that my home birth was in great hands. Holly was an amazing doula and general prenatal/postnatal resource. I moved across the country to NSB 20 weeks pregnant, so Holly was my main source of support in the area. She was so kind and helped me through some early labor scares and difficulties with grace and patience. She knew the hospital system and seemed to have everything I needed during the birth process. It was my second birth and my first experience in another state was extremely stressful so this birth was very redeeming for me. Being a 3rd time mom and not previously using any support other than my obgyn and others in the medical field for my pregnancies i thought i had it all down packed as far as my plan through out pregnancy & labor. Until i ran into Jori with Madre Doula and she helped me understand that there’s so much more options out there than what your doctors offer you. That you’re not obligated to schedule an induction or a C-section at 40 weeks. That our bodies know exactly what it is doing. She helped me become better informed about all my options. She helped me come up with my entire birth plan According to what made ME feel comfortable despite what the doctors recommended or wanted to force upon me. She showed up during the active labor part of labor to make sure my birth plan was being stuck to and she made sure that i was feeling comfortable, and being supported. We forget how much pain & in a daze you can be and your mind can be in when it’s all happening. This is why you honestly need someone To be able to be there to advocate for you and your choices. I loved having her as my peace of mind. With her as my doula It didn’t end at labor, She also made sure to check up on me post partum and see how everything was going. I still had so many new questions that came up for me although having experience child birth before and she was able to provide me with support & comfort. Again I’d recommend her over and over again. For experienced moms and first time moms!

My husband and I decided to hire a doula a little bit reluctantly, not really knowing what we needed or how beneficial it would be. When I met Vonda, I immediately got this sense that she was caring and compassionate but yet also very competent and confident in her work as a Doula. This gave me so much comfort, and regardless of whether our goal was to deliver at home, a birth center, or hospital, she was willing to support us and our choices and not try to impose opinions on us unless we asked for them (which was huge since opinions can run very strong and extreme on opposite spectrums in the birth world). What I loved most about the idea of hiring her, beyond being able to trust her and know she was for us, was that she would be the consistency in my care from prenatal to delivery to postpartum. This birth was going to be with my second child but I was hoping to have a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) birth, so everything about labor and birth would be a new experience for me. She met with us twice during my 3rd trimester. Those meetings were incredibly informative and brought us so much peace leading up to what was foreign territory to us. She talked with us about our birth plan and let us know what our options were, taught my husband and I physical comfort techniques that could be helpful during labor, and also educated us on the birth process and what would happen to my body and with the baby during the process. Having the ability to contact her anytime after we hired her to get her input and feedback was so helpful. My husband wanted to be as involved and helpful to me as he could but he also didn't know what to expect and I didn't know what I would need, He really appreciated everything Vonda taught us beforehand, but then also having her with us during the birth to help him help me and to be our voice at the hospital since she knew our wishes and could speak for us while my mind was focused on having a baby and my husband was focused on me. Aspects of everything she prepared us for came into play when labor started, and I can't imagine going through labor and birth without having been as prepared as I felt, even when I still didn't know what to expect. Hiring Vonda as our Doula was worth every penny! I would highly recommend her to any mama AND her support person. She was there for me AND my husband, and if we did it again, we'd definitely have Vonda with us!
