Emelia Uwadia

Hi, I’m Emelia. It’s nice to meet you. I’m a birth professional based in Oshawa, ON, with a passion for supporting the whole person and their family through every part of the perinatal journey: emotionally, physically, and mentally. I’m currently certifying as a birth and postpartum doula with DONA International, a fertility doula through Doula School Canada, and a childbirth educator with CAPPA. This allows me to walk with clients through each chapter of their experience in a deeply personal and connected way. My work is grounded in the belief that this season of life deserves care that sees and supports the whole of who you are. Whether you’re preparing for birth, exploring fertility, or finding your rhythm in postpartum, I’m here to offer presence, warmth, and evidence-based support that meets you where you are. I know this time can feel like wandering into a forest without a map, full of beauty but also uncertainty. My hope is that when we work together, you feel safe to pause, to breathe, and to know you’re not alone. I’m here to hold space, to really listen, and to offer tools and guidance to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to feel supported. I see you, and I’m honored to walk alongside you like a steady companion on the path, here to remind you of your own strength and inner wisdom. Welcome to the Fabled Family. I’m so glad you’re here.

As a mother of three, I understand firsthand the beauty and challenges that come with the postpartum journey. My work as a postpartum and birth doula is rooted in deep empathy and genuine care, qualities that have only been strengthened through my experience raising a special needs child. I bring calm, nonjudgmental support to families as they adjust to life with a newborn, offering both practical help and emotional reassurance. Over the past several years, I have supported families through both hospital and home births, navigating many different birth experiences and outcomes. Victoria was my Doula for both my first and second babies, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She not only provided real, evidence-based birth education, but she also made me feel completely comfortable and confident throughout my pregnancy and labour. Victoria was by my side every step of the way, offering calm reassurance, kindness, and incredible knowledge. Her support made such a difference, and her service was worth every penny. I’m so grateful for her care and highly recommend her to any expecting parent!

Hi - I’m Daphney. I’m a fertility, birth, and postpartum doula. My doula journey unknowingly began as an infant and toddler nanny — a role that took me away to New Zealand, Australia, and Switzerland. Along the way, I discovered how much I love being part of families’ stories, and now I’m bringing that same heart into my doula work. Supporting moms, babies, and whole families lights me up, and I’ve dedicated my career to this calling. My dream is to offer the kind of nurturing care I imagine receiving myself one day as a mother. I offer birth, postpartum and fertility support in the Barrie, Simcoe County, York Region, & Vaughan/Toronto area! With love,

Nijah Smith

Nijah is an artist and postpartum doula that was drawn to the world of birthwork due to her natural ability to nurture and connect with young children and their caregivers. She has a deep, personal understanding of the challenges that come with raising a child in limited-support environments. Nijah works to offer evidence-backed, holistic, and culturally rooted healing knowledge to enrich the postpartum experience and empower caregivers to thrive through their new chapter of life.

Nijah Smith was a great doula during my postpartum experience. What stood out the most was how naturally connected she was with my baby girl. She instantly analyzed what she needed, and responded with such calm confidence. Nijah assisted greatly with household tasks, helping me latch, and helping her settle. Because she was so attentive, observant, and proactive with the baby, I actually got to rest—and real rest. I felt safe enough to sleep because I knew my daughter was in good hands. I’m deeply grateful for her, and I would recommend her to any parent who wants someone alert ,gentle, and proactive to support their family.

We are the co-owners of Thornhill Doulas. Pregnancy, childbirth and the first few weeks of parenthood is an amazing time in our lives. It should be about the birthing parent, partner (if there is one), baby or babies and what they want for this special time. However, in our fast paced and hectic lifestyles, it can often feel completely overwhelming, especially as more people are living further away from traditional family support. Having doula support will smooth your transition to parenthood- a Magical yet challenging time! We are ready to support all your childbirth and parenting needs, including lactation and sleep.

I don’t even know where to begin in describing how grateful I am for Petra and the incredible support she gave me, my husband, and our son born in April 2024. She was, in every sense of the word, the doula of our dreams. We call her our 'fairy godmother.' We were first-time parents who truly didn’t know what we were doing. Petra walked into our home with a calm, reassuring presence that immediately made us feel safe and supported. Petra never made us feel judged or inadequate — instead, she showed us step by step how to care for our newborn, starting with the first step into our house from the hospital, and my question of, "umm, so where do I put him?". From there, she patiently taught us all the practical skills (feeding, burping, bathing, diapering, soothing, etc.), as we had no idea what we were doing. All the books I read while pregnant did not prepare me for the real thing. Petra prepared us for the real thing. More than the “how-to,” Petra gave us peace of mind. She answered every question with kindness and expertise. She normalized our fears, reassured us when we second-guessed ourselves, and reminded us that we were doing a good job. She also cared for us as parents. She encouraged us to rest, to eat, and to breathe. Her presence lifted so much of the anxiety from those early days and gave us space to bond with our baby rather than drown in uncertainty. Petra was everything we hoped for in a doula: knowledgeable, nurturing, reliable, compassionate, and endlessly patient. She went above and beyond. I can say without exaggeration that she helped us survive and truly enjoy those first weeks as a new family. Suyin also contributed to the post-partum support of our family as my lactation consultant. You really just don't know how difficult breast feeding is until you try it! Suyin helped me with latch, positioning, and confidence. Her visits at our home were comfortable and stress-free, and she helped turned breast-feeding into something I could actually enjoy. I can’t recommend her enough!

Hello and welcome! My name is Mandy and I am a certified Postpartum Doula dedicated to helping families find their footing during life with a newborn. My path to this work wasn’t just professional—it was personal. As a mother of four and a wife, I’ve walked the postpartum journey multiple times myself. I know exactly how beautiful, exhausting, and overwhelming those first few weeks can be. My own experiences taught me that families don’t just need advice; they need rest, nourishment, and a calm, non-judgmental presence to lean on. That is exactly what I strive to provide. Having lived in Germany and coming from a multicultural background, I bring an open heart and deep respect for different traditions and parenting styles. I understand that there is no "one right way" to parent—only the way that works best for your family. Whether you need support with newborn care, help getting a few hours of sleep, or just an extra set of hands to keep the household running, I’m here to make your transition smoother. I want you to feel cared for so you can focus on bonding with your baby. Let’s make your postpartum experience a time of healing and connection. I would be honored to support you.

I am passionate about providing comprehensive support to families during the postpartum period. Whether it's boosting confidence in breastfeeding, ensuring you enjoy a two-handed lunch (because let's face it, handling a sandwich with one hand can be tricky!), or facilitating much-needed nap time after sleepless nights, postpartum doula support plays a crucial role in the holistic growth of the entire family.

Being a new parent is hard, but no one tells you that despite the new bundle of joy, life has to go on. Kana was instrumental in making sure that my wife and I were able to ease our way into being new parents. Kana's practical assistance around the home and with newborn children is highly recommended. Her skill as a post-partum doula is a result of her pro-active attitude and consistent implementation of empathy, understanding and kindness into her practice. I cannot recommend her enough, and if you are a new parent, I strongly encourage you to engage her services. Thanks again Kana!
