While living in Charlotte, NC we got pregnant with our son & I was immediately in love with learning everything that I could about pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding. The more I learned the more I became overwhelmed and amazed at the work of the woman’s body in this intense time period. I got a doula who helped me understand so much about the birth process and I could never have been thankful enough for the role she played in allowing me to have a birth I can look back on with fondness. Throughout this process she helped me realize this is something I could do myself for others! I then connected the dots between my previous interest in counseling and newfound love for pregnancy and birth and realized that being a doula would suit all my loves: helping people through HUGE life events & birth. I am passionate about women feeling equipped and empowered to have the birth that they desire- medicated, unmedicated, planned, spontaneous, etc. As a Birth Doula I plan to help guide you through the pregnancy with education, support, and preparation for birth and postpartum. I will assist and encourage you through labor in the way that we decide would best fit you and help as you adjust to life with a new baby. My goal as a doula is for you to leave your birth empowered and encouraged.

I am a mother to 3 children. I have 12 years of educated experience with children of all ages. I am also a birth and Newborn photographer. Caring for children has always been an important part of my life.

Hello there! My name is Rachel Sultzer and I am a Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Breastfeeding Educator and Certied Postpartum and Infant Care Doula located in Jacksonville, Florida. My passion for child and family care stems from my start as a childcare provider over twenty (20) years ago. Most recently my role as full time nanny quickly reaffirmed my strength in not only caring for infants and small children, but providing comprehensive family support - especially to new and nursing mothers. After serving as a volunteer “Infant Cuddler” for at-risk infants at the UF Shands neonatal intensive care unit, my dedication to helping children was deepened even more. After watching one of my mamas struggle with breastfeeding and experience first hand the the lack of support and education from the community of people surrounding her, I knew I wanted to do more to help; I had to do more. In July 2017 I received my Lactation Counselor Certification from Healthy Children Project Inc., Center for Breastfeeding. Under the guidance and mentor-ship of Kelly Googe, with Womb to World Doula Services, I have been able to work with lots of mamas in the Jacksonville area. As a Certified Lactation Counselor and Certified Breastfeeding Educator my mission is to educate the public on the importance of breastfeeding; to encourage and empower women to make decisions that work for them and to provide guidance and support during a such a delicate but amazing time in a mama’s life.
