Raven Carter Background checked · Oct 2026

Hi! I’m Raven, a career nanny with over 10 years of professional childcare experience. I’m also a birth and postpartum doula, night nanny, and currently working toward becoming a certified Newborn Care Specialist. Supporting children and families has truly become the heart of my career, and I’ve had the privilege of caring for children through many different ages, stages, and family transitions. My approach to childcare is centered around connection, respect, and meeting each child where they are developmentally and emotionally. I believe children deserve caregivers who make them feel safe, loved, understood, and confident being themselves. I love creating opportunities for learning through play, encouraging independence, and becoming a trusted and consistent part of a family’s village. I’m also the co-founder of The Heart State Nanny Agency, where I help connect families with professional nannies while advocating for the nanny industry and creating opportunities for education, training, and community. Continuing my own education is equally important to me, and throughout my career I’ve invested in trainings, conferences, and professional development to continue growing as a caregiver. Whether I’m supporting a family through the newborn stage, caring for growing children, or helping parents navigate their childcare needs, my goal is always the same: to provide thoughtful, dependable care while making both children and parents feel supported.

Recent review

We had a wonderful experience with our night nanny Raven! She was incredibly helpful, attentive, and intuitive to our newborn’s needs. She seemed to know what was needed before we even had to ask, which made us feel so supported and at ease. Her care and attentiveness made such a difference during those early newborn days, and we’re so grateful for her help. I would absolutely recommend her to any family looking for compassionate, reliable newborn care!

As a queer, neurodivergent mother of two, she is uniquely qualified with her training to care for all people on their birth journey. Jess strives to normalize birth and postpartum experiences by sharing evidence-based education and providing empathetic, calm and non-judgemental presence in the postpartum recovery. Jess’s own birth stories inspire and inform her doula work. It is her passion to help parents navigate the transformative process from birth to postpartum with knowledge, coping strategies, bravery and resilience. In her free time Jess is a fiber artist, volunteers with Colors+, is a budding gardener and has a tiny arboretum House plants.

Recent review

Jess was our night doula for our third baby. We didn’t have a night doula for our first two babies so we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. Jess is kind, knowledgeable, loving, and so supportive. She helped me navigate my feeding journey and our daughter’s milk/soy allergy. She communicates with you the nights she’s coming to check in on how you and your baby are doing and provides help and guidance if you need on feeding, sleep, etc. I had postpartum depression with my first two kids and didn’t with my third, and I owe that all to Jess. I was able to sleep more and feel emotionally supported. She also loved our daughter and was very nurturing. I highly recommend her!

I’m Lea. A wife, mother, and birth doula (DONA trained). Long before I found birth work, I found myself drawn to supporting women through transformation. I began my career as a fitness coach after spending years healing my own relationship with my body and food. As I learned and grew, it became deeply meaningful to help other women navigate their own journeys with confidence and self-trust. Over time, I felt called to go deeper. I continued my education and began working with women through mindset and trauma-informed healing. My passion became helping women reconnect with themselves, uncover who they truly were beneath the noise, and step into the next chapter of their lives with intention. That work eventually led me to host transformational retreats in Costa Rica, guiding women through some of the most meaningful seasons of growth and change. Then came my own transformation: motherhood. After experiencing pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for myself, everything clicked into place. My doula played such an important role in my journey, and becoming a mother changed me in ways I never could have anticipated. Looking back, I can see that every chapter of my work had been preparing me for this one. Birth is about so much more than having a baby. It is a threshold. A crossing-over. A moment that asks something of you and leaves you forever changed. Supporting women through that transformation feels like the most natural expression of everything I’ve ever cared about. It is an incredible privilege to walk alongside families during one of the most vulnerable, powerful, and life-changing experiences they will ever have. My hope is that I can be the doula who helps you cross the threshold into the next version of yourself.

Working with Lea was absolutely life changing for me. She is so talented, wise, calm, and will always help you reach new heights within your mind. She helped me step outside of my thoughts / internal chatter and view them from a 3rd person perspective, creating such a breath of fresh air for my mental health. She will change your life i promise! <3

Jessica is an absolute gift. She walked with me from prenatal to delivery and I am forever grateful for that. Jessica communicated quickly and thoughtfully when I needed her virtually, offering advice and encouragement when I needed it most. When she arrived during labor, she became everything I needed. She was able to read the room and mood to know if I needed encouragement or options or if I just needed to vent or cry. The way she carries herself with her knowledge, the nurses and providers also respected her which created the most joyous environment for birth. I wasn’t able to see her during delivery but I could hear her words of encouragement ringing through the room. One of my other supporter persons told me Jessica jumped for joy when my daughter was born. That’s who she is- someone who knows birth, loves moms, loves birth and will literally jump for joy with you!

When I think of nurture, I think of Lisa. I was a scared, first time mom of twin girls. I had no female role model in my life. Then we met Lisa. She not only helped care for my girls, she cared for me and taught me so much on how to be a good mother to my girls, while also being good to myself. I owe so much to her for all her support and love.

Hi everyone! After I became a mom, I realized how much more I wish I had known. I looked back at all sorts of decisions I made in the birth process that affected my experience. My passion now is to enter the journey with others and make sure they have the information and resources that they need to confidently make decisions for themselves. Birth is also a very vulnerable and major transition in life for both the birther and the partner. My role is to provide reassurance and emotional support to both! Helping you create a plan to come as close to your desired birth experience as possible is also on my list of to do’s. You may know what you want it to feel like but you’re not sure how to achieve that. I’m here to help! Whether you’re having a c-section, a med-free birth, a birth with pain medications, a home birth or a hospital birth, I’m happy to support those decisions and make it the best experience possible. I see myself as a gap-filler. What ever seems to be missing for you (physical, emotional, or informational support), I’m there to fill it in.

Erica and I met at the beginning of my second trimester during my search for a doula. I knew immediately after our first meeting that she was the doula for me. Erica has many years of experience and has a really calming spirit. I shared with her my “calling” to have a natural birth and she was so supportive of my goals. She taught me how to use hypnobirthing techniques during the 6 months prior to my son being born. She also helped me to find resources and learn about my options as well as what questions to ask my doctor. I had an amazing birth experience and believe I was able to achieve a hypnobirth. Erica is unequivocally the best doula in the greater Cincinnati area. You won’t go wrong if you choose her! ❤️

I had the absolute greatest pleasure to have worked with Nicole. While searching for a Doula, I sought out someone kind and understanding. Being pregnant with your first child can be so scary, especially when you have fears about how you’re treated in the medical field. After our first meeting, I immediately knew I wanted her alongside me while I give birth. It never felt like I “hired” Nicole. It was almost impossible to feel that way because she truly cares, checks in, and goes above and beyond her title. She’s very familiar with the hospitals in the area, gave great birthing education, and is very thorough. I would definitely recommend her to any first time mom or first time family. I’ll forever be so grateful.

Hello! I'm Mandee, the owner of "She Must Be Loved Doula Services" My name "Mandee" translates to “she must be loved” or “worthy of love,” which inspired the title of my christian based private doula practice: She Must Be Loved Doula Services. I firmly believe that every mother deserves to feel cherished throughout her journey into motherhood, from preparation to the birthing experience and beyond. While I value the moments spent with newborns, my primary focus is on supporting and uplifting mothers. Although I am newer to the role of a doula -I believe I bring valuable insights derived from my doula training that acquired through the "A woman who serves" doula training program, virtual and in-person care I've provided, as well as my personal experiences as a mother of three daughters. My first daughter was born in London, England; my second in Boston, Massachusetts; and my third in Dublin, Ohio. Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate to receive prenatal midwifery care, with my first daughter delivered by midwives and, continued midwifery support for my subsequent children. The knowledge I gained from this experience was invaluable. Unfortunately, my exceptional midwife could not attend the birth of my second daughter, and I was cared for by an OBGYN. This experience taught me the vital importance of receiving love and compassion from your care provider during childbirth. Despite feeling mistreated by the OBGYN in Boston, I recognize my inherent worthiness of love and compassion, which I strive to extend to others. My third daughter was also delivered with the assistance of an OBGYN here in Ohio. That experience was notably more positive because I found my voice, and my husband and I became strong advocates for my needs and desires. I have learned a lot from my birthing experiences, both overseas and in the United States. I am dedicated to ensuring that other women have the best possible birthing experience. A mother must feel loved to foster a positive and empowering environment. The four pillars of doula support include physical support, emotional support, informational support, and advocacy. Additionally, I aspire to introduce a fifth pillar that holds special significance for me: spiritual support. I will earnestly pray for you, your baby, your family, and your birth experience throughout this transformative journey. God Bless, Mandee Rohn

Mandee was an absolute necessity for my non-epidural induction birth. Having heard horror stories about induction contractions, I began to doubt my unmedicated birth plan when I unexpectedly needed an induction around 39 weeks. Now on the other side of it, I’m so happy I get to tell a beautiful story of a relatively peaceful, controlled, and cathartic birthing experience. Mandee provided constant attention and care to help me stay calm in-control, and informed of my options. She has such a sweet and comforting demeanor and her suggestions and encouragement were always timely. I truly feel I couldn’t have had such a great birth experience without her. I tell all my expecting mom friends about her now and know she’s going to have such a powerful impact on so many more women and families :)

Cari Walters

Thank you for taking a minute to learn more about me! My name is Cari Walters. After an eight year battle with infertility, including a full year of testing, medications, and numerous hospital visits, I started my own mom Journey. My husband was deployed to Iraq for the birth of our first child. I would have been all alone if it wasn’t for the close-knit military wives (and occasionally my mom who lived out of state) that encircled me during this precious time. If it wasn’t for these women loving on me and advising me before, during, and after my birth, I know it would not have been such a positive experience. I knew at once that I wanted to support and love other moms in the same manner. I started out supporting new moms by being a part of a group called MOPS. My husband returned from war and shortly after we were blessed with a second baby without all the fertility trials. I continued working with moms through the MOPS organization as we moved across the country to Colorado. It was there that I met a beautiful friend and fellow MOPS mentor who introduced me to being a doula. In 2020, after taking the 200hr course with 75hrs of clinical work I began my journey as a full spectrum doula. I absolutely love birth and postpartum work but quickly learned that I really shined on the postpartum side of birth work. I concentrated on obtaining my Newborn Care Specialist certification and Sleep Guide Certification to improve and round out my skills as a postpartum doula.

Recent review

Cari has been wonderful to work with. Highly recommend. She is very professional, supportive & knowledgeable. She always arrives on time, maybe even a little early. I appreciate that she always leaves a note recapping the night with how much the LO ate, diapers & any comments on sleep or suggestions. My animals also loved Cari and the extra late night pets!

I certified as a Full Spectrum Birth Doula in 2021. I am a veteran birther, having had 8 babies. I have written two pregnancy books and working on third. AFTER raising 8 babies I found myself wanting to share my experiences and knowledge with other Mama's. I can tell you which of my pregncies were hydrated or dehydrated. I am starting a movement to empower all mamas from every walk of life. I want you to be a part of it. It doesn't matter to me if I am your hired doula or just a mentor. I want to make sure every women pregnant experiences the best possible outcome. To do that you must come to a complete understanding in regards to the first molecule of life Water!! Water is the key ingredient that empowers every pregnancy! I offer workshops and personal counseling based on my book available on Amazon "I am Water Understand Hydration during Pregnancy " Its her (your)body, her (your) pregnancy her (your) health. I believe every woman needs an advocate to make sure her birth plan manifests! Helping Mama's achieve their personal birth story goals is my life mission. Women today are dealing with different maternal factors than previous generations. Every pregnant mom wants a diet that is healthy. But in today's world that may not be as easily attainable as you would believe. We rely heavily on processed foods that are highly concentrated with sodium. Nearly every drink on the market comes in a plastic bottle. Juice, Water, Milk. We all have learned that microplastics is not healthy. Can we please have drinking products in aluminum cans with bpa free liners undetectable to taste or glass bottles? What are the consequences on a mothers body with added sodium and lots of plastics? When a mother consumes these products while pregnant does this put your health and your babies health on the best track? Is there a simple solution that all mothers can use? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE teaching expecting mothers the importance of hydration during Pregnancy in todays packaged and processed food world. We are all told by our medical team to drink more water and stay hydrated. BUT what does that really mean? As a birth doula I have found moms have questions that they feel are embarrassing to discus about hydration for fear of being thought ignorant. I explain to my moms that honestly that is the most important question you could ask. I break down what water does for you and your baby. We go over possible complications from dehydration. Lastly we discuss preventive hydration care. DID YOUKNOW YOUR BABYS BODY COMPOSITION AT BIRTH IS 70-75% WATER? It is simple, it's easy and makes a difference in regards to how a mom feels physically as well as emotionally about her body and baby. The health impovements that occur with a well hydrated mother are vastly important. Learn what they are and how to hydrate you and your baby. You can purchase on Amazon. Hi, I'm Victoria, also known as VicTheDoula, and I am the proud owner of The Crowned Nest Doula Company. As a dedicated doula, my mission is to support birthing individuals through their unique pregnancy journeys. Primarily, I offer remote doula services via text, calls, and Zoom meetings, ensuring that you have the guidance and support you need from the comfort of your own home. While I may occasionally offer in-person support on a case-by-case basis, my focus is on providing accessible care tailored to your needs. Though I do not have biological children, I am a loving mom of one and a foster/adoptive parent. My passion for becoming a doula stems from my experiences as a queer woman of color, where I have witnessed firsthand how the medical field can sometimes disadvantage women of color. With rising statistics highlighting these disparities, I felt compelled to advocate for those who may feel voiceless. I proudly support all couples and single parents, and my identity within the LGBTQIA+ community brings a unique perspective to my services. If you're seeking a remote doula who can be a steadfast rock during your time of need, provide valuable resources, and assist you and your partner in your journey to parenthood, I am here for you. Let's embark on this beautiful journey together!

Victoria was my doula for my pregnancy. As my sister I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else besides her to be there with me. Remotely and in person she was an amazing resource. When having complications while laboring doctors were ignoring my concerns. Vic quickly stepped in and had doctors realize something was wrong. Due to her diligence we realized my baby had already passed his meconium and an extra team needed to be present at his birth. I ended up having a c section of 25 hrs of laboring but Vic was right there cheering me on. Her being there for the birth of her nephew was pure magical. Best doula ever.

Working with Charuta as my doula was the absolute best decision I could have made for my birth journey. After having a previous C-section and facing anxieties around weight concerns and a previous scar opening, I was extremely nervous about attempting a vaginal birth. From day one, Charuta provided incredible pre-birth guidance, education, and continuous emotional support. She brought deep clarity, compassion, and evidence-based research that completely shifted my mindset. She patiently listened to all my fears, validated my concerns, and motivated me with such empowering confidence that I finally felt ready. Her presence and continuous support during labor and the postpartum period were invaluable.
