I am Isamarys Medina Rivera, a birth and postpartum doula. I was living in Puerto Rico, until my age of 21. I am the youngest daughter of a family of four, composed of a geriatric nurse mom, one older sister and a brick mason dad. Since the beginning of my life, I’ve always had a passion for a career in maternity fields. When I moved to Virginia, I decided that it was time to embrace that passion, especially being surrounded by Hispanic moms who feel vulnerable, because of the language barrier, as well as overwhelming emotions. As a Hispanic military wife, I know how hard can be. And by experience, I know how hard it can be to give birth and have a healthy postpartum, when your military partner is not around. That is why I am always looking to assist military families. After I took the training for Birth and Postpartum Doula, I added a placenta encapsulation services, because I believe it is important for my clients to be able to benefit from their own nutrients available in their placenta, such as iron, sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, to help them regain their strength and give them a piece of art that their bodies bodies created. After my first postpartum experience, mature moms have a special place in my heart, and it will be more than an honor serve them.
