I am a local to Virginia Beach, and although I plan to stay here long term, my heart also has a home in Hawaii where I spent a few years in my twenties. I love to adventure, design, have community and learn new things! I spend 100% of the time being a mother to two absolutely, wildly amazing children, and being a wife to my long-time sweet heart. I have had beautiful home births with both my children and I would love to have more children! My dream is grow a business that not only supports my family, but over all, supports woman and families all of the world so that we as mothers and as families feel the most confident and empowered that we have ever felt as a community, so that we raise generations of parents and children to be self-sufficient, self-thinkers and rooted in love.

A Little About Myself My name is Elise Osmun, I grew up in a small town in southern Oregon with my parents and three siblings. Over the last ten years I have made many moves in my life. My family and I left Oregon to live in San Diego California where I then attend San Diego State University to obtain a Bachelors in Psychology. While working as a professional nanny for years, I gained a beautiful community of families, mothers, and babies. I had the pleasure of meeting a doula who suggested I volunteer at the hospital birthing center to see how I liked it. I fell in love with the Doula world and went on to obtain my certification. While going through the program I realized the many other certifications that would be beneficial in helping as many people as possible. I have met my life partner and decided to join his military lifestyle. After a few moves we now have a long term home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I have always had a strong passion for supporting families during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Each family has their own way of parenting, needs, and values. My goal is to support you in having a non-judgmental, informed, and respected birth experience. My name is D’Starr, and I have over 15 years of experience supporting birthing people and families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with calm, informed, and compassionate care. I serve my community as a birth and postpartum doula, a trained monitrice providing limited clinical support, and a maternity self-care specialist. My work is rooted in evidence-based practice, cultural awareness, and deep respect for physiologic birth and family autonomy. In addition to my doula practice, I have completed my formal midwifery education and continue to work within a home birth midwifery practice while preparing for the national midwife certification examination through the National Association of Registered Midwives. I am Isamarys Medina Rivera, a birth and postpartum doula. I was living in Puerto Rico, until my age of 21. I am the youngest daughter of a family of four, composed of a geriatric nurse mom, one older sister and a brick mason dad. Since the beginning of my life, I’ve always had a passion for a career in maternity fields. When I moved to Virginia, I decided that it was time to embrace that passion, especially being surrounded by Hispanic moms who feel vulnerable, because of the language barrier, as well as overwhelming emotions. My desire to become a support for women grows every time I meet single moms and Hispanic families. The best way for me to become that support was to become a Doula. Inspired and motivated by this passion, I took the Birth and Postpartum Doula training with DONA International. After that I created my business, Amarys Doula, Child of the moon. As a Hispanic military wife, I know how hard can be. And by experience, I know how hard it can be to give birth and have a healthy postpartum, when your military partner is not around. That is why I am always looking to assist military families. After I took the training for Birth and Postpartum Doula, I added a placenta encapsulation services, because I believe it is important for my clients to be able to benefit from their own nutrients available in their placenta, such as iron, sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, to help them regain their strength and give them a piece of art that their bodies bodies created. After my first postpartum experience, mature moms have a special place in my heart, and it will be more than an honor serve them. I help my birth and postpartum clients with respect, love, and I give them all the evidence based information possible.
