Simone Toomer

Simone has been holding space for expecting and postpartum families for over 10 years. Birth has a powerful way of healing and transforming you, and her first birth did just that. The ability to have 2 empowered births the way she wanted, gave light to the need for advocacy, education and doula support amongst the birthing community, especially black families. Simone is a mother, doula, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, childbirth educator and infant sleep educator. She has been teaching and mentoring doulas along the way and excited to dive deeper into holding the hands of the next generation of birth workers.

I cannot say enough good things about Simone as our night doula and lactation consultant. From the moment she entered our home, she brought a sense of calm, compassion, and expertise that made an immediate difference in our postpartum experience. As a second-time mom navigating recovery, sleep deprivation, and feeding challenges, her presence was nothing short of a gift. She supported our entire family with such gentleness and professionalism. Her overnight care allowed us to get desperately needed rest, knowing our baby was in kind, capable hands. Her lactation guidance was equally invaluable. She offered evidence-based support with zero judgment—troubleshooting tummy issues, providing reassurance, and giving practical tools that worked. Thanks to her help, I went from overwhelmed and in pain to confident and empowered. I did not feel a bit of judgment when I chose to go from breastfeeding to formula due to my baby's tummy issues. She listened deeply, responded thoughtfully, and truly respected our parenting values. She didn’t just care for our baby—she cared for us. If you're looking for someone who is not only highly skilled but also emotionally attuned and reliable, I wholeheartedly recommend Simone. She’s an absolute gem and a vital part of our early parenting story.

From the moment I stepped into the world of birth and postpartum work, I knew this was my calling. I’m a Birth & Postpartum Doula and Newborn & Infant Care Specialist serving families across the Bay Area and East Bay, with a background grounded in evidence-based care, cultural sensitivity, and a genuine passion for supporting parents during one of the most transformative seasons of their lives. My training includes Cross-Certification through ProDoula as a Certified Postpartum & Infant Care Doula, Hospital Friendly Doula (HFD) Certification as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist certification through the University of Colorado, CPR & First Aid through the Menlo Park Fire Department, CERT Member through the Menlo Park Fire Department, Child Development through Abilene, continuing education in Lactation (UCSD), Infant Massage, and professional development in Sleep Shaping/Sleep Training through Summer Sleep Secrets. I am also an active volunteer doula at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, supporting birthing people and families from diverse backgrounds. Families often describe my approach as a blend of warmth, intuition, and grounded professionalism. I deeply believe in meeting each family where they are — without judgment, without pressure, and with a plan that reflects their unique rhythms, identities, and goals. I proudly support LGBTQ+ families, offering fully inclusive, gender-affirming care and language so every parent feels safe, welcomed, and respected. My philosophy is rooted in gentle structure and the Montessori method, encouraging independence for both parents and babies through simple, responsive routines. I specialize in newborn behavior, feeding, sleep foundations, and emotional support — helping families understand their baby’s cues and build healthy rhythms from the very beginning. One of my strongest areas of expertise is sleep shaping, using age-appropriate techniques that allow many babies to sleep through the night by 4–5 months, always with a respectful, attachment-minded approach. Clients often share that I have an effortless way of integrating into the home, anticipating needs before they are spoken, and creating an environment of peace, order, and emotional safety. Whether supporting breastfeeding, troubleshooting sleep, soothing a fussy newborn, guiding siblings, or caring for a recovering parent, my goal is always the same: to bring calm, clarity, and confidence to the postpartum experience. For me, being a doula is more than a profession — it’s a devotion to nurturing, empowering, and walking alongside families during a beautiful and vulnerable chapter. Every home I enter becomes part of my heart, and it is an honor to support parents as they grow into their new roles with confidence, joy, and rest. If you’re looking for someone who will care for your baby with tenderness, support your recovery with evidence-based expertise, honor your family’s identity, and guide you with compassion every step of the way, I would be honored to walk this journey with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Josy as my postpartum doula, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. From day one, she was incredibly respectful of our family's needs and preferences, always communicating clearly and checking in to make sure we felt supported. Josy's knowledge of infant care is exceptional. She guided us through everything from feeding and sleep routines to soothing techniques with confidence and expertise. She supported me on my nursing journey and with infant massage, especially tummy massage in the early weeks. What truly impressed me was her commitment to continuously learning and deepening her skills—she stayed current with the latest research and best practices, which gave me tremendous peace of mind during those early weeks. Her calm and joyful presence and genuine care made such a difference during a vulnerable time. If you're looking for a postpartum doula who is professional, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to her craft, Josy is an outstanding choice. Beyond her technical expertise, what truly set Josy apart was her extraordinary kindness and emotional intelligence. She understood that welcoming a newborn into the family is about so much more than feeding schedules and sleep—it's about navigating a profound life transition with all its joys and challenges. Josy met us exactly where we were, without judgment, and created a safe space for us to ask questions, express concerns, and adjust to our new reality. Her deep understanding of the needs of families with newborns was evident in countless small but meaningful ways. She anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, whether it was preparing a nourishing snack, tidying up the kitchen so we could rest, or simply sitting with me during a difficult moment and offering reassurance. She recognized when I needed encouragement and when I just needed someone to listen. Josy also showed remarkable sensitivity to the dynamics of our whole family. She understood that postpartum support isn't just about the baby—it's about caring for parents as they adjust to their new roles, managing recovery, sleep deprivation, and the emotional roller coaster of those first weeks. Her presence brought a sense of calm and competence that allowed us to feel more confident as parents. What I valued most was her genuine warmth and the way she made us feel seen and supported as individuals, not just clients. Josy truly cares about the families she works with, and that compassion shines through in everything she does. Having her by our side during those precious early weeks was an invaluable gift.

Way, iskwist Sierra Sanchez. Hello, my name is Sierra Sanchez. I am a descendant of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of Indians and a Mexican-American. I have 3 years of experience under my belt as a doula and lactation peer counselor. I have supported hospital, birth center, and home births. I am confident in my skills and services and am devoted to continued development. Since 2025 I have really focused on bringing more culture into my work and connecting with my communities. I attended the first annual Returning from the Stars conference hosted by the Center for Indigenous Midwifery and completed their Indigenous doula training. I also began a part time position aiding Spokane Tribal Network in supporting local Indigenous doulas, such as myself. I look forward to future opportunities to progress the work we are doing in and for our communities.

We loved our experience with Sierra! From the first meeting her demeanor was warm and friendly, we were able to meet at a local coffee place and just chat initially and she really made it a comfortable experience. From answering late night texts and phone calls about general pregnancy symptoms, to birthing positions, to helping me with breast feeding postpartum, her knowledge and expertise has been priceless. She was very present for my labor and helped reexplain things the doctors were saying when I couldn’t quite process during contractions. It was wonderful to have another support other than my husband during labor, as well as someone willing to take photos so my husband could just focus on me. If you’re on the fence about having a doula I couldn’t recommend it enough! If we were ever to have another child in the future we wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to Sierra again.

Hi, I’m Siedah Israel, a Certified Labor Doula, Holistic Wellness Practitioner, and Certified Herbalist based in Fredericksburg in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. I’m a wife of 15 years and a homeschooling mother of five. My wellness and birth advocacy journey began with earning a certificate in Massage Therapy from Eastern Virginia Career College in 2018. I later completed my Doula Certification through Germanna Community College in 2024 and graduated with honors in Herbal Studies from the American College of Healthcare Sciences in 2025. I am currently in Phase I of the PEP process as I work toward becoming a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). I have extensive experience supporting families through hospital births, birth center births, and home births. Personally, I have experienced three hospital births and two home births, which deeply informs the care, perspective, and support I offer to the families I serve. When I’m not supporting families, I enjoy homeschooling, spending time outdoors with my children, writing poetry, working on my werewolf novel, and handcrafting natural hair and skincare products. It is a true honor to walk alongside families with compassion, cultural awareness, and grounded support during such a sacred season of life.

I truly do not know what I would have done without Siedah, and I believe I amucky to have found her for my second birth. As someone who has gone through a traumatic birth experience my first pregnancy, I knew I needed some additional support outside of my husband. But, let's talk about the process even before birth. Months before giving birth, Siedah reminded me and helped me re-process my trauma. Made me really think about how I wanted things to go this time around. To make me confident as well in asking questions about my care and babies care. I feel like that was a huge part in the success of my second birth experience. Fast forward to the actual birth, Siedah asked all the healthcare staff the right questions, or had them re-explain what was going on. I did have to be induced as I had pre-eclampsia. Everything went so smooth, it was exactly how I imagined it. Not to mention how fast it all went too! Siedah has such a big heart, and you can tell she truly cares about you; wants what is best for you too! She treats you like family, and reminds you to choose yourself which can be hard sometimes to remember when you're a mom. You won't regret having her by your side.

My goal is to help parents feel informed, confident, and cared for every step of the way. Grant + Leah 2/20/2026 "Mari was assigned to us as a replacement doula when our original doula had a conflicting delivery. Mari immediately reached out and was flexible to our needs in early labor. My wife was laboring hard in triage for 7 hours (there was a major rush at the hospital, we couldn't get a room or her planned epidural for that long) and doesn't know how she would have coped without Mari. She immediately brought a calm presence to our situation while also helping us get the situation under control and manage contractions with various techniques. I truly cannot recommend my doula enough. She was by my side throughout my entire pregnancy journey, always there whenever I needed her—and often before I even realized I did. No question, concern, or doubt was ever too small. She patiently answered everything, reassured me, and helped prepare me both physically and mentally for a natural birth. She even provided monthly massages and other techniques that helped me feel more comfortable throughout my pregnancy. But my greatest gratitude is for everything she did during my labor. When my contractions started in the middle of the night, she came to my home at 2 a.m. without hesitation. She stayed with me through every single contraction, helping me cope with hip squeezes, lower back pressure, massage, acupuncture, labor combs, and a TENS machine. She continuously adjusted her techniques to help ease my pain and keep me focused. Around 9 a.m., we went to the hospital together, and she remained by my side for the entire labor until my baby was born. She stayed with me until 11 p.m., never leaving me alone. She advocated for me, made sure my birth preferences were respected, and did everything she could to make the experience as calm, positive, and empowering as possible. What makes her truly exceptional is her compassion. She doesn’t treat this as just a job—you can genuinely feel how deeply she cares about the mothers she supports. She gives her whole heart to making your pregnancy, labor, and birth experience as beautiful and comfortable as possible. Hiring her was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancy, and I honestly can’t imagine going through labor without her. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, dedicated, and incredibly caring doula, I recommend her with all my heart.

Hello! So great to meet you, I'm Max! I am a LGBT/ Queer affirming birth doula who brings a unique perspective to the pregnancy and laboring experience. My background in body work and physical therapy gives me a distinctive understanding of how to apply my skills as a doula to physiological birth. My calming presence is reassuring to those I'm supporting, and their families. I am passionate about empowering all pregnant and birthing people. My strength is my adaptability; which allows me to support families in their choices. I am a parent to my 13year old clone, who I birthed at home. I run a suburban goat farm and have two giant fur babies that try to steal my bed. (Great Danes named Freyja and Kuma). I enjoy dad jokes, puns, and free books. Max is the best. I have very complicated pregnancies and work in ob so max understands my stress levels and always put me at ease through out. Our family worked with max during my second pregnancy which was debatably the worst, and my third. Max always had a plan for our sessions and understood how crappy things were for a mom with hg. When it came to my labor all the prep work I did with him absolutely paid off. During these pregnancies I felt more skilled because max. He helped me remain present, create realistic goals, and take care of myself which can be so difficult. I truely trust the work he does and feel that he is such a valuable member of my birth team. Doulas are a blessing.

Nia was heaven sent for my whole birthing process. She was extremely patient, kind snd accommodating. I am a second time mom with a huge gap so it was like the first time all over again. Nia helped to ease my fears by informing of options I was not aware of and weigh pros snd cons of each. She helped me create s birth plan and was my voice when I was hesitant to speak. Exercises, literature, in home sessions, phone support and postpartum visits…she does it all with grace. She helped me bring my baby boy into the world and for that I will forever be grateful. I hired amy in 2025 for my first pregnancy PRICING: Amy had great pricing that was a little bit lower than most doulas you would find in KC proper. She was incredibly helpful in submitting paperwork so my work would reimburse me(trust me it was a lot of hoops to jump through and she did them with a smile) CLASSES: I’ll start by saying I was definitely someone who listened to a birth story or hypno birth video nearly every day on my drive into work. I think her classes offered great advice but much of the material if you were like me and constantly listen and read things could be learned online. I will say while I did feel like most of it was refreshers and was good to talk through different coping strategies, birth preferences, positions (this I felt was something I didn’t know much about and she had many print outs for), and ways to advocate for yourself. The longer version of will be at the end but I had to have a very quick delivery due to complications and my husband was able to really speak up and buy me some time using the strategies that Amy had made sure to really emphasize. I do think Amy had a lot to do with him telling the Drs. I need a few private minutes and asking for a different nurse to help me make my decision. ON CALL SUPPORT: Amy was so sweet and there was one time I had a rough appointment and was feeling beat down. She invited me to her house to chat and walk through my emotions. She was always there for a phone call or to help me find resources when I had questions L&D: I had an induction. We had built a plan with Amy for when I was further along and in need of support then she would come to the hospital. Unfortunately I had to have an urgent c section about 1 hour into my day. With that said I don’t have a lot of input on L&D with her as she was not the one we were frantically calling/ texting as I was going to the OR. She did show up after and offered to bring us food or any kind of comfort measures. She also offered to swing by to allow my husband some time out of the hospital (my folks were there so we didn’t take her up on this). I know Amy would’ve been there had we texted her because she was checking in frequently throughout the night when I was getting my cervix softened and rough when they started the pitocin POST PART: Amy was great about checking in and making sure I was supported. I was not super mobile and also had sooooo many people stopping by, she allowed me time that I much needed before my post partum visit. From the outside looking in - I could see this visit as even more helpful if you did not have a lot of people around the area. Overall Amy was great, you can tell she loves what she does and care deeply about her clients. I really leaned on some of the earlier teaching and strategies she gave me when I was told that my day was going to end differently than I expected.

Adrian was an incredible support throughout my pregnancy and at my birth. She was attentive, and taught me so much about my prenatal health, the birth process, nutrition, and more. She checked in frequently, and followed up with my health. I was a gestational diabetic, and had never dealt with that before. She was very knowledgeable and reassuring. When I went into labor, we walked, we danced, we laughed, and we prayed. She respected my birth plan. And it was beautiful, unmedicated birth! Having Adrian by my side was a bright, loving and necessary part of a whole beautiful birth experience! She also took care to follow me for my first 6 weeks postpartum, answering any questions and encouraging me and my motherhood.

I’m a caregiver who believes children thrive best when they feel safe, seen, and genuinely understood. I approach each child as a whole person—with their own personality, emotions, and way of learning—and I work to support them with patience, consistency, and respect. I value routines, clear communication, and creating calm, nurturing environments where children can explore, grow, and build confidence at their own pace. My philosophy is rooted in connection first. When children feel emotionally secure, everything else follows—learning, behavior, and independence. I partner closely with parents because consistency between home and care matters. I take pride in being dependable, attentive, and intentional in the way I show up each day. Caring for children isn’t just something I do—it’s work I take seriously, with heart and purpose.

Ashley is Amazing , compassionate, understanding , flexible, patient and loving. I love and value that she advocates for my wants and needs. Her being a mommy and woman herself shines through how well she really relates to what are all the motions and vulnerability we experience during birth that i never really even knew to pay attention to until I met with Ashley. Alongside her compassion she doesnt ignore core values of your beliefs and expectations as planet fitness would say she gives that judge free zone, or we listen and we don't judge.
