My name is Val and I am a trained NCS, and Lactation Educator. I also have training in gentle pediatric sleep conditioning, COVID safety, CPR/AED/First Aid, Safe breastmilk handling, multiples care and safe infant sleep practices. I have experience providing overnight care, 24 hr care, daytime newborn care as well as travel care. I have worked with families of different ethnicities , religions and orientations, and I am always enthusiastic to learn and follow newborn care practices that are sensitive and inclusive of the families culture. If you choose to have me work with your family, you will find me to be enthusiastic, understanding, diligent, flexible, discerning, level-headed and nurturing to the parents, the baby and other children (and pets) in the home. I genuinely enjoy working with families and newborns, and my favorite part is the exciting privilege of guiding parents through the exhilarating, and at times confusing and frustrating, world of newborns, to a point where they are confident, well rested and enthusiastic about peaceful days ahead as a family.

I want to share my strong recommendation for Val as an Overnight Newborn Care Specialist for twins. From the moment she stepped into our home, Val's expertise and compassion shone through. Throughout the nights, she skillfully managed the needs of both babies, ensuring they were well-cared for and content. Val's dedication went beyond just basic care; she provided invaluable support and guidance to us as parents. Her reassuring presence allowed us to rest easier, knowing our twins were in capable hands. I have no doubt that Val's warmth, professionalism, and genuine love for what she does make her an exceptional choice for any family seeking overnight newborn care! Lauren Choung

As a mother of five, healer, and birthkeeper, I bring over 22 years of experience caring for infants and young children, starting at age 13 when I cared for my nephew. As the youngest of seven siblings, I welcomed my first child, my “soul twin,” at 15; we share the same birthday, deepening our bond. I am dedicated to empowering women through holistic, nurturing, and informed birth experiences. I am the visionary founder of She Who Births All, Inc offering birth planning, herbal wellness, lactation support, and spiritual birth preparation. I also founded Bee Haven Holistic Health and Wellness Clinic, committed to whole-family care from infancy through end-of-life. With training as a Board-Certified Doctor of Natural Medicine (DNM), Doctor of Holistic Health (DHH), and Master Herbalist, I blend ancient wisdom with modern care. Currently, I study midwifery at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery. Whether birthing at home, a center, or hospital, I honor your vision with compassion and holistic support.

Dr. Burton has truly been a life saver for me and my family. After two years of trying to convince myself to seek the right kind of care, I finally found her, and I’m so grateful I did. She cared not only for me, but also for my husband and our two children when she was practicing in Indiana. She was my doula for both my very first birth and my last birth, and I couldn’t have imagined having anyone else by my side. Her presence, guidance, and support made all the difference for me and my family during those sacred milestones. Although I was saddened to hear that she was closing her Indiana location and relocating to the DMV area, I completely understand her decision as she continues advancing her education and completing her clinical preceptorship. While she now focuses specifically on Women’s Health and Maternity, I’m happy to know that I can still continue with her as a Telehealth patient. Meeting Dr. Burton in Indiana was a blessing for our household. Her compassion, knowledge, and dedication to holistic care have made a lasting impact on our health and well being. Even though her practice has shifted, I remain grateful that she was part of our journey and look forward to continuing my care with her in this next chapter.

Alyssa came in to our lives with just about a month before our daughter arrived. Our daughter was breech, and our OB was not supportive in our desire for a labor breech delivery. After changing hospitals, Alyssa joined our team. She was instantly supportive and caring, a feeling that my wife described as “knowing I wanted her as the doula before I finished my call”. Alyssa was there every step of the way, from a midnight water break, to a 30 hour labor. She kept my wife company through contractions, doctor visits, worries and pain. When labor suddenly intensified, she was working with the doctors excellently and supporting both me and my wife. When my wife suddenly felt a sharp pain, Alyssa was there to tell the doctors it was time to pivot to a c section. And it was lifesaving that she did. My wife had a rupture that required emergency attention, and still lost 5 quarts of blood. Luckily, both my wife and daughter were ok by the end of the surgery. Alyssa continued to provide us support and post partum attention. Alyssa is a doula I would recommend to anyone, especially someone looking for someone with attention to detail, a kind heart, a compassionate ear, and the ability to take decisive action in critical moments. She saved my wife, my daughter, and also my own life. 5 stars, wish I could give more.

Hi, I'm Catherine! I live in Hyattsville with my husband, 2.5 YO son and puppy named Daisy. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 2014, I traveled around doing some mission work, met my husband while living in Maine and eventually we landed back in my hometown to start a family. I believe that birth is meant to work, and that all women deserve support, encouragement and respect while they are birthing their beautiful baby! Let me walk with you on this journey towards motherhood however that looks for you. I am happy to support you with in-person or virtual doula services. I am trained in Hypnobirthing and Lamaze techniques, and currently working towards certification with Madriella Birth Doula Certification. Catherine is an incredible doula! From the very start she made me feel supported, informed, and cared for. She was by my side through every step—preparing me and my husband before labor, encouraging us during delivery, and continuing to check in afterward. Her knowledge, compassion, and advocacy made all the difference. I can’t recommend her enough and will definitely have her by my side for future pregnancies!

As a young child, I found my way to birth before I had language for it. At five years old, I was guiding my dolls through labor, sitting with them, speaking softly, staying close. I didn’t understand what I was doing then, but something in me already knew. There was a quiet pull toward women in this moment of becoming. As I grew older, that pull deepened. I became fascinated by the power held in pregnancy, birth, and the early days after. The way a body carries, protects, and nourishes life. The way a baby makes their way into the world. The way a mother changes forever once they meet. It felt sacred, ancient, and deeply familiar. I often imagined myself surrounded by ancestors and loved ones, witnessing prayers and dreams taking form as new life arrived. What followed birth felt just as powerful to me. Watching a mother soften and strengthen at the same time. Watching intuition awaken. Watching love root itself in ways that cannot be taught. Mothers and babies choosing one another. A love story that begins again and again. For years, I was visited by dreams. Women from all walks of life birthing their babies. In each dream, I was there. Holding hands. Offering comfort. Showing up in a way understood only by women and the spirits who have always walked with us. The dreams didn’t stop until I finally listened. I became a certified birth and postpartum doula and stood alongside more than two hundred families. I have been a sister, an aunt, a steady presence in moments of fear, release, and joy. I’ve wiped tears, celebrated feeding breakthroughs, and watched parents grow into themselves. To be clear, I don't possess any special power; I merely hold the flashlight as parents navigate and uncover their own. Beyond my work, I am a mother to three humans who shape me every day. My oldest is deeply nurturing, a true revolutionary who speaks with power and purpose. My son teaches me how to slow down and feel, how to think bigger, how to trust what feels impossible. And my youngest, known by her Ghanaian uncle as “The Queen Mother,” leads with her whole spirit. She chases the wind, climbs trees, jumps in puddles, tends the garden, and mothers our chickens and ducks with ease. Favorite things: The roar of the ocean Barred owls calling at night A truly binge-worthy show Deep, uncontrollable laughter Friends who don’t take life too seriously

I had the absolute pleasure of having Avivah as my baby nurse after my C-section, and I truly don’t know how I would’ve managed without her. From the moment she arrived, she brought calm, care, and competence into our home. Not only did she care for my newborn with such gentleness and attention, but she also went above and beyond by helping with my older kids, preparing lunches for me, bathing the baby, and even folding laundry without ever being asked. She is incredibly capable, proactive, and thoughtful, always one step ahead of what I needed. Her support allowed me the time and space to rest and heal, knowing everything (and everyone) was in the best hands. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

I always joke that my first experience as a Doula was with my older sister who brought her beautiful baby girl into the world in May of 2007. Like any little sister I followed her everywhere and I was excited for the opportunity to accompany her to prenatal visits, process all the advice she would get from friends, family and strangers and find resources to help her welcome her little one. We made lists, shopped for clothing, strollers, bottles, maternity clothes and more. We visited a few hospitals and finally picked the one we believed would provide her the best experience. We weighed over so many decisions and then we waited, waited and waited a little more to meet her baby in the 41st week of pregnancy. Fast forward to 2026 and her baby girl is now a junior in college! As a doula I have worked with families in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and now Maryland. I look forward to meeting yours and helping achieve your parenting goals!

We loved having Lebo as a postpartum doula. She is extremely detail oriented with great communication and was so kind and loving to our baby. Her experience is obvious, because she is very proactive and a natural. She was a pro at feeding, burping, changing and soothing baby, and always made sure we had clean bottles and pump parts, and was great with our dog. We learned a lot of great baby tips from her and trusted that she had our family’s best interest at heart. She made the first couple weeks as first time parents a little less daunting.
