When I'm not supporting families, I love adventuring with my husband and three children, tending to our garden, spending time with our farm animals, learning all things homeopathy, and, of course, enjoying a good cup of coffee!

I entered into the childbirth field for two main reasons. First, I want to empower women through the natural methods of childbirth. I remember the feelings of strength and control that I encountered when I had my three children at home in the presence of midwives. Now, I want to pass this on to other expectant mothers. With my first pregnancy, I was alone and thought about placing my baby with adoptive parents. Then one day, along comes the most incredible woman who ended up changing my life. She was a midwife who said that she would take me on as a client for the fee of $50 (for supplies). Little did I know that she had hoped that a home birth would convince me to keep my baby. Well, her plan was a success and she has given me a gift I have yet to repay. My second reason for getting into the birthing field was because I want to eradicate the general public’s misconceptions about pregnancy and the birthing process. A woman’s pregnant uterus should not be treated as a tumorous growth to be controlled by medicine, but rather a natural event that women have been participating for many years before doctors. In most cases, birth can be accomplished safely and satisfactorily without intervention, such as drugs and surgery. The need for patience must be practiced in the presence of a laboring woman. I believe that each labor and birth is a unique and miraculous experience. I also believe that there is more than one good way to have a baby and that parents should have the proper tools available for effective informed consent and informed refusal. Beyond my ever-increasing passion for all things birth-related, I am a big fan of reading rom-coms, dragging my husband out on adventures with our three kids, extroverting (is that a word?) with friends, and generally enjoying this hectic and lovely life. Now on to why you’re here! After the birth of our first child, I realized there were some big gaps in the childbirth classes that we took. Before we became pregnant again, I was researching what we had missed and awoke a passion for childbirth and maternal care that has only deepened over the years. After our three kids were born, I became a Childbirth Educator in 2017 and a Birth Doula in 2018. I also delivered two babies as a gestational surrogate in 2019 and 2021. I love supporting families of all kinds, including (but not limited to) biological families, adoptive parents, LGBTQ+ parents, single parents, and surrogates and IPs. I decided to become a Midwife because my own empowering home births inspired me to provide that opportunity to other interested families. I enrolled in a MEAC accredited midwifery program in 2014. It took 3 years of academic work and 3 years of clinical training to qualify to sit for my National exams. My clinical training was in Utah, where I got very comfortable serving mothers having their 6th, 7th or even 8th babies, often after the age of 35. I also worked with many young college students starting their families. I served in several home birth midwifery practices, and attended births in 7 different birth centers. I learned from 18 different midwife preceptors. Upon graduation in 2020, I returned with my family to live in and serve the Grand Valley and surrounding community, including Eastern Utah. I In my leisure time I enjoy urban homesteading across the street from the Colorado River, and making music with my family. I recently gave birth to my fourth daughter (baby #8). I also love teaching and supporting the next generation of midwifery students in our area, and I consider every client to be a potential student!

I am a Certified Lactation Counselor and is also certified through the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). have been a doula since 2007 and have had the opportunity to attend a variety of births including medicated, non-medicated, multiples, VBAC’s and home-births. I use many tools to help a woman cope in labor including massage, pressure points, movement, aromatherapy and I am trained in using a TENS unit and have units that I let my clients use for their labor. I love teaching some of the tricks I have learned over the years to the dad and helping him feel a part of the birth. My goal is for the mom and dad to feel like “WE did it” as they hold their sweet baby. I feel passionate about a woman’s power and ability to have the kind of birth experience she longs for. Birth is a beautiful, powerful and natural event. I believe that during labor, a mom needs to surround herself with people that believe in her ability and trust her body and I am always honored when chosen to be a part of that team.
