Hello Families. My name is Dereka Carter and I am a maternal support practitioner and newborn care specialist excited to care for you and your little one. In addition to the daily operation of Carter Comprehensive Birth, I also specialize in working with high-profile families that travel the world while enjoying doing so. My parenting practice and teachings have strong roots in respectful care and I emphasize attachment theory about infant and parental mental health. I pride myself on being friendly, warm, empathetic, and flexible while helping families adapt to their new normal. Regardless of my training, I am happy to support your family goals in a nonjudgmental way while helping everyone transition into their new roles.

Recent review

LaDereka was and has continued to be our emotional and healthcare question support through pregnancy as a teacher (daddy boot camp), doula and newborn care specialist. She was key to helping us understand our options and what to expect when my pregnancy went from normal and healthy to a diagnosis of gestational hypertension with bed rest at 34 weeks. LaDereka helped us rewrite our birth preferences to accommodate an induction at 37 weeks and led us through the different interventions and natural options we could try before agreeing to an intervention. LaDereka remained by our side through out the labor process as a trusted guide and second opinion with which to weigh the nurse and doctor’s suggestions and feedback. It was great to be able to ask questions and understand the process even when our nurse was attending to other patients. Although we ended up delivering our happy and healthy baby girl via caesarean, I know we tried everything we could have for a natural birth. As our newborn care specialist LaDereka was there on night 1 to ease our transition from hospital to home. Dad is getting to sleep through the night and takes over when her shift ends in the morning and mom is enjoying 8+ hours of sleep each night (with pumping mixed in!). Not only has LaDereka’s care of our newborn allowed us to prioritize sleep and my recovery, she’s a wonderful resource for lactation and all things baby care.

Genicia Battle

My name is Genicia Battle, known in the Ifá community as Ifáfúnké Àṣọre. I am a Full Circle Doula and Birth Companion, trained through the SMC Full Circle Doula Birth Companion Training. A program rooted in the cultural, historical, and spiritual traditions of African American midwifery and birth work. I became a doula because every birthing person deserves to feel seen, supported, and spiritually connected throughout their journey. I know the difference it makes to birth in a space that feels warm, honoring, and sacred. My vision is to offer families not only emotional and spiritual support, but also culturally rooted healing tools that nurture the womb, body, and soul. Birth is not just a moment! It is a portal! My purpose is to ensure that every mother steps through it feeling whole, powerful, and profoundly connected to her divine nature.

Recent review

I am honored to have crossed paths with Genicia. She is truly a blessing in my life. I shared my pregnancy journey and expressed my desire for a holistic doula. Well, let me tell you, she was incredibly responsive to my texts and calls, no matter the time of day. She is incredibly knowledgeable and always has a listening ear, ready to provide solutions. She is not afraid to let me know that certain aspects of my pregnancy concerns do not fall within her scope of practice and that WE should discuss them with my OB. I truly appreciate her willingness to provide me with a curated tea I take daily, affirmations to boost my spirits, and a listening ear to my concerns. If you are in Texas area and seeking a knowledgeable, understanding, and holistic doula, she will always be my top choice. I still have a few more months of my pregnancy journey, but I am confident that you will see more written reviews from me as we explore the transitioning times of birthing and postpartum together.

We believe that birth is YOUR story and should be done your way. We try our best to support our clients wishes during births and follow directions for post Partum care as well. We think it’s important not to push clients to do things but allow them to choose their own paths. We love what we do and love educating our clients so that they’re able to make the best decisions for themselves and feel well informed when doing so… We are a team/partnership of two doulas and a registered nurse to cover all things birth, postpartum and beyond!

Recent review

Kourtney was our son’s night doula for 8 weeks. We interviewed several doula’s before landing on her. From our very first conversation Kourtney’s professionalism, knowledge, and kindness stood out well above the others. From discussing her schedule, rates, and philosophy of care, she was clearly very experienced and willing to educate us as first time parents. She was also willing to work with our schedule and needs to make her services work for both of us. Working with Kourtney was nothing short of amazing. She was always on time or early for every shift, she came prepared to learn about our sons day and what to expect out of the night. We were always able to discuss any concerns we have and she gave great advice to help us manage him when she was not there. She helped us trouble shoot the many challenges we had navigating our son’s first few weeks of life. Offering advice on how to treat his ailments, products to support his care, and when to consult our pediatrician. Our son was a NICU baby and we were extremely concerned for his early development and couldn’t have found a better provider to be a part of our village. Every night we were able to rest peacefully knowing our son was in great care. Kourtney took great notes and let us know how he did every night and gave us suggestions to have a good day and better nights when she wasn’t coming in. Overall, Kourtney was the best doula we could have asked for and we loved working with her. We highly recommend her as a caregiver.

I am a passionate doula and yoga teacher who loves helping people find balance and strength in every stage of life. As a birth and postpartum doula, I specialize in natural births and believe every woman should have the opportunity to birth on her own terms. I provide evidence-based education, emotional support, and hands-on care, empowering families to make informed decisions that align with their values. With a calming presence and deep respect for the birthing process, I ensure each person feels supported, heard, and in control of their experience. Since 2019, I’ve been sharing my love for yoga through mindful, approachable classes filled with good energy. With a bachelor's degree in Child Development, I blend my deep knowledge with a warm, compassionate approach—whether I’m guiding someone on the mat or supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Above all, I am a devoted mother who cherishes time with my son. I find joy in the outdoors, spending my free moments with loved ones, on my yoga mat, or enjoying peaceful walks. My mission is to create nurturing, empowering spaces where people can grow, connect, and feel supported on their journey.

Recent review

Mya is amazing! She did an excellent job going over my options (both in terms of birth interventions and her support measures) and learning my birth desires and preferred comfort measures during prenatal appointments. She took the time to interact with my children so they’d feel comfortable with her coming into our home. Once we knew baby was on the way, she arrived quickly and more than prepared for all my potential needs and desires. When labor was hard, I felt comfortable expressing my feelings, and Mya knew exactly what to do and say to encourage me and physically help me through the discomfort. My mother made it a point to call me the next day and say that Mya has a warm yet calming energy, and that she was impressed with how anticipatory Mya was (noticing when I might need water, a tens unit adjustment, a comb to hold, etc. and acting right away). I even overheard my midwife telling Mya how impressed she was and asking for business cards so she could recommend Mya to her clients. This was my third child and third unmedicated birth, and I can say with confidence that—even as an experienced and thoroughly educated mother—Mya made a significant, positive difference in how I experienced my labor. She was a trusted friend who moved through the experience with me, soothing me, supporting my family, and effortlessly helping to coordinate small details like facilitating pickup with the placenta encapsulator. I appreciated her knowledge, work ethic, and servant’s spirit. If I ever fall pregnant again, I will be hiring Mya, and I highly recommend you do, too.

Hi friend, I’m Prisca, the doula behind your birth friend I’m a certified doula, wife, and mama with a big heart for walking alongside women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My care is rooted in connection, the kind that feels genuine, grounding, and personal. I believe doula support should feel less like a service and more like a steady friendship. Someone in your corner who gets it, sees you, and walks with you through it all. I believe every woman deserves: gentle, personalized support evidence-based guidance and someone who truly sees her I also believe that knowledge is power. When women understand their options, their bodies, and the birth process, they’re able to step into this journey feeling confident, informed, and deeply supported. I’m passionate about helping women feel equipped and empowered every step of the way. Birth isn’t just physical, it’s emotional, spiritual, and sacred. That’s why my support goes beyond timelines and checklists. I show up with heart, with presence, and with care that’s built on trust, friendship, and faith. My faith is the foundation of how I serve. It’s what grounds me, guides me, and helps me hold space with love and grace in every space I enter. Whether we’re chatting over tea during pregnancy, breathing through contractions together, or unpacking the beautiful, messy layers of postpartum, I’ll be right there with you as your steady, grounded support. I serve families in Charlotte, NC, and the surrounding areas, and it would be an honor to walk with you through your journey. Got questions? Want to connect? Or want to say hi? I’d love to hear from you! I’ve poured a lot of heart into my website, and I would be delighted if you stopped by. I’d love to connect with you there.

Working with Prisca was the best decision we made for our birth. From the very first meeting, she made us feel heard and supported. She provided so much helpful information, helped us feel prepared, and was a calming, reassuring presence throughout labor. Her warmth, knowledge, and encouragement made all the difference. We can’t recommend her enough!

Blessings! My name is Carolann Rosso and I am a licensed massage therapist, certified birth and postpartum doula and momma of five. I live in Aubrey and serve the North Texas area. Although I am not actively serving as a birth doula in this season, I bring the mindset of pregnancy and birth being sacred and seek to use my skills to bring balance to the bodies of women getting ready for birth, in labor and recovering in their 4th trimester.

Recent review

We loved having Carolann as a part of our birth team! Through days of prodromal labor and a successful Vbac delivery, she was there to support, encourage, and answer all of my questions. My baby was stuck in my right hip and Carolann immediately came over and led me and my husband through different moves to encourage baby into alignment. Arriving to the hospital she advocated for my needs and preferences when I could barely talk for myself. She stayed by my side the entire labor and delivery, and I am so thankful for her consistent presence during that time. Postpartum, she was available for any questions I had, checked in on us to make sure we were doing well, and helped me recount my birth experience from her point of view to fill in details I had missed. After previous birth trauma with my first, Carolann helped my second birth be the amazing experience that all births should be!

I have a great love of serving and caring for new mamas and their newborns. It's a passion I've had since a teenager. My first postpartum client was when I was 18 yrs old - before the word doula was ever known. I have 40yrs of experience working with newborns, new parents, as an educator, postpartum doula, nanny, lactation educator, and newborn care specialist. I have worked in the 3rd largest hospital in the country within the maternity unit as a nurse assistant/patient tech. I also sleep condition and train babies to sleep well at night as long as the parents follow through with instructions when I am not there. Baby can sleep between 10-12hr straight. I also travel with the families anywhere they go within my time frame of my contract. Passport/TSI ready. Many families have me between 6weeks-4months. Feel free to reach out to discuss how I may be of help to you. My free time I love to travel, swim, go boating, and making wreaths for front doors for the holidays. I am based out of Dallas Texas and love to travel to Florida as well to work.

Please reach out to me for questions and concerns.

We hired Shannon as our doula to help with the birth. She was good about communicating with us beforehand, and had answers for all of our questions. She helped empower me during my labor and pushing, and I appreciated having her there to support, guide, and comfort me through that time. Once I had given birth, she taught me how to nurse my baby. I was glad to have such a supportive woman at my side through it all. She also took a lot of pressure off of my husband by comforting and encouraging me (since he didn’t quite know how to help me at that time), which we very much appreciated. Overall, it was a good experience.

Hello everyone! My name is Jody Janek and I am a birth doula. My background is education in many areas: home economics, child development, early childhood, special education and ended with school counseling for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. I'm married to my lifelong sweetheart and I have three amazing grown children that have three amazing spouses. My absolute joy in life is being a Lolli to four precious grandbabies and more to come!!! I love birth! I feel that there is no birth story better than any other. My goal as a doula is to keep you calm, peaceful, and fearless with lots of love and positive affirmations. Let me help you make your "dream birth" come true.

Recent review

I wasn’t sure I would need a doula or not. This was my second unmedicated birth and my first went well so we questioned the value. When I tell you it made my birth experience tremendously different, it made a world of difference. My birth this time was about half the time of my first and the contractions picked up quickly. It was amazing to have someone guide my labor the whole way, time contractions for me, play my playlist, help do hip squeezes and comfort measures before I even asked for them. There was a point when I had stalled and my midwife suggested breaking my water to help progress things. I was in laborland and couldn’t think at that point, and Jody guided me through the risk and reward factors to help me make an informed choice. Having her helped my husband be less anxious because he had her knowledge and support to lean on. She knew when to step in and when to step back. If birth had a best friend, it would be Jody. I highly recommend her to anyone in or out of hospital for any birth, but especially if your goal is an unmedicated birth, book her now and thank me later!

As a Certified Doula, I love walking beside families through the transitions of pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I believe having access to positive support during those times contributes not only to better birth outcomes, but stronger bonds within the family and community as well. A mother of six myself, and while I have many interests and hobbies, like gardening and reading (SO much reading!) my knowledge around birth and motherhood has been a constant thread of connection with those I meet. I am honored when families value my input by bringing their questions to me! I am always seeking to learn more and have no hesitation in pointing clients to other resources if I am unsure of an answer. I strive to encourage an informed, prepared, and calm birth environment for my clients, meeting challenges that arise with patience and proven techniques.

At Precious Jewels, we believe that every mother is precious and every journey into motherhood deserves to be nurtured with care and love. We provide compassionate care that focuses on your emotional well being, physical recovery, and confidence as a parent. We are dedicated to empowering women, by providing culturally competent care that honors their unique experiences.

Recent review

We had an incredible experience working with Cortni as our birth doula for the delivery of our first child. In the weeks leading up to labor, she was excellent at communicating with us and made sure we always felt informed, supported, and prepared. She even followed up with me after each of my doctor’s appointments which really helped ease a lot of my anxiety as a new mom. Cortni’s background as a registered nurse makes her stand out amongst other doulas. Her medical knowledge of labor and birth was so valuable as she was able to read and explain all of the hospital monitors and machines and clearly communicate what was happening every step of the way. Having her there helped me stay calm, grounded, and focused on my baby and my body during labor. It also allowed my husband to fully focus on supporting me, knowing Cortni was there to help us understand everything that was happening medically. We are so grateful for her presence and support and cannot recommend Cortni highly enough to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly exceptional birth doula.

Jordan Towns

My name is Jordan Towns and I have served the role as an Emotional Support Coach/Companion for over two decades to women and men encountering a full range of life encounters. It was in Spring 2023 that my journey to become a Doula was initiated and what a journey indeed it has been. Marked by my strong ancestral roots and divine gifting coupled with an experience that allowed me to grow deeper in tune with my body as a woman and what it means to be empowered and supported in my connection to it, I moved to become a Birth Doula and completed my formal training with Doulas of North America International in the “Art of Labor Support.” Now I have the honor of providing continuous, culturally appropriate support, non-medical advice, and physical comfort coaching to women and their partners during pregnancy, the birth ceremony, and the adjustment period after. It is this support that is critical to counter systemic medical racism and socioeconomic barriers that families face. I am currently offering to women who would like to birth at home donation-based services.

Recent review

Jordan was an absolute amazing support person. She listened to what my wants and needs were. Jordan was open and understanding of my wants and through conversations she recalled details I mentioned. She reassured me as I was going through the labor process and even made me feel extremely comfortable and confident. I honestly can’t say enough about her to describe how amazing she was and how smooth she made the process. Very professional and at the same time humble. I highly recommend her! 100/10

Hi, I’m Precious, Founder of Precious Life Collective: Birth, Baby & Beyond I’m a proud boy mom, birth worker, and the heart behind Precious Life Collective. My journey into birth work began with the birth of my own son; a spontaneous, all-natural water birth at North Houston Birth Center. That life-changing experience awakened something deep in me—a calling to help other women feel just as powerful, safe, and supported as I did. Since giving birth, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside over 20 women; friends, first-time moms, and mentees who trusted me to support them through birth and postpartum. Whether it was being present during labor, creating birth plans, offering comfort through postpartum recovery, or assisting with newborn care and breastfeeding, I realized how deeply I’m meant to do this work. Through Precious Life Collective: Birth, Baby & Beyond, I offer full-spectrum doula support: from prenatal education and birth planning, to labor support, postpartum healing, and baby care guidance. My approach is nurturing, holistic, and rooted in real-life experience. I believe every mother deserves to feel seen, held, and empowered through every stage of this journey. This is more than a service; it’s a sisterhood. A safe, sacred space where your story matters—because your life is precious, and so is the new life you're bringing into the world.

Riley Bandstra

I’m Riley, the doula behind Root and Vine. This work is my calling — rooted in a deep respect for the strength and sacrifice of women, the transformation of birth, and the sacredness of new life. I’m a birth and postpartum doula, trained through DONA, and support families across the DFW metroplex with compassion, evidence-based knowledge, calm presence, and a deep trust in the process of labor. I am an English teacher of seven years and my husband and I have one son. My path to birth doula work began with my own birth experience; having a doula during my pregnancy was so helpful to me and made me feel much more knowledgeable and in control of my birth. Unfortunately, the birth of my son did not go as planned for many reasons: my doula could not attend my birth, I preeclampsia complications, and my son was in a breech position. Birth is a transformation, but it can also come with trauma. My experience compelled me to become a doula to hopefully help other women have better birth experiences than I did. I’m also passionate about postpartum care; in the time after giving birth, I felt vulnerable and, although I had endured a major physical and emotional event, I was not often the focus or concern. Even amidst so much joy and love for my son, people quickly begin asking about the baby and forget to ask about the new parent. I want to be the doula that I wish I could have had! The role of postpartum doula is to mother the mother, to educate and encourage new parents, and ensure the new family is thriving together. My love of caregiving and my passion of supporting other mothers is combined in the role of postpartum doula.

Inspired by my own reproductive journey, I feel called to do birth work in this phase of my life. I have the most wonderful five year old daughter and being her Mom is absolutely the best part of my life, however my journey to her did not come without its challenges. From struggling with pregnancy loss, to a pregnancy that required me to be on full bed rest for my entire third trimester, and ultimately delivering via c-section. I am well versed in needing supportive around the clock care. And most importantly I count that care as one of my biggest blessings. I believe that care is what allowed me to bring a beautiful baby to this world safely and transition to motherhood with confidence.
