My journey in birth work began in 2007 with the first pregancy in my group of friends. She had mentioned wanting a midwife and I started researching. I had caught the birth bug and was hooked! The idea of women helping women made my heart happy. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be an apprentice midwife at several freestanding birth centers; labor support for homebirth, birth center and hospital clients in Round Rock and surrounding areas and have recently certified as a CBE and Doula with Birth Boot Camp. I've been married to my partner, Danny, since April 2008. He has supported me through this journey and is a great partner. I am a mom to two beautiful little girls, Annie and Jane. Both of my births took place in my home accompanied by a midwife, my very first midwifery preceptor. I breastfed both of my babies for 2 years, tandem for 6 months. That was such a wonderful and bonding experience. I want to provide the best care to each mother who trusts me with her birth experience, whether that be in hospital or at home. I believe that having a positive birth experience is the right of every woman. I will strive to help each mother and baby have a special delivery.

I have always known I was called to this work... to hold space in the sacred, in-between places where we are transformed by the rivers running wild through us. Hello! My name is Valerie, but most people call me Val. I am a licensed Registered Nurse located Northeast of Austin, TX. I initially obtained my license in the state of California, but endorsed it to Texas once I moved. I have always been fascinated with birth and the women’s body. Labor & Delivery was my favorite clinical throughout nursing school, however the pandemic hit right when I was in the middle of school and that affected how I wanted to move forward in my career. It wasn’t until after giving birth myself, along with having a traumatic labor and delivery that I was 100% certain this was the area of work that truly felt most passionate about and is right for me. I am focused on gaining more experience at the bedside during birth and to continue learning from mentors. I am confident with the right circumstances, environment and support that birth can be one of the most beautiful and powerful things you’ll get to experience and I would love nothing more than to be apart of that. During my free time I enjoy playing with my 18 month old, soon I’ll be chasing around 2 boys come January, making sourdough bread, and spending quality time with my husband.
