I was inspired to pursue birth work after becoming a parent and experiencing how powerful and transformative the birthing process is. I also do this work because it brings so much joy and connection. Hi! I'm Lacey Dowlearn! I am a Birth Boot Camp certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Birth Doula serving Round Rock families. My journey in birth work began in 2007 with the first pregancy in my group of friends. She had mentioned wanting a midwife and I started researching. I had caught the birth bug and was hooked! The idea of women helping women made my heart happy. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be an apprentice midwife at several freestanding birth centers; labor support for homebirth, birth center and hospital clients in Round Rock and surrounding areas and have recently certified as a CBE and Doula with Birth Boot Camp. I've been married to my partner, Danny, since April 2008. He has supported me through this journey and is a great partner. I am a mom to two beautiful little girls, Annie and Jane. Both of my births took place in my home accompanied by a midwife, my very first midwifery preceptor. I breastfed both of my babies for 2 years, tandem for 6 months. That was such a wonderful and bonding experience. I want to provide the best care to each mother who trusts me with her birth experience, whether that be in hospital or at home. Hello! My name is Valerie, but most people call me Val. I am a licensed Registered Nurse located Northeast of Austin, TX. I initially obtained my license in the state of California, but endorsed it to Texas once I moved. I have always been fascinated with birth and the women’s body. Labor & Delivery was my favorite clinical throughout nursing school, however the pandemic hit right when I was in the middle of school and that affected how I wanted to move forward in my career. It wasn’t until after giving birth myself, along with having a traumatic labor and delivery that I was 100% certain this was the area of work that truly felt most passionate about and is right for me. I am focused on gaining more experience at the bedside during birth and to continue learning from mentors.
