I am a Labor and Delivery RN, BSN, RNC OB with 25 years of high risk nursing experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, breastfeeding support and newborn nursery. I would love to use that lifetime of experience to help new families make a happy, healthy and enjoyable adjustment to the postpartum period. I want to do home and tele health visits to help support families in learning how to take great after birth care of mom and babies. Many couples in our area go home from the hospital feeling unsure and somewhat overwhelmed with their new precious responsibility. I would like to provide reassuring presence for them to make a comfortable, relaxed and confident start to their new job of parenting. I have a holistic approach to wellness and understand people's various approaches to what is best for their families. I have been involved with supporting a physiologic approach to childbirth since having my own sons 41 years ago. Supporting maximal health and wellness is my passion.

With over twenty five years' experience as an NCS(newborn care specialist), CPPD(certified postpartum doula), & Certified Lactation Educator Counselor, I aspire to be a calming, nonjudgmental  and supportive presence for parents during the first few weeks/months with their newborn(s). I have worked as a baby nurse for over 25 years and I enjoy helping new parents make the transition into parenthood, by teaching them how to care for the new addition to their family. I have the knowledge and training needed to educate new parents on how to care for their newborn by teaching them how to feed, bath and put babies down for naptime. I can help parents organize the nursery to make things more convenient and easier to handle. I am highly trained to take care of twins or even triplets, so parents with multiple newborns are not so overwhelmed and stressed. Even parents who already have children at home can use the extra help, so they have time to take care of their other children.

I have always been fascinated and humbled by the birthing process since working at a Maternity Hospital in Nepal many years ago, when I was a medical student in the UK. It revealed to me how essential compassionate support is during this rite of passage. My passion for women's health and childbirth has never waned, and I come with a deep knowledge of the process from working as a family doctor in the UK, then birthing and bringing up my own three children here in the US. I am privileged to work as a birth doula, an advocate in this space, supporting with empathy and calm, helping women to trust their bodies and to achieve a positive birth experience. I live in OC with my three amazing children! If I’m not at a birth, you will find us at the beach surfing, playing, and enjoying the outdoors. I fell in love with all things birth when I became pregnant with my 1st child in 2008. As an avid reader and researcher, I made it my goal to learn everything I possibly could about the biology and physiology of birth, and how to have optimal health during and after pregnancy for both me and my baby. Like many first-time moms I have worked with, I had hesitations about giving birth to my 1st baby outside of a hospital setting. After all my research, classes, and conversations with midwives, I gained confidence in aiming for an unmedicated birthing experience. I found some lovely midwifes who had a midwifery ward in a hospital and gave birth to my 1st son unmedicated. Twenty-four hours of intense back labor from a posterior-positioned baby …but, I did it! My body actually did it! After birthing my first, statistically knowing it was the most challenging and longest labor, gave me confidence to choose home births for my second and third children. I had a successful home water birth with my second child and wanted to repeat that with my third. However, while laboring on the toilet with him, I suddenly dropped to my knees when he began to crown, and he became known as my bathroom floor “butter birth” baby :). Though I chose unmedicated births for myself, I do know it is not for everyone, which is more than OK! I quickly learned from my role as a doula that every woman’s body, medical history, and background are uniquely different. Many factors play into choosing the right birth for you. I am here to come alongside you, help you make an informed decision, and then support you every step of the way. I offer very personable and compassionate care. My approach is non-agenda-based, trauma-informed, and holistic-minded. No matter your history or past experiences, I am here to be a safe place for you.
