Originally from Liverpool, England and now living in Marin County, California, I am the mum of 6 beautiful children and a grandma to one. Each and every birth was unique, whether it was at home, a birthing centre, or in a hospital. The level of prenatal and postpartum care I received, definitely impacted my birth experience and I really feel every mum should feel safe and in control of her choices, as much as she can when she is going through one of the most unique and special moments in their life. I’m Katie Galvin, Postpartum Doula and Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritional Practitioner. After my own experience with “postpartum anxiety & depression,” (which was really undiagnosed postpartum thyroiditis) I decided to become a functional practitioner to help other moms navigate common postpartum hormonal changes using a holistic, body-mind-spirit approach to pregnancy and postpartum. Conventional medicine often fails new moms by dismissing their concerns or offering pills as the only solutions to common (but not normal) symptoms.
