Hello! My name is Ladjane Sampaio and I am a Certified Postpartum Doula and experienced Nanny based in the Bay Area. I am also a proud Brazilian mother of five, and it’s from this deep well of personal experience and love that I draw my strength and purpose as a caregiver. Supporting families through the delicate postpartum period is not just my profession—it’s my calling. I bring a calm, compassionate, and culturally sensitive presence to every home I serve, helping parents feel empowered, seen, and truly supported as they adjust to life with a new baby. I offer hands-on newborn care, breastfeeding support, postpartum recovery assistance, light housekeeping, and home organization to ensure a peaceful and well-supported transition into parenthood. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and I have excellent references that reflect my professionalism, reliability, and loving care. While English is not my first language, I communicate clearly and warmly—and most importantly, I know how to care for babies with confidence, love, and great attention to detail. Families often tell me how reassured and cared for they feel with me by their side. I speak Portuguese fluently and am happy to support multilingual families with empathy and understanding. I would be honored to support your postpartum journey with heart, skill, and experience.
She’s such a wonderful doula — caring, dedicated, and truly passionate about what she does. She supports both mom and baby with so much love and calm energy, and always offers helpful guidance to the whole family. Her presence brings peace and confidence. I couldn’t recommend her more!”

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m Gena Perdue, a certified birth and postpartum doula serving families across the Bay Area. I specialize in advocacy for better birth outcomes, overnight postpartum care and recovery, newborn care, and pediatric sleep hygiene. My practice is client-led, evidence-based, unconditional, and free of agenda. Your family deserves care that meets you exactly where you are. I believe that when new parents feel supported, informed, and well-rested, the entire family thrives. I bring a background in community and organizational leadership, having spent years helping families and professionals build systems of care that strengthen both individuals and communities. I’m certified, CPR and Standard First Aid certified, trained in emergency preparedness, insured, background-checked, and have current vaccinations. I'm calm, capable, and ready to help so you can feel supported, confident, and well-rested during your transition to parenthood.
Gena was an absolute gift as we navigated the first few weeks of our son’s life. Having had a very difficult postpartum period with my first son, I did all I could to prepare for the birth of my second son which is how I met Gena. She was able to immediately put me at ease when my anxiety was front and center and helped me get centered when things felt extra difficult. She had faith in me when I wasn’t so sure and we talked about life and newborns striking a perfect balance of knowledge and friendliness that is hard to find. If you get the chance to work with Gena you will be all the better for it. I highly recommend her.

I am a Postpartum Doula. I mostly work 1:1 with clients, but am open to remote work as well. I teach infant massage either in person or remotely. I love helping with siblings and pets and getting partners more involved with helping out. As a new mom, or a mom for the 10th time, those first few months with baby are a time for you to recover and get to know your little one. But it is not something that you need to do alone, I can help you.

I’m a patient, compassionate, and reliable overnight doula who specializes in getting baby on a schedule, sleep training, and helping families transition into postpartum. I am calm and cool under pressure. I worked 6 years in Emergency Medicine as an EMT in San Francisco and did NICU transports of premature babies. I am passionate about my work since I truly believe it takes a village to care for children and want to help many families in enjoying postpartum rather than just surviving it! I am flexible and friendly and love good communication. When I’m not working, I enjoy powerlifting, singing, and doing jigsaw puzzles. I am certified in Postpartum Infant Care, Infant Feeding Education, CPR, and First Aid.

I'm Katie Sullivan, M.Ed, CPPD, a parenting and sleep consultant, an early childhood professional, a certified postpartum doula, a Montessori educator, and a mother of two. I have studied and worked with young children and families for nearly 20 years, with a special love and appreciation for the infant and toddler stages. My area of expertise is providing families with individualized practical recommendations and sleep/parenting plans. I am passionate about setting up good sleep habits from birth, serving as a resource for new parents, and troubleshooting tricky situations from zero to three.
Wouldn't have survived the first year of parenthood without Katie. Her expertise is only matched by her sense of calm. She got my baby sleeping through the night faster than I could have imagined and 2 years later we haven't had a single regression. She walked us through potty training – one of the more stressful parenting situations I've encountered – and helped us cross every potty milestone. Couldn't recommend her more.

I’m a professional newborn care specialist with 10 years of experience working with babies. I am a devoted mother myself, with two young adult children whom I adore (25 and 27 years old). I love children and babies, and take care them as if they were my own. My approach is gentle and mindful to the needs of both parents and the new baby. I’ve taken care of newborn twins solo (without a team), premature babies and babies with medical conditions (such as severe reflux). I help establish a routine so that once the baby is old enough you can choose to sleep train them if you wish. I do not believe in the cry out method because if we establish the routine, they will learn to sleep without having to let them cry it out. I pour love and patience into my job and feel that working with babies and families during this special time as a new angel comes into the family is definitely my calling. My ideal role will be with a family that I can feel comfortable to work with, exchanging my experience and working as a time to make the baby and mom time more enjoyable possible. Some skills: - Baby-Led Weaning - Bottle Prep - Bottle Sanitation - Swaddling - Sleep Training – Assisting with Nursing - Medical Management - Routine Development - Log Keeping - Organization and Cleaning.
My main message is: if you’re considering having a baby I wouldn’t recommend doing it without Patty. I had the pleasure of having Patty with me full for the first 6 months of my third daughter’s life. When she arrived, Patty was the 6th baby nurse I had in the house over a 5 year period. She was by far the most skilled in terms of knowledge of babies, curiosity about how to get better and she was a wizard when it came to helping the baby with gas, burping and discomfort. I really felt she was an expert in babies and she truly has a deep passion for babies and constantly learning. She is reading about babies and in baby forums constantly. Patty was an executive assistant in Brazil at a major global pharmaceutical company. I am a CEO and my schedule is pretty high pressure and she was superbly adaptable and flexible with me if I was late on a call or needed to shift things real time. She is organized, energetic, quick, efficient and insanely reliable. You can set your watch by her. She worked 6 months straight without a day off and did 18 hours a day. I don’t know how, but she never was tired or grumpy or negative. She is like the energizer bunny. Once we had a really bad travel problem coming back from Hawaii with the whole family and she and I had to completely shift our travel and we went with the baby from Kona to Phoenix overnight, we checked into a hotel where she and the baby slept while I did a conference and 20 hours later we got on a flight and flew home. Patty was completely fine with this. This is just an example of how flexible and calm and collected she is. She is not fussy at all. I really wish I had had Patty with one of my older daughters who had really bad gas and belly issues as an infant. I know that if Patty had been there with us then, her expertise in burping and baby / GI massage would have lead to much less crying and a more pleasant infanthood for that baby. One of the things that was most important to me is that despite having had weak supply I really wanted to breastfeed through the first year. Patty was a complete and total partner to me in this and she is the only reason I made it to 9 months. Even though it made her job much harder having to wake me up every few hours, sit with me while I nursed and then bottle feed the baby while I pumped (plus dealing with all the pumping equipment!)— she was totally in, she was a wonderful cheerleader for me and she helped me never feel alone or discouraged. I cannot thank her enough for this and my guess is most baby nurses would never have been so committed, kind and self-sacrificial. I would be remiss not to mention why I picked Patty after interviewing over 30 baby nurses. The baby nurse business / industry is one I have a love / not love relationship with because when it’s your baby and your home, you want someone there who is working (it’s obviously a job) but also feels a real calling and spiritual connection with the sacredness and preciousness of babies. The first time I met Patty on video during the interview process I knew my search was over because her love for children— her own and others — was so deep and visceral. Lastly, I would note that although we never let my baby "cry it out" ever (I think that practice is super wrong), my baby was sleeping through the night when Patty left when she was 6 months old.

My name is Kirstie and I am a birth & postpartum doula and peer lactation counselor. I received training from HERBAL Academy and the famous Indie Birth Doula Academy. I enjoy working with expecting and new parents as they embark in their parenting journeys! If you would like to connect, please send me a message here or send me a text: (510) 993-5952. I would love to schedule you for a consultation to see if we would be a good fit to work together. Payment plans are available for parents who may not have insurance coverage but see my services as a need.
Kirstie was so amazing in guiding me through my birth. She taught me about having a birth plan and having it written it out so that doctors would follow my wishes. A birth plan was something I hadn’t even thought of but Kirstie was instrumental in helping me think ahead and giving me the best chance of having a safe birth for me and baby. She was also great in my postpartum. She checked in often and helped me breastfeeding. Teaching me massage that help milk production and foods I can eat also to help my milk supply. She thinks about all your needs before you even realize you need it. She’s a warm, calming presence to have at your most vulnerable time. There’s no other person I would recommend when looking for help in your birth and postpartum journey. Kirstie is simply the best!

My name is Shakila Marando, and I am the founder of DOULAS by the BAY. I am a mother of two children, and I have worked with children and families for over 25 years. For the last 16 years, I have dedicated my life to serving families as a doula, offering support through pregnancy, birth, and the early newborn days. My work comes from a deep love for caring for others, and my goal is always to help parents feel seen, supported, and confident during this special time. My professional background includes Certified Birth Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Lactation Counselor, Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), Doula Educational Institute Doula Educator, New Parent Educator, Trained Infant Massage Educator, and Infant Sleep Consultant. These combined skills allow me to guide families with compassion, evidence-based care, and hands-on experience. Alongside my work, I lead a caring and trusted team of doulas who share the same passion for helping families. Together, we have supported over 3,000 families. Every doula on our team is Birth/Postpartum Certified and Perinatal Mood Disorders Certified, fully vetted, professionally assessed, and background screened for safety. Our doulas are CPR trained, follow safety standards and best practices, and are HIPAA certified to protect your privacy. They are also covered by Workers’ Compensation and backed by comprehensive company liability insurance. With ongoing mentorship and professional development, our team offers safe, reliable, and heart-centered support to every family we serve. I created DOULAS by the BAY to build a supportive space where parents feel seen, understood, and empowered. I’m deeply grateful for the trust families place in me, and I remain committed to making a positive difference—one family at a time.
Shakila is the best there is. We did not have a night doula for our first child. For our second, we needed one because I had to go back to work right away. I was very nervous about leaving my baby with someone else during the night hours, particularly at just two weeks. Shakila let me control as much of the process as I wanted to so I always felt like she was doing what I wanted. She has a magical touch with babies and had our daughter sleeping through the night by two months old. She would not even leave in the morning until the baby was back to sleep, which allowed us an extra hour of sleep on top of the time she was with us. She was worth every penny and then some. THANK YOU SHAKILA! We miss you.

Hi there! My name is Ke'xia (kuh see ya) and I am a certified lactation specialist, birth and postpartum doula that is passionate about birth work! I would love to serve families that are open to all possibilities that birth may unexpectedly happen. Whether vaginal or a scheduled belly birth, I hope to help families feel empowered, safe, and equipped with evidence based information. I hope to exceed your expectations of what a doula is capable of!
I had a very disappointing experience with Ke'xia Draper, whom I hired as my birth doula. In our agreement and during our introductory calls, she assured me that she would be fully on-call from 38–42 weeks and would provide continuous labor support. This included hands-on comfort measures, pain-management techniques, and in-person assistance throughout active labor. She also stated that she would arrive at my home or the hospital within 30 minutes of being notified. However, on the day I went into labor, it became apparent that she was prioritizing another family in Oakland, who had hired her for postpartum care—despite her explicit assurance that birth clients would take full priority over postpartum clients during the on-call period. The day before, I had informed her that I lost my mucus plug and asked her to be prepared. The next day, when my water broke, she did not respond to calls or texts for several hours. When I was later admitted to the hospital and requested her support, she arrived approximately three hours after being contacted. She stayed for only about an hour and a half, during which she spent most of the time scrolling on her phone, which I found extremely distracting and unhelpful. At 36 weeks, we had a 1.5-hour prenatal appointment where she showcased various tools and techniques she would use—massage and pressure methods, aromatherapy, a TENS unit, affirmation cards, and more. None of these were used during my labor. Because of the lack of meaningful support, I labored largely on my own, and lost confidence in relying on her for the pushing stage. I decided not to call her back for pushing, as her presence felt more distracting than supportive at such an important moment. Overall, this experience left me feeling unsupported during one of the most vulnerable times of my life.

Tammy worked with us at least 5 nights a week for about 4 months caring for our newborn during the pandemic. Tammy was absolutely AMAZING!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She was way better with our little Lexi than I was (I think Lexi could sense my nervous energy) and I used to joke that having her stay with us every night was like going on vacation. Sleep is everything! Tammy would come over every night and Lexi would just melt into her arms. Tammy just has a way with children, especially babies and Lexi was immediately comfortable with her. She is also the consummate professional. She is exceedingly clean, well organized and you feel VERY comfortable with her in the house. In fact, we also had her travel with us to Tahoe and we had so much fun! In such a short time, she became like family and I relied on her so much. She also went WAY above and beyond. Our little Lexi became sick one night and I ended up dragging Tammy to the ER during the height of the pandemic. She kept our little Lexi calm and I cried like a baby in her arms while we were at the hospital. It was such a blessing to have Tammy as an integral part of our family during that time and I miss her!

I have been a career nanny in San Francisco for 13 years , I have worked steadily for two families that entire time. Since all 4 kids I have helped raise ( two sets of twins) are all now in school, Doula work seemed like a perfect transition. Last year I got my Postpartum Doula license and this year I have been working on my Lactation Consult Certificate. I try very hard to stay current on all pediatric reccomendations for infant care, I am fully vaccinated , current on infant CPR training and I have pristine reccomendations. I feel as if I have been taking care of babies my whole life first, as an aunt, then mama and now I am loving life as a young and energetic Grammy. I get so much satisfaction helping new parents transition succesfully into their new roles as parents. I have had the privilege of helping my daughter for a month postpartum with both of her births, as my mom helped me. It is an honor when I get to step into that role for parents without access to family. Thank you for your consideration, Julia
Julia was INVALUABLE as a doula for our first child! We worked with her for about 3 months after his birth as both a night nurse and a daytime nanny. My husband and I felt very overwhelmed at first and it was incredible to come home from the hospital and have Julia orienting us at home. She has a ton of expertise from her own experience with her family as well as her doula studies, and is great at balancing that experience with a respect for your own wishes & goals. She taught us a ton of soothing techniques, new ways to hold the baby, and ways to help his digestion with massages (which was crucial in the early weeks when he was dealing with a lot of GI issues!). She's also incredibly flexible, & easy to schedule & coordinate with, which was great for taking away stress during a busy time. The best part though is that Julia truly cares about the children she works with - she is very warm & we felt like she truly formed a connection with our baby and wanted the best for him, which as a parent is the most important thing. We continue to stay in touch. Highly recommend working with Julia!

Hi families! My name is Selina, I am 23 years old, born and raised in San Francisco. I am a current nursing student at the University of San Francisco pursuing my degree in Nursing. I am currently a Postnatal Care Specialist, in the process of earning my postpartum doula certification, and eventually a labor and delivery nurse! My passion for newborn care came to me when I went through a traumatic experience where I didn't have any support when I needed it the most. I then came across the Village Retreat Center in San Francisco, where I currently am employed part time, and realized how much support and words of encouragement can go a long way. My experience thus far has put me in a position where I am glad to be able to be that person in a room to lend a helping hand to give support and words of encourage along the way in families' journeys.
I've had the pleasure to work alongside Selina and have grown fond of her worth ethic as a colleague and friend. Her upbeat personality, attention to detail, and ability to read the room during tender moments while working with families truly demonstrates her emotional intelligence and overall competence. And having a background in nursing and postnatal care assures she'd be an amazing fit for all expecting families. Would highly recommend :)

I am a CAPPA-trained Postpartum Doula serving families in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am passionate about women’s health, the postpartum period, and helping new parents navigate the transformative journey of welcoming a newborn. My approach is grounded in empathy, warmth, and respect for every family’s unique journey. I strive to provide personalized care, offering evidence-based guidance, hands-on support, and a calm presence when needed. Using intuition, clear communication, and active listening, I balance taking the initiative with stepping back and following your lead. My goal is to help you feel confident, cared for, and empowered as you navigate early parenthood.
I hired Liz to care for my toddler and newborn (prenatally, birth, and postpartum). Needless to say, I couldn’t have done it without her. She is an excellent communicator, very flexible, and approaches this sacred work with warmth and intuition. She always informed me of the details of my baby’s temperament, reactions, feeds, sleep etc, allowing for a smooth handoff. She also provided me with emotional and domestic support - whatever I needed most in that moment. This ability is adapt, along with her knowledge (maternal health, newborn care, toddler development) were evident during every shift. I’m so grateful for the loving connection she’s built with my son—he never wants her to leave! My 9 month old is also getting attached :) 5 stars indeed.

I know how difficult it can be adjusting to new motherhood. Coping with a changing body and fluctuating hormones can leave you feeling confused, frightened and isolated. Trauma can impact your life until it feels like it IS you and not just something that happened TO you. It can feel like the trauma has destroyed your ability to function. I successfully raised an amazing son despite not knowing how to bond with him after his release from the NICU and while experiencing postpartum depression. I did not know how I was going to cope with his traumatic birth or feel like the self I was before, but I found a way to thrive with a little guidance from a postpartum depression therapist. And, my experience led me to specialize in birth trauma therapy. I decided to concentrate on perinatal mental health because of the lived experience I had with these challenges and because I feel that the bond between a mother and her baby is one of the most powerfully healing relationships that exist. I feel that if I can help guide mothers on their path to wellness, they can be more present and attuned to their babies. This strengthened relationship heals the mother and gives the baby what they need to form a solid foundation upon which all future relationships are built. A healthy mama can provide her baby with what they need to thrive, and I feel that everyone deserves a chance to thrive and to live a connected and fulfilling life. The help of a postpartum therapist can be invaluable on this journey. You can feel better. You can bond with your baby and form a connection that will help you both heal. I use EMDR and CBT to help you overcome a traumatic childbirth, NICU stay or other frightening events and process the associated feelings successfully. I offer EMDR and EMDR intensives to treat the reemergence of childhood trauma after becoming a mom. With over 20 years experience as a postpartum therapist in California, 15 years working with perinatal women, and a Perinatal Mental Heath Certification (PMH-C), I can help guide you on your parenting journey. Reach out to a perinatal therapist today to get started.
Working with Shameless Mama Wellness has been nothing short of transformative. As a new mother, I was overwhelmed with feelings of guilt, anxiety, and self-doubt, but from the moment I started, I knew I was in a safe space. Marilyn is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental—exactly what I needed during such a vulnerable time. She encouraged me to open up about my intrusive thoughts, which I had been too ashamed to even admit to myself. I never felt rushed, and I always felt heard. Through our sessions, I’ve learned to embrace the imperfections of motherhood and find joy even in the chaos. I’ve come to understand that taking care of my mental health is not only vital for me but also for my family. What I appreciate most is that Marilyn offered practical tools that I could use daily, rather than just abstract concepts. The personalized care and genuine concern for my well-being made me feel valued, not just as a client but as a person. I can’t recommend Shameless Mama Wellness enough to any mom who feels like she’s lost herself in the process of becoming a parent. It’s been life-changing, and I’m so grateful.

Hey there! I’m Sabrina, owner of Little Sprout Doula and I’m thrilled to connect with you! I’m a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula based in San Francisco, California. My journey in the birthing world started as a volunteer with the San Francisco General Hospital Birth doula program. It was such a rewarding experience, and I learned so much about how to support expectant moms and their families. After that, I had the opportunity to work at San Francisco's very first postpartum retreat center. There, I gained valuable insights into the postpartum period. Last year alone, I’ve had the joy of helping over 50 families through their postpartum journeys, and it’s been incredibly rewarding! I also participated in Sutter Hospital's Birth Doula Pilot program, where I got to dive even deeper into this work. Plus, I’ve taken a UC San Diego Lactation Educator course and completed a Spinning Babies workshop because I’m passionate about empowering expectant individuals and their families on this wonderful journey. My focus is now in birth doula support. I can't wait to share my knowledge and support with you. Let’s connect and start this amazing adventure together!
Sabrina is a star. She took just thoughtful, empathetic care of our little one and we still appreciate it immensely. She was also a helpful resource and emotional support during some breastfeeding troubles. Our guy was also born a few weeks early underweight, and we trusted Sabrina fully to give him the care he needed. We are forever grateful, and you can be too! Book Sabrina!
