We’re hoping for support in preparing thoughtful and flexible birth preferences ahead of time, comfort and education throughout labor/birth, helping to hold our birth plan with the medical team during labor/birth, and guiding us through the unpredictability of labor so we can stay present with eachother/body/baby and make informed decisions as they come. Also curious about your openness to capture photo/video during birth. Twin newborns are a full-time adventure so we want someone experienced with twins and supporting parents of newborn twins! Birth support is also important to us, and we'd love someone who is comfortable in an OR setting and familiar with both vaginal twin deliveries and C-sections (planned or emergency). About us: We're an AAPI family who practices Buddhism, though we welcome doulas of all backgrounds and beliefs. We're also both in the medical field so we're no strangers to clinical settings. Someone to advocate for me in the hectic moments of delivery and contractions to help me feel focused and give me knowledgeable insights with methods and positions on how to manage pain during contractions. I have a lot of anxiety going into my second pregnancy after a HORRIBLE experience with my epidural during my stay at Kaiser. The first one didn’t work, and the second one resulted in a spinal headache, and a nurse accidentally gave me too much/extra dosage of the epidural and my legs were pointless and hanging so my mom/husband had to carry them which was even harder to push my 9.7 pound son out. I just want to feel supported and safe.
